 My new book, The False White Gospel: Rejecting Christian Nationalism, Reclaiming True Faith, and Refounding Democracy was written for this critical moment. I have put everything into this one. Publishers Weekly just called it an “ardent manifesto” that “promises to be  a conversation starter in church groups and beyond.” I hope and pray so. It will be published on April 2, the Tuesday after Easter, by Essentials, a part of St. Martin’s. They are putting a lot into this too, with a ten to twelve city book tour for the first weeks followed by “town meetings on faith and democracy” around the country, through the spring, early summer, and fall. 

 This book is much more than another critique of white Christian nationalism–which is carefully summarized at the beginning. Centrally, it reframes and refreshes iconic biblical texts with the words of Jesus to help guide us to a future of genuine multiracial democracy, ending with an undergirding vision of a new American church, which I call a remnant church
