Welcome to the 99 relapses podcast.

0:40

I'm your host, James Egidio and online

0:42

Christian recovery coach and

0:44

counselor. In today's devotional.

0:47

I'll be talking about Embracing God's Strength

0:49

in Weakness. As human beings, we often

0:51

try to mask our weaknesses and hide them

0:53

from others. In addiction, recovery

0:56

however, we must confront our weaknesses

0:58

head-on and seek help from

1:00

a higher power. As

1:02

believers, we can find hope in surrendering

1:04

our weaknesses to God and embracing his

1:07

strength to overcome them. In

1:09

2 Corinthians 12:9-10,

1:12

it reads the apostle. Paul writes.

1:15

But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for

1:17

you. For my power is made perfect

1:20

in weakness. Therefore,

1:22

I will boast all the more gladly about

1:24

my weaknesses. So

1:26

that Christ's power may rest on me. That

1:29

is why for Christ's sake. I delight in weakness,

1:31

in insults, in hardships, in persecutions,

1:35

in difficulties. For when

1:37

I am weak, then I am strong. This

1:40

passage reminds us that God's grace

1:42

is enough to sustain us through our weakness.

1:46

When we surrender our struggles to him, we

1:48

invite his power to work through us.

1:52

Our weaknesses do not have to define us

1:54

or hold us back from living a fulfilling life.

1:57

In the book of Psalm 73:26.

2:01

It reads a Psalmist declares. My flesh

2:03

and my heart may fail. But

2:05

God is the strength of my heart and

2:07

my portion forever. This

2:10

verse offers hope and encouragement to

2:12

those who feel like they are constantly struggling

2:14

with their addiction. We

2:16

may feel weak and powerless, but God

2:18

is our strength and our refuge. He

2:21

is the source of our hope and our joy. It

2:24

can be tempting to rely solely on our own strength

2:27

and willpower in addiction, recovery. However

2:30

in Proverbs 3:5-6.

2:32

It reminds us that trust in the Lord

2:35

with all your heart and lean, not on your

2:37

own understanding. And all

2:39

your ways submit to him and he will make your path

2:41

straight. When we surrender

2:44

our weaknesses to God and trust in him.

2:46

He will guide us on the path toward lasting

2:48

recovery. Even

2:51

Jesus, the son of God relied on his father's

2:53

strength during his time on earth. In

2:55

Matthew 26:39.

2:58

Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane.

3:01

"My father, if it is possible, may this

3:03

cup be taken from me yet,

3:06

not as I will, but as you will. Jesus

3:09

acknowledged his weakness and surrendered

3:11

it to his father, trusting in his plan.

3:15

In addiction recovery, we can follow Jesus

3:17

example, and surrender our weaknesses

3:19

to God. We can ask him

3:21

for the strength to resist temptation and the

3:23

courage to seek help when we need it.

3:26

We can trust in his plan for our lives,

3:28

even when it may not align with our own.

3:31

To all those who are struggling with addiction, I challenge

3:33

you to embrace God's strength in your

3:35

weakness. Instead of trying

3:37

to mask or hide your struggles, surrender

3:39

them to him and trust in his power

3:42

to guide you through your recovery journey.

3:44

Remember. With God's strength,

3:46

you can overcome any obstacle. So

3:49

lean on him for support trust

3:51

in his plan and allow his grace to work

3:53

in and through you. May you find

3:56

hope and healing and embracing your weaknesses

3:58

and surrendering them to God. Thanks
