Alive Radio with another self actualizer. Today we talked with Mr. Howard W. Tucker, about his creative career from direct service to executive leadership for systems-level strategic designs. He is a dynamic trainer and expert facilitator. His primary strength is successfully designing and implementing highly complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

Howard has designed systems and approaches for providing technical assistance, training, community collaboration for youth-serving agencies, such as PRIME, Inc., Penn State's Cooperative Extension, The Philadelphia Education Fund, West Philadelphia YMCA, the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southeastern New Jersey, and Philadelphia Safe and Sound.

As executive director of the West Philadelphia Child Care Network, Howard led an agency that provided training and technical assistance to enhance the quality and professionalism to 1,800 teachers and caregivers of young children. He designed and implemented innovative programs, such as play groups focusing on young fathers and Southeast Asian immigrant groups. He provided leadership and lobbying for the revision of Philadelphia zoning codes to support early childhood education businesses.

As the Director of outreach for the Neighborhood Interfaith Movement, Howard created a cross-sector interagency collaboration of 20 agencies to support early childhood education. Sectors represented faith-based, business, non-profit, education, colleges/universities, state and city legislators, and early childhood practitioners. His model of cross-sector collaboration was replicated by the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southeastern New Jersey.

As President and CEO of Better Tomorrows, Howard pursued opportunities for individual, community, and generational transformation through magnifying opportunities. He oversaw Better Tomorrows’ growing impact through data-driven case management and programming tailored to meet the specific needs of 20,000 affordable housing residents located 120 communities in 16 states. He was responsible for oversight of the Better Tomorrows’ strategic planning initiative and Board of Trustees relations. Howard provided active leadership in sharing the mission and vision of Better Tomorrows with current and potential donors and Foundations.

Howard is the president and chief executive officer of VISION 4 EDU,LLC. His firm designs strategic systems-level initiatives and innovative educational programs and offers professional development and technical assistance.
