Never seen alive by the human eye in its natural environs, the giant squid is a scientific phenomenon of monstrous proportions.
Giant squids are carnivorous and can grow to a massive 20 metres in length. With eyes the size of hubcaps, beak-like mouths which can cut through steel and ten arms teeming with tentacles they were the terror of seafarers.
