What has struck me is the counselors and judges belief in veteran and their eagerness for them to succeed. When the rate of reoffending was mentioned, it is admirable albeit unheard ,of when a counselor examine the various factors that are not measured or accounted for, such as the use of drugs/alcohol. Prison is not an answer for veterans whose problems stem from years of fighting resulting in PTSD and mental anguish. It’s also, not answer for non veterans, but it is an easy temporary fix for social problems and petty thefts without addressing the elephant in the room. I think having a good relationship with an adequate communication with a counselor provide a good influence on those accused offenders to succeed.
