Quite frankly, I've been around this game for a while and there are certain genres that become successful in the podcast marketplace, such as true crime series, family help forums and the occasional personality-led interview type shows, but THIS is different, THIS is original and THIS is what I was looking for. Wildly entertaining, often bloody insane but I absolutely love it. Two guys with a passion for rock and a passion for creating characters and adventure series are let loose to explore their own world. It's fascinating, amazing sound, clever and above all, a rollocking good listen! Highly recommended for those who want a bite in their podcast.
Came across this on Spotify. Not sure what it was when I clicked on it, but I liked the logo. I was blown away at their stuff. It's high energy comedy and nothing like I heard before. Amplevoicepod are Irish and create their own unique audio drama stories and a rock show format, and they're a bit crazy. They don't much like anyone, or each other it sounds like, as they don't agree much. They seem to have it in for everyone like celebs, influencers, politicians and the average shmoe. They don't discriminate with their targets. But it's not a commentary-style thing, it's fullblown audio theater, with great effects and seems like a cast of a hundred characters. Like the other reviewers say, the sound is superlative and it IS rude and sick. The production values are off the charts and if it was a duel between Amplevoicepod's Friday Rock Show and Joe Rogan, Joe would receive such a slap down. These are the Kings of the Rock podcast! And the way they do audio theater too is incredible and that they insert it into their shows during their email stories is, well, listen for yourself! RG.
What these guys can do in whipping up an atmosphere in their audio adventures is simply spellbinding. Nothing quite like it that I know of. Just listen to their Frumpy Dumpster, it is by far the most entertaining yet uncomfortable feeling I've had hearing a podcast. What a woman. It's not real-life but it has its own razor-sharp self-contained world. If HP Lovecraft was a pervert, this is what he would write. Maybe some characters are too broadly written but the voices are great. It's murder and mayhem with a foreboding that hums along within the wonderful sound design. Natural atmospheres, foley, score, bringing the story alive in your head. It's visceral, farcical and at times strangely poignant. There's a moment in one of their epic Panspermia tales (I think #1 or #2) that all the sound design fades and it's just a conversation between four friends of a decision to kill one of them. Powerful yet absurd. Fantastic.
