What's your plan for health care? What is the plan for healthcare? We’re in the worst of all worlds right now, with American Healthcare, and it's like this crazy, hodgepodge, Frankenstein system that has gotten built on top of itself over and over again. For people out there who like market-based solutions, Healthcare is not that. It doesn’t make sense for Marketplace competition. You're not going to be an expert on everything. When you need treatment, you become price insensitive, like as soon as it's you or your family member, sometimes you're incapacitated and unable to make a proper choice. If you're sick, you’re not going to comparison shop. So there are a lot of things to make the individual Marketplace-participant-type situation non-feasible.

So then you say, “OK, what's the current system?” So the current system is, we have this giant private insurance industry and, in part, as a result of that, we're spending twice as much on Healthcare as just about any other country. We’re at 18% of GDP, which, in a 20 trillion dollar economy, it's like 3.6 trillion. And it would be one thing if we were all remarkably healthy as a result of all this expense, but we are not. We are under-performing on very basic measurements like infant mortality. And some of that is due to the massive inequality. You know that, and that plays a role, but really, by any standard, we are not getting Great Value, or bang for our buck. And the confusion around this is that people are like, “Oh, how are you going to pay for it?” “How are you going to pay for it?” “How can you afford it?” We are all paying for it already. 18% of GDP, again. We're all paying for it, in ways big and small. And so if you happen to be employed while you're watching this and you have Healthcare through your employer, than maybe you're like: “My health care is pretty great.” Of course, it’s not free because your employer is spending thousands of dollars a year on your Healthcare, and reducing your compensation accordingly. And so if you were to have a choice… I employ young people, and I was a young person once upon a time, and if you're in a situation where you were like, “Hey, I'm 25,” and you don't actually use the doctor all that much, and then your employer were to be like, “Hey, would you prefer some sweet health insurance that you're likely to never to use, or a little bit more money in your paycheck?” Of course, you take the money in your paycheck. Your preferences shift when you're older where it's like, “Please please please give me like a gold-plated health care because I use it all the time.” So there is likely to be shifting preferences over time. They get completely obscured by the current system because you take the young person... but the point I'm making is that if you think you're not paying for healthcare, you are. You're paying for healthcare in terms of your paycheck, you're paying for healthcare in all of the prices that you ever encounter, because if you buy a good from a company. they're spending on Healthcare. We're all paying the price, because now, all these companies are trying to push us all to Gig, temporary, or contract work because they don't want to give us health care because that's just the economic incentives. 94% of new jobs are gig, contract, or temporary work. So if you think about all of those companies and all the money they spend on Healthcare and then all of the impact on pricing and on your paycheck and on health care costs if you interact with the system is essentially the giant hidden tax and so when people say how you going to pay for having to pay for it it's like well look if we take the same 18% of GDP that we're spending on Healthcare and we shift it from businesses and families where it is in large part right now and then shifted to the public sector that's not really like an expense transfer of money we're already spending within our families and businesses and on prices and then you shifted to the public library and
