“One of the most respected and revered players in school history” is how Northwestern State Director of Athletics Greg Burke describes the 12th baseball coach in Demons history.
Former Northwestern State Academic All-American and All-Southland Conference first baseman Bobby Barbier took over the Demons baseball program on June 21, 2016, following a two-year stint as NSU’s pitching coach.
Barbier, the 2006 Southland Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, played four seasons for the Demons, finishing his career ranked in the top 10 in eight offensive categories. He remains second in NSU history in hit by pitches.
Upon his arrival in Natchitoches in the summer, Barbier began implementing and imparting his pitching system that will debut at Brown-Stroud Field this spring.
