In S1E10 of allegedly?!, we talk about beauty and desirability! Specifically, we talk about all the ways beauty has been rendered as a tool of violence. We set out to explore the ways beauty has served to only strengthen the holds that fatphobia, colorism, ableism, ageism, and many other -isms and -phobias have in our society, while also recognizing the role we have in upholding beauty standards that not only inflict violence on those around us but also ourselves. However, in recognizing that, how do we move forward? How do we honor the beauty in ourselves and everything that surrounds us, despite acknowledging the ways in which the very concept of beauty has been used to enact so much harm?!
