This week's guest is Pamela Machala. Welcome to episode 3! I first met Pamela at Durango Song Expo, then again at Song School in Lyons. We run in similar circles in the Denver scene, and we are even in the same songwriting group. It was great to make some time to sit down and really get to know each other and talk music. Our conversation started off deep right from the start, and it was great to get Pamela’s insight into where songs come from, marketing and making a living playing music and her recording process for “Something Simple,” her latest album, which we hear some songs from. Pamela is an accomplished, award-winning songwriter. 2018 American Songwriter Magazine Lyric Contest “Pamela's song was a runaway winner...It's the largest margin for a winning song we've ever had.” - 2019 SongDoor International Songwriting Competition Bio Pamela is a native of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, and grew up in a family of professional classical musicians. Her grandfather was Louis Teicher of piano duo Ferrante & Teicher. When asked about how she started playing music, Pamela recalls, “It’s like that joke where two young fish are swimming along and an older fish asks them how the water is. One fish turns to the other and says, ‘what the hell is water?’ In my family, music was always around and part of everyday life. It was just what we did.” Hours of practice time was the norm for everyone in her household. Pamela’s twin brother is featured on the album playing strings on “Leave You Alone.” Support the Alex Rhodes Show in a non-monetary way, give this podcast or video a like or 5 star review.
