UNDER PRESSURE

I like the one on one interviews, but occasionally we do a double just to mix it up. Because we record at a different location each episode things become unpredictable and sometimes maddening. We thought about a studio to record in, but the comic would have to travel, we said enough is enough. We had reserved a small quiet room to conduct our spectacular double interview, we are so on top of things.

The interview with Kortney Shane Williams and Jason Ward was great, the entire 80 minutes. If you’re seeing this and thinking, ‘I’m not listening to this clown for that long’, then you’d be right. As Kortney and Jason loosened at up about the 35 minute mark the most annoying thing happened. I guess it was our bad luck when about 35 minutes into an interview 60 minutes would have killed for, some fella above us decided it was the perfect time to pressure wash the roof for about 40 minutes. It was all I could do to not lose my shit, but I kept it professional. But seriously, what the hell? When are these Jokers gonna catch a break? When will we get an interview without having to overcome fire trucks, lost internet connection, computer hackers, equipment malfunctions, bad timing, malware and now pressure washers?

Being that we’re hardheads, we stayed and continued the interview. We tried to be positive about our luck changing. Maybe that guy was just hitting a small spot and would be finished momentarily. Maybe we could take that sound out in post. Maybe the power of the interview would strangle out the persistent droning hum barreling down on our heads. The more I stayed positive the more I realized the machine was not only washing the dirt off the roof, but it was eroding away my will to live.

This turning over a new leaf, trying to think positive like I read a Tony Robbins book. I am not very positive about anything really. I believe Murphy’s Law is more accurate than ever before in human history. I believe that “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”, and during this interview, we were not disappointed.

We cut this interview a little short because it was better you left hearing the interview in a good mood. If we left the rest of the interview in the mix, you would have been pissed. We are considerate Jokers. Still, a fun interview, even if you don’t get to hear Kortney Williams name names.
