Today’s running partner is ultra runner Alyson Allen, who shares her experience competing in the 135 mile race at Death Valley.

She was the first female finisher in her age group at the Ultra-Marathon at Badwater which was held at California’s Death Valley (her time: 25:53:07) in 2016. It is categorised as one of the toughest if not the toughest footrace in the world.

Alyson Allen né Venti makes me question why I am even starting today but such is life. Sometimes you must start before you can talk.

Alyson Allen is also a reef scientist on the Caribbean island of Barbados. You can follow her more closely on her website.

Barbados is a beautiful country and I love the heat, but I struggle with the humidity. Whilst you can hear me pant and notice my brain wandering off (like following the monkey at 00:04:17), you barely hear Alyson breath and that is after already having run 21 ½ miles before I joined her for the short amount of three miles I do.

Since my run with Alyson I thought of a 1,000 more questions I should have asked. If you have got any I really should ask, I will do my best to organise a second run with her… maybe a third and a fourth, considering the amount of questions.

Let’s do this run today. Join in wherever you are.

Let’s Go!

This was my personal day 2,930 on my Running Streak!

Runners Quote
Asked if she has rested during a race Alyson answered “No, if I want to do a 152 miles then I have to keep going!”

#3MileRunDown is a way for me to talk with equally enthusiastic people from all sorts of backgrounds. My aim is to tap into their knowledge achieved through paths life took them. We may pound the miles together and it combines, and it may bring us even closer, that being said it’s for each something else that sets us on this path.

This is an open invitation to find value and knowledge in each different runner and run, because no life paths are the same and no three-mile run is either.
