Africa Business Radio — The 72nd UN Assembly General Debate opened on Tuesday, 19 September 2017, with the theme, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.President Muhammadu Buhari delivered his speech at the General Debate, he said that good governance, democracy, and rule of law were expanding in Africa, emphasizing the proactive role played by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in upholding democracy in the Gambia (how true?). He concluded his statement by reaffirming Nigeria’ commitment to the goals and principles of the UN in order to build a more peaceful and developed world.With the recent events in Nigeria, specifically about Prince Kanu and the agitations by the Independent People of Biafra, one would ask if President Buhari and his cabinet have what it takes to properly manage the level of dissatisfactions by many Nigerians and also the different ideological movements across the different regions in Nigeria ( or everyone is playing politics as usual, looking at the fact that election is around the corner again); the Oodua Republic, the Independent People of Biafra etc.Most of the terrorist groups that the world if currently dealing with for example Isis, Boko-haram etc, they all started same way and the problem at hand is that, if things are not managed properly now, Nigeria might finds herself dealing with another version of Boko-haram but in this case, IPOB.Mr Ogunsina Ibukun joins the conversation as we discuss what is at stake and what we can be done.
