In this episode, we will be discussing Sigrid Nunez's novel, The Friend. This book won the 2018 National Book Award, and features themes of love, loss, grief, mourning, as well as the timeless bond between animals and humans. As the female narrator mourns the sudden suicide of her mentor/lover, she also has to find a way to save his Great Dane. 

I highly recommend checking out this book if you love animals, if you want to read more about the ways we deal with love and death, if you love humorous observations of the world we live in, or if you simply want to read some truly great writing.
