For the first time in eighteen years, Sudan's troubled region of Darfur, will be under the governorship of a former rebel leader, Mini Arko Minawi, appointed by the Khartoum Transitional Government, following a comprehensive peace agreement he signed together with nine other rebel leaders in neighbouring South Sudan.
