Welcome to the 99Relapses podcast.

0:40

I'm your host, James Egidio an online

0:43

Christian recovery coach and counselor.

0:46

In today's devotional. I will be talking

0:48

about the Power of Patience. Addiction

0:52

is a difficult and often complex

0:54

struggle, it can be all

0:56

too easy to feel discouraged or overwhelmed

0:59

as we work toward recovery. The

1:01

journey is filled with challenges, setbacks,

1:04

and moments of doubt. And it can

1:06

be hard to know how to keep going when it

1:08

feels like progress is slow or nonexistent.

1:12

But in the midst of these difficulties, there

1:14

is a powerful force that can help us stay the course

1:17

and find the strength we need to persevere.

1:20

This force is patience. The

1:22

ability to remain calm and steadfast

1:24

in the face of adversity ,and

1:27

trust that change is possible. Even

1:29

when progress seems slow. The

1:32

Bible is filled with stories and teachings

1:34

that highlight the power of patients,

1:37

and remind us of the importance of staying

1:39

the course, even when it's hard.

1:43

In the book of James 1:4,

1:45

for example, we're told

1:47

to let steadfastness have

1:49

its full effect and that you may be perfect

1:51

and complete lacking in

1:53

nothing. This verse

1:55

speaks to the transformative power of

1:58

patience, and the way that it can help

2:00

us become the people that God

2:02

has called us to be. So how

2:04

can we harness this power of patience

2:06

in our own journey of addiction recovery?

2:09

Here are a few examples and

2:11

thoughts and ideas to consider.

2:15

Number one, embrace the journey. One

2:18

of the most important things we can do is to accept

2:20

that the journey of recovery is a long

2:22

and often difficult one. Instead

2:25

of focusing solely on the end goal of complete

2:27

healing and freedom from addiction, we

2:30

can learn to appreciate the small victories

2:32

along the way, and to recognize the

2:34

ways in which we are growing and changing,

2:36

even in the midst of our struggles. Number

2:39

two. Trust in God's timing.

2:43

It can be frustrating when progress seems slower

2:45

when we encounter setbacks along the way.

2:49

But as believers we can trust in God's

2:51

timing and his plan for our lives.

2:54

We can be confident that he is working all

2:56

things together for our good Romans

2:59

8:28 and

3:02

that he will never leave us or forsake us.

3:04

As found in Hebrews 13:5.

3:09

Number three. Lean on the support

3:12

of others. It's important to remember

3:14

that we don't have to go through the journey of recovery

3:16

alone. We can lean on

3:18

the support of family, friends,

3:20

and faith communities and seek

3:22

out professional help when needed. The

3:25

encouragement and accountability of others

3:28

can help us stay the course and remain patient.

3:31

Even in the face of difficulties, number

3:34

four. And finally

3:37

practice self care. It's

3:39

important to take care of ourselves, physically,

3:42

emotionally, and spiritually, as we work towards

3:44

recovery. This means getting

3:46

enough, rest eating well, exercising

3:49

and seeking out healthy coping mechanisms

3:52

for stress and anxiety. When

3:54

we take care of ourselves in these ways, we're

3:56

better equipped to stay patient and persevere

3:59

through the challenges of addiction recovery.

4:02

And all of these things, the power of patient

4:04

remains a crucial component of our journey

4:06

toward lasting change and freedom from

4:09

addiction. So I encourage

4:11

you to embrace this power in your own

4:13

life, trusting in God's

4:15

plan and relying on the support of others.

4:18

As you move forward on the path toward healing

4:20

and wholeness. So

4:22

today, I challenge you to call on God

4:24

for patients trust in his power

4:26

and guidance. Lean on his

4:28

promises and surround yourself

4:31

with. With support as you journey

4:33

toward lasting freedom from addiction.

4:36

With God, by your side, you can endure

4:38

any trial and emerge, stronger, wiser,

4:40

and more patient than ever before. Thank

4:43

you so much for tuning into this. Daily
