BMW tailgates me hard, so I

0:02

trick him into chasing me over

0:04

a tall bump that sends him

0:07

flying. Here's what happened. Subscribe

0:09

to AMI the Jerk on YouTube and hit the

0:11

bell for notifications. I'm

0:14

driving to work a few months ago

0:16

and getting close. I have two turns

0:18

remaining until I turn into the building.

0:20

It's just a few blocks away. All

0:23

side streets, no highways involved. This guy

0:25

behind me is in a black BMW

0:27

and he's on my butt the whole

0:29

time. I see him checking his phone,

0:31

then making angry faces at me and

0:33

getting closer and closer. I speed up

0:36

a bit thinking it might calm him

0:38

down. 5 over. Nope, anyway,

0:40

I make the first turn and am now

0:42

on the street where my building is. Maybe

0:45

600 yards up ahead. The Jerk is

0:47

still behind me, driving inches from the

0:49

back of my car and obviously ticked

0:51

that I'm still going the speed limit.

0:55

I see 35 on this street, so I speed

0:57

up a bit and see he does the same.

0:59

I drive an 8 year old Toyota truck, not

1:01

one of the big huge ones, but not one

1:04

of the small ones. I

1:06

do have all terrain tires and I've

1:08

certainly driven through pastures, over rocks, popped

1:10

a curb or 10 in my time.

1:12

My suspension is in good shape and

1:14

I have no problem treating my decade

1:17

old truck like a truck. Well, as

1:19

I get closer to my building, there's

1:21

a large speed bump in the street,

1:23

effectively to get people to slow down

1:25

as they approach the parking garage entrances.

1:27

I look back and see Jerk is

1:29

still riding my bumper. I remember thinking

1:31

to myself, I need to slow down

1:33

for this speed bump, and looking back

1:35

and thinking, if I hit my brakes,

1:37

this guy's gonna hit me. The plan

1:39

takes shape in my mind, and I

1:42

speed up. I'm doing about 45 when

1:45

I hit that speed bump, and yeehaw!

1:47

I did a bit of a jump

1:49

and land, never once touching my brakes,

1:52

didn't even tap them. I gave him

1:54

zero warning for what was about to

1:56

happen. I'm watching my rearview mirror intensely

1:59

during this, because because I wanted to

2:01

see his reaction. He was cradling his

2:03

cell phone between his ear and his

2:05

shoulder when he hit. His hood buckled

2:07

up behind me, then slammed into the

2:09

ground. I see him go flying out

2:11

of his seat straight up. He slams

2:13

his head on the roof of his

2:15

BMW and his head rolls sideways from

2:17

the impact. He then slams back into

2:19

his seat violently. He has a total

2:22

what the heck was that look on

2:24

his face as he grabs the wheel

2:26

with both hands to recover. And

2:28

yes. He slowed right down after

2:30

that. You know

2:33

I get that you're in a hurry some days

2:35

but it still comes down to other people's safety.

2:37

You gotta be leaving enough space between you

2:39

and the car in front for reasons like

2:41

this. Our original poster didn't feel

2:44

safe hitting the brakes going over the speed

2:46

bump. Sure there may have been a little

2:48

bit of maliciousness involved here as well, but

2:50

the alternative would have been to hit the

2:52

brakes and let him slam into the back

2:55

of you. Then both of you have damaged

2:57

vehicles. Nobody wins. At

2:59

least this way the guy who deserves to get his

3:01

car wrecked gets his car wrecked and our

3:03

original poster can't be blamed for the

3:05

way it happened. You

3:22

keeps trying to make noise complaints about

3:24

us so we give her something to

3:26

complain about so this all happened about

3:28

15 years ago give or

3:30

take. When I was still a kid

3:32

living at home we had a house

3:34

with a huge backyard in the suburbs

3:36

and the neighboring property next to our

3:39

driveway was a set of three attached

3:41

rental flats, each with their own front

3:43

door facing our house. We were usually

3:45

good friends with most of our neighbors,

3:47

the flats next door included. After the

3:49

family in the middle flat left an

3:51

older single woman moved in. She

3:53

was home more often than not

3:55

so I doubt she had a

3:57

job and wasn't particularly friendly. She

4:00

kept to herself, which is fine,

4:02

and never really acknowledged any of

4:04

the neighbors. Whatever, that's cool. So

4:06

one Saturday around midday I was

4:08

out back with the lawnmower earning

4:10

myself some pocket money. It's

4:13

a big yard, so about 20 minutes

4:15

in I was about halfway done, and

4:17

suddenly a noise control officer knocks on

4:19

the door. He tells us to hurry

4:21

it up and that they'd received a

4:24

complaint, and though they thought it was

4:26

ridiculous they had to say something. Bit

4:28

stupid, but whatever. Now we weren't a

4:30

loud family, no parties or screaming or

4:32

anything like that at all. Over the

4:34

next month however we kept getting visits

4:37

from noise control, always during the day

4:39

mind you. We would get visits for

4:41

mowing the lawns and even at a

4:43

couple of complaints about my younger sister

4:45

and I playing and hanging out in

4:47

the backyard on weekends, or in the

4:49

afternoon after school. Again, we weren't all

4:52

that loud. At the time I would

4:54

have been about 13, so

4:56

more often than not the boy next door

4:58

and I would just be chilling on the

5:00

swings, just talking, not loud, just being

5:02

outside. Now we'd never had an issue

5:05

with noise before, none of our other

5:07

neighbors ever had a problem, we'd never

5:09

had noise control called before now. So

5:11

we asked around. It was fairly obvious

5:13

at this point that the snobby cow

5:15

that had moved into the flat next

5:17

door was the one doing all the

5:20

complaining. My father would always stock up

5:22

on firewood in the summer to prepare

5:24

for winter, and would have to chop

5:26

it up himself. It's the first weekend

5:28

of chopping for the year, and

5:30

it's about 2pm on a Saturday. He

5:32

pulls out his old chainsaw, and it's

5:34

on for about a minute and a

5:36

half at most before he realizes the

5:38

chain needs to be replaced. He turns

5:40

it off, grabs the axe and proceeds

5:42

to chop wood the old fashioned way.

5:45

Next thing we know, noise control shows

5:47

up. The officers are sick of having

5:49

to visit at this point, and we're

5:51

pretty friendly with that by now. Turns

5:53

out that yes, it was the new neighbor

5:55

next door. It also turns out that

5:57

she'd been an issue for them for

6:00

a while and that Noise Control

6:02

was well aware of her stupid

6:04

complaints from all of her previous

6:06

addresses. Unfortunately they were legally obligated

6:08

to follow through with them. Next

6:11

weekend, surprise surprise, we get another visit

6:13

after dad's been chopping more wood. With

6:15

the axe, the chainsaw was still out

6:17

of action. At this point he decides

6:20

screw it, why not give her something

6:22

to actually complain about. A family friend

6:24

of ours happened to be a truck

6:26

driver. He drives a big rig up

6:28

and down the country. He also

6:30

happened to be back in town that

6:32

weekend. We give him a ring and

6:35

he's keen to help us out. Next

6:37

step is to warn all the other

6:39

neighbors who are fully on board because

6:41

as it turns out we weren't the

6:43

only ones she was complaining about. Proceed

6:45

to next weekend around 9am and we

6:48

spend about half an hour getting this

6:50

great big truck down our driveway. It

6:52

was a pretty wide driveway but it

6:54

was a pretty wide truck too. So

6:56

it was a tight squeeze. Now having

6:58

been good friends with previous neighbors we

7:01

were familiar with the internal layouts of

7:03

those flats. The bedrooms were directly next

7:05

to their front doors, facing our driveway.

7:07

We managed to get the cab of

7:10

this massive truck far enough into the

7:12

driveway to be directly next to this

7:14

jerk's bedroom. There's about a meter and

7:17

a half separating the truck and her

7:19

wall. Perfect. On goes the

7:21

horn. Loud as heck. It terrified

7:23

our cats. Then it goes

7:26

again and again and then us kids

7:28

get a turn. You could hear that

7:30

thing a block away. We did it

7:32

for about 10 minutes. Go inside for

7:34

a coffee, come back out and run

7:37

the horn one more time for good

7:39

measure before our friend takes off. This

7:41

time there were no noise control officers,

7:44

no complaints, nothing. The jerk left the

7:46

next week. I

7:48

mean hey you can't argue with the

7:50

results. It honestly sounds like this woman's

7:53

just got issues and it's nothing to

7:55

do with you or anyone else around

7:57

you. It's all something that she needs

7:59

to learn. learn how to deal with.

8:01

The fact that these officers know her

8:03

from multiple addresses means that they've had

8:05

to deal with her for quite a

8:07

while and it must mean that she's

8:09

gotta be the one with the issue

8:11

here. The fact that she's had to

8:14

bounce around to so many different places

8:16

also indicates that she's the one that

8:18

doesn't seem to be happy wherever she's

8:20

at. While I'm sure she left each

8:22

of those places for probably similar reasons

8:24

of it just being something that she

8:26

felt she couldn't tolerate anymore, I doubt

8:28

in any of those instances she got

8:30

blasted out by a truck horn. I

8:34

replaced the jelly in my

8:36

jerk co-worker's donut with something...less

8:38

pleasant. This happened about 20

8:40

years ago when I was a teacher in

8:43

a small high school. There was one

8:45

teacher who was absolutely toxic and would say

8:47

inappropriate things to students about the teachers he

8:49

didn't like. He once told some students of

8:52

mine that I didn't get invited to parties

8:54

because I was a stiff. His dislike for

8:56

me stemmed from the fact that I

8:58

was vying for promotion device principal and he

9:00

felt threatened by it. He did a bunch

9:03

of other things that gave me a

9:05

slam dunk workplace harassment case against him

9:07

but I never pursued it. One day

9:09

he brought in donuts and left them

9:11

in the staff room. However, being the

9:13

guy he was, he put little toothpick

9:15

flags in them with everyone's name on

9:18

them but mine. He also left a

9:20

note on the table saying help yourself

9:22

not you original poster. The one with

9:24

his name on it was one of

9:26

those powdered jelly filled things. In full

9:28

view of some of the other teachers

9:30

who were gobsmacked by his behavior, I

9:32

took a straw, sucked all the jelly

9:35

out of it, then refilled it with

9:37

mustard. Then I put it back into

9:39

the box, unwrapped my sandwich and waited.

9:41

He came into the lunch room with

9:43

a big ol' grin on his face

9:45

as he looked at me and nodded.

9:47

I munched my carrot sticks. One of

9:49

the women thanked him for the donuts.

9:51

He just smirked, picked up his and

9:53

took a big bite out of it

9:55

right in front of me. The look

9:57

of horror, confusion and disgust on that

9:59

jerk's face. was priceless. This

10:02

one's honestly kind of harmless. The

10:04

original poster definitely showed that they're

10:07

not as much of a stiff

10:09

as this jerk thought they were.

10:11

I mean, they did manage to

10:13

get one over on you. A

10:15

donut filled with mustard though sounds

10:17

absolutely disgusting. Believe.

10:49

decides she's the bathroom police and

10:52

isn't gonna let me take the kid

10:54

I'm babysitting in to go to the

10:56

bathroom. This happened a while ago. I

10:58

was about 18 or 19 at

11:00

the time and babysat our neighbor's three-year-old.

11:02

He loved animals. It was the middle

11:04

of spring, so nice and warm. I

11:06

decided to ask his mother if it

11:08

would be fine to take him to

11:10

a petting zoo in the city. Everybody

11:12

was excited, me included. So we went.

11:14

We had a ton of fun. He

11:16

got a large amount of animal feed

11:18

so he could enjoy himself. Nothing was

11:20

weird up until this point. Nobody was

11:22

staring and I felt it was pretty obvious

11:24

that I wasn't in fact his mother but

11:27

rather just babysitting him. Now came the time

11:29

where the little guy needed to pee. Not

11:31

a problem, I thought to myself. So I

11:33

took him to the bathroom. There was a

11:36

large line in front of the women's bathroom

11:38

but since I had to accompany him because

11:40

he was too young to use the adult

11:42

toilet himself, we couldn't just go into the

11:45

men's room, which was empty. I figured waiting

11:47

in line for a minute or two wasn't

11:49

gonna be an issue. Enter Karen. Hi,

11:52

um, excuse me, she said, tapping me

11:54

on the shoulder. Yes? I Thought that

11:56

maybe since she had a little girl

11:58

with her that she... Might have

12:00

just wanted to as to skip ahead

12:03

in the line since her little girl

12:05

needed the p badly or something. Is

12:07

this your child's Oh no, this is

12:09

my neighbor's kid. I'm just babysitting today

12:12

and why the heck are you taking

12:14

him to the bathroom? Then she got

12:16

very aggressive straight away. excuse me see

12:18

needs to use the bathroom and is

12:21

clearly too young to do so by

12:23

himself, so obviously I'm accompanying him. What

12:25

am I supposed to do? Just let

12:27

him p his pants. This is highly.

12:30

Inappropriate. Only his parents in a companies

12:32

and to the bathroom. easy boy. And

12:34

on top of that, not even your

12:36

child's god knows what you might do

12:38

in there with them. Okay, so now

12:40

I was getting kind attacked. At that

12:42

point in my life. I dealt with

12:44

a lot of bull crap from people

12:46

since I was a nurse and people

12:48

in the hospital tend to be as

12:50

entitled as hack when they don't get

12:52

their way. I was absolutely capable of

12:54

defending myself with words and I already

12:56

lost my temper with her being so

12:58

rude. So I said. Very loudly. You

13:01

think I look at his privates in

13:03

their know, what the hell? What? Are

13:05

You have to make a bathroom trip

13:08

with a small child Sexual? Do you

13:10

think about that when you take your

13:12

girl to the bathroom? Oh my god

13:14

would you do stuff to your girl?

13:17

Oh that's disgusting. More: would you even

13:19

think about something sexual when taking your

13:21

little boy going to the bathroom? Now

13:23

I said old these things kind of

13:26

very sarcastically as it was just meant

13:28

to scare her off. but obviously. I

13:30

said in loud enough for a lot

13:32

of people to hear know everybody looked

13:35

at are disgusted and whispered or even

13:37

chimed in with me to tell her

13:39

thinking stuff like that was disgusting in

13:42

that she should just leave me alone.

13:44

She looked mortified at this point and

13:46

says backed away and left. Moral of

13:49

the story: Please let people take children

13:51

to the bathroom peacefully because I couldn't

13:53

have just let the poor boy Peace

13:56

Pants. Yeah.

13:58

i hate to say it but i

14:00

was thinking the same thing going through

14:02

this story. Like why is that even

14:04

your first thought? They're clearly just looking

14:07

after the kid for the day. And

14:09

what else are they supposed to do?

14:11

You can't send the kid in there

14:13

by themselves. The kid's 3 years old.

14:15

He clearly can't be in there alone.

14:18

The only alternative is for the adult

14:20

who's looking after them to take them

14:22

in. The fact that that's where your

14:24

mind goes is a lot more disturbing

14:26

than what they're doing and looking after

14:28

the kid that they're responsible for. Our

14:31

original poster called attention to what

14:33

was going on and our Karen

14:35

swayed to public opinion. It

14:37

does happen once in a while. My

14:40

boss ate half my lunch while I

14:42

was in the bathroom. I went to

14:44

the bathroom and came back to find

14:46

my lunch box open and half of

14:48

my meal missing. Confused I asked what

14:50

had happened to an older lady who

14:52

sits next to me. She responded that

14:54

our boss came in, noticed the food

14:57

on the table, took half of it

14:59

on a plate and left for a

15:01

meeting. I got angry and complained about

15:03

how unacceptable that was but she told

15:05

me to just shrug it off and

15:07

that it's to be expected. I mean

15:09

I'm debating just taking a crap on her

15:11

desk and saying I'm giving her the other half

15:13

of the sandwich. I

15:16

don't think you're gonna get the reaction you

15:18

want doing that but it's probably gonna feel

15:20

pretty good in more ways than one. I'd

15:22

say your best bet to get her to

15:25

stop faking them is to bring in a

15:27

crappy lunch that you leave on your desk

15:29

and she'll see the kind of stuff that

15:31

you bring in and hopefully not even bother

15:34

with your stuff from now on. Either way

15:36

though it's a real jerk move coming from

15:38

your boss. I

15:41

impersonated my wife to sort out

15:43

her banking issues. This took place

15:45

about 15 years ago and involved

15:47

a large corporate banking entity. I

15:49

forget the name of it but

15:51

for the sake of this story

15:53

let's call it Fells Wargo. This

15:55

is potentially an example of malicious

15:57

compliance but it took some creative

15:59

hours outside the box thinking prompted by

16:01

their own phrasing. So I'll let you

16:04

be the judge. There are some important

16:06

parts that come into play. My

16:09

spouse and I were young and dumb financially.

16:11

We both had bounced a few checks on

16:14

our own checking accounts. They were closed a

16:16

few years prior. Fels

16:18

Wargo offered a way to rehab your

16:21

checking account history. They offered you the

16:23

opportunity to pay them an additional $10

16:25

per month to have the right to

16:27

a checking account. They restricted the release

16:29

of funds and made life difficult

16:31

to even have a checking account. But

16:33

if you played by their rules, you

16:36

could graduate to a traditional checking account

16:38

after a year. I

16:41

participated in the opportunity checking and graduated

16:43

my account. My spouse had lived without

16:45

a checking account for a few years

16:48

and wanted to try again. I

16:51

took my spouse to Fels Wargo.

16:53

We specifically explained their previous history

16:55

and specifically asked for the crappy

16:57

checking rebuilding account. We knew my

16:59

spouse needed to start at the bottom. The

17:03

manager of the branch enters the basic

17:05

information and declared there was no need

17:07

for the rehab checking account. They qualified

17:09

for the regular account. We asked again

17:11

to be absolutely sure. Yes, no rehab

17:13

needed. Here's some starter checks. Your ATM

17:16

card will be in the mail in

17:18

a week. They gladly took an initial

17:20

cash deposit of $500. Fast

17:23

forward a week and we get the ATM

17:25

card. We called to activate it. Our account

17:27

has been closed. Why? We

17:30

determined you have bad checking history previously.

17:32

We go round and round about how

17:34

we covered this, disclosed it up front

17:36

and asked for the checking rehab account.

17:38

Y'all have to go back and open

17:41

that account if you want it. We

17:43

can't change the account. So

17:45

they're closing the account because we

17:47

needed to have the rehab checking

17:49

account. The one we specifically asked

17:51

for and they refused. My spouse

17:54

didn't know what to say. So

17:56

we got on speakerphone. I started

17:58

asking questions. Will you

18:00

pay the outstanding checks and refund the

18:03

rest? No, we won't pay any checks.

18:05

You'll be charged for return checks from

18:07

your merchants. My spouse wrote three checks

18:09

totaling less than $100. Very

18:12

few places accepted starter checks. They have

18:14

the funds in the closed account to

18:16

pay for them. Where's the issue? We

18:19

don't do that. At this point they

18:21

became flustered. Nobody seems to

18:23

ever have the funds or the audacity to

18:26

demand them to pay checks written in good

18:28

faith. They had no answers on how

18:30

they refused the checking account we requested

18:32

and would have been okay to have.

18:34

They didn't think they had a responsibility

18:36

to notify us the account was closed.

18:39

And how dare we challenge their policy?

18:41

They didn't like how I kept pointing

18:43

out how there wasn't a single thing

18:45

we did wrong. But they think they're

18:47

not responsible for return check fees. So

18:49

they decided to not talk to me

18:52

anymore. They hung up. We

18:54

call back. Repeat. They

18:56

finally offered this gem. They won't talk to

18:58

anyone except the name on the account. Click.

19:01

Their only possible choice to avoid a

19:03

difficult discussion where they own their mistakes

19:05

was clinging to not letting someone else

19:08

ask questions with the account holder's permission.

19:10

They even refused to let me tell

19:12

my spouse what to ask and respond

19:14

to my spouse directly. You can only

19:16

talk to the name on the account?

19:18

Okay. So I called back.

19:20

Miraculously, in 60 seconds I now

19:22

identify it as a different person.

19:25

Thanks for calling Fels Wargo. Can I

19:27

have your name? I give my spouse's

19:29

name. There's a long pause. Uh,

19:32

you're not that person. Sure I

19:34

am. Ask me anything. Name,

19:36

Social Security number, address, mother's maiden

19:38

name, date of birth. I verified

19:40

it all as the name on

19:42

the account. There's a long

19:44

pause. No, you aren't

19:47

them. Why do you say that? Because

19:49

you're a man. Wait a minute. That's

19:52

why you closed my account? Because

19:54

I'm a man? I'm pretty sure

19:56

that's against ECOA. Maybe

19:58

Regulation B. These are

20:00

laws stating discrimination on gender is

20:02

illegal. Things can't reference gender or

20:05

other protected classes to close accounts.

20:07

Ugh, please hold. A manager finally comes

20:10

on. We have a little back and

20:12

forth about who I identify as, but

20:14

seeing as how I'm not doing anything

20:16

except demanding they pay checks on my

20:19

spouse's account, written by my spouse, with

20:21

funds in their possession, there isn't much

20:23

they can fight, but they finally agree

20:25

to pay the three checks from the

20:28

funds in the account. They didn't want

20:30

to, even in the end, but the

20:32

name on the account demanded it. The

20:34

fallout? They had to do the right

20:36

thing after wasting hours fighting it. Comment.

20:40

When my mom died and we were

20:42

trying to close accounts or switch names

20:44

on them, things like paying off mortgage

20:46

and changing names on the utilities, things

20:48

that needed to be done soonish after

20:50

she passed, I was told repeatedly that

20:53

they would only speak with the account

20:55

holder. I understood they were just

20:57

following their training, but she was dead. How

21:00

are they going to get in touch with her?

21:02

I told one person that they'd need a medium

21:04

or a Ouija board to speak to her, and

21:06

if they did make contact to have her call

21:08

me, because I wanted to speak to her too. Response.

21:12

When my grandmother passed, my grandfather took her

21:14

urn with him to the various banks and

21:16

whatnot. He placed it on people's desks so

21:19

they could speak to her directly. It made

21:21

the process a whole lot quicker. This

21:24

is the behavior that I just

21:27

find disgusting. Like why are they

21:29

picking on you, the little guy,

21:31

over a hundred dollars that they

21:33

actually have access to? A hundred

21:35

dollars is absolutely nothing to a

21:37

bank, but it's everything to you

21:39

where you're just trying to make

21:41

ends meet. But they don't

21:43

care. They're gonna sit there and screw you

21:45

over and hang on to your money. God

21:47

forbid they should have to do the right

21:49

thing and actually get money from the people

21:51

who have it. These banks

21:53

are just crooks. What

22:00

he were dawn in the background to finish listening

22:02

to all the stories. Or if you want some

22:04

by be music to put on and background check

22:06

out Easy Mode if you like am I the

22:09

jerk give am I the genius of shot. Everything's

22:11

linked in. The description.
