Your career path isn’t always a straight line. And the job that you do now or are thinking of doing next might not have even existed when you were having your meeting with your career’s adviser all those years ago!

This is one of the reasons we get itchy feet. We see an alternative way of combining our experiences that would enable us to do something for a living that was just not possible a decade or two ago but we’re stuck in the more conventional path that was the norm when we were first planning our adult career.

Tim Tavender runs courses helping people create online courses but he started professional life as a PE teacher. Since then he’s pulled together pieces of experience from all over his personal and professional life to become, first a digital marketer and now an online courses expert – businesses that simply didn’t exist when he was at school. The driver for change was his family and the desire to be more present to his own health and the wellbeing of his wife and kids.

In this interview we talk about:

  • How to leverage your past experiences to design a new business
  • Starting with your ideal client when you think about what business to be in
  • Niching down (finding your starving crowd)
  • How to turn off your inferiority complex and come up with your own ideas
  • Valuing your expertise, even if it comes easy to you
  • How to create online courses that work for You as well as for your clients

You can find out more about Tim on his website, LinkedIn or on his podcast.

As always, you can stay in touch with us on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter the Corporate Escapees group page and of course, the website.
