Being busy can be a great feeling. It can make us think we’re doing better than others we may meet in our life. But, the problem with being busy is that busyness can soon become just the next thing on a to do list. And that is never good when it comes to the relationships that matter most to us.
One of the most important words in the English language is the word “No”. It’s a word I actively encourage people I meet to use in their own lives because – before too long – we’ve not said no enough and our brains can be overwhelmed just failing to keep up with all our responsibilities and activities.
The idea of setting priorities in our place of work might seem fairly obvious. But, how good are you at protecting that which matters most? Your marriage, your friendships, your time and relationship with God, your children?
If you’re struggling to make decisions it might be nothing more than the fact you’re so utterly overwhelmed that you can’t actually process the thoughts needed.
So, for your sake, and the people in your life, keep checking in on the things you’re involved with, that aren’t essential, and ask yourself if you need to keep doing them.
And don’t forget that saying no means someone else gets the chance to say yes.
Just a thought…
