I love a podcast that alerts me to a whole new filmic horizon. Ally’s a complete pro and the exceptional variety of his guests and subjects mean I always have a number of Russophile offerings to track down after each pod. Enthusiastic and educational in the very best sense.

As a guest, this was one of the best experiences I've had podcasting yet--it was great fun recording and I always felt listened to and respected by (the much more knowledgable about Russian film than myself!) Alistair. And as a listener, I can tell that doesn't apply to just my experience. Alistair has picked such a wide array of films to cover that you really can learn quite a bit about Russian cinema and, as a result, culture, and his pairings of guest to content are outstanding and really enhance the episodes. Highly recommend giving it a shot, whether or not you've seen the films covered!

A fascinating look at the movies of Russia and the Soviet Union. The discussions between host and guests always bring interesting insights on things related to the particular episode and about the theme in general. Always enjoy listening to an episode on a movie I've watched- a great chance to revisit it with funny, insightful people!

So glad I found this podcast by Ally Pitts. I used to think I was alone in loving Russian & Soviet cinema; now I can listen to like-minded people discussing some of my favourite films. Brilliant!

Right up my inexplicably Slavophilic alley. Informative without being stodgy, and often quite fun. My only qualm is with the somewhat jarring intro music, but that seems to be a feature of most podcasts, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

A lot of fun! The podcast really brings one into the beauty of Russian culture. One need not be afraid to jump into this topic. The hosts enthusiasm helps to carry the listener through which is great. Overall, solid recommend.

From someone who’s only knowledge of films + Russia = David Lean’s, Dr Zhivago I am really enjoying learning about this cinematic genre, thanks to Russophile’s podcast. Ally and Carrie with their engaging little incidentals have A* knowledge and along with their contributors have fact based stuff and interesting opinions about the films they review. Great podcast!
