David Weigel is a political journalist. He currently works for The Washington Post, and is a contributing editor for Reason magazine.Weigel started out as an editorial assistant and researcher for the USA Today editorial page, and as a reporter for Campaigns & Elections. He went on to write for Reason magazine, then The Washington Independent, then The Washington Post as the writer of the "Right Now" column. He became a news contributor to MSNBC, then left to write for Slate magazine. He moved from Slate to Bloomberg Politics, and from there to his current position at The Washington Post.Weigel's work has appeared in Slate, The Daily Beast, Time, The Guardian, The American Prospect, The American Spectator, The Washington Monthly, The American Conservative, Politico, and The Nation. He has appeared on NPR's Fresh Air and MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show. He has also blogged for The Economist's "Democracy in America" blog, and guest-blogged for Andrew Sullivan's "Daily Dish" blog at The Atlantic.Weigel's first book, "The Show That Never Ends: The Rise and Fall of Prog Rock," was published in 2017.Weigel was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He received his BS in journalism, political science, and history from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
