Today I am in London and in the lucky position to have a running interview with The Chris Evans Breakfast Show Sports News Presenter Vassos Alexander. He previously worked for the BBC 5live and Radio 2.

It’s a well-known fact that he runs his commute and – obviously - loves to talk about sports for a living. If you don’t know him yet, it’s time to present a view highlights in his career because you will have undoubtedly heard his voice if you follow sports on the radio.

I don’t think I’m overdoing it if I say, he's covered everything from the World Cup to Wimbledon, The Open to The Ashes, The Olympic Games to The World Darts. Sitting in the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing when Usain Bolt smashed the 100m world record however would have been his favorite part.

Just envision that as an experience in your career; what’s not to like?

Vassos grew up in South London and North Greece and unlike what you’d expect was never an ace in any sport. That however didn’t stop him from running Marathons as well as completing a Spartathlon.

Completing the Spartathlon was special to him given the race’s history and his own Greek heritage.

For those who do not know, the 153-mile Spartathlon route follows in the footsteps of Pheidippides who, a few days before his more famous journey from Marathon, ran from Athens over the Peloponnese mountains to ask for Spartan help in the battle of Marathon.

The locals (rightly) feel you’re honoring their history and culture simply by taking part.

We are out for a 3 mile run whilst on his lunch break and we are right in the center of London in the UK and it’s a rare and beautiful sunny day. We are talking about running your commute instead of taking public transport. Upping the training mileage to run Ultra Marathons talking about Emil Zatopek as a subject on Mastermind and more.

I’m keeping Vassos company on his run home today – at least for a little while – and you are more than welcome to join us.

Let’s Go!

This is day 3,056 of my personal Running Streak!

Runners Quote 00:19:56
“I wonder how many lives have changed by running for the better, or for the better in the last 10 years?” – Vassos Alexander.
An appropriate question in my eyes and appropriate for him to ask being a Radio Sports presenter. What do you think? I’d love to know in the comments below.
