0:21
Network. And we are here with
0:23
Lindsay and Shannon who are
0:25
both the creators and
0:27
executive team of an amazing
0:30
new innovation for family
0:32
caregivers and seniors that
0:34
are living alone in their homes
0:37
or independently. Um
0:39
Anything like that in a, an amazing
0:42
product called Care Bloom and
0:44
Shannon and Lindsay. Welcome back
0:46
to answers for elders. Thanks.
0:48
You know, I am very interested
0:51
to dive into Care Bloom.
0:53
So what type of information
0:56
can a caregiver see on
0:58
a Care Bloom app? Absolutely.
1:00
We really want to pull the most important
1:02
information forward for a caregiver.
1:04
So you're gonna be able to see information
1:07
like you're the vitals. So that would
1:09
include temperature, blood pressure, heart
1:11
rate and oxygen saturation. You're
1:13
also going to be able to see uh accurate
1:16
location data. So where they're spending
1:18
most time if they're in the living room,
1:20
kitchen bathroom and really how
1:22
they uh how the mobility looks throughout the
1:24
home. And then the last one is you're going to be
1:26
able to see important health behavioral
1:28
data. And we know that there's
1:30
a lot of smart watches on the market
1:33
that a lot that tell you that you're going to get this health
1:35
and wellness data. But really how we're different
1:38
is that we take that health data and
1:40
we put it in context of behavioral
1:42
and those things look like sleep,
1:44
mobility or status home
1:47
and then self care like toilet and bathroom
1:49
so that you can really be proactive in your
1:51
care. You're not finding out that mom hasn't
1:54
left her bedroom for six hours and
1:56
you're getting off of work and saying, mom, what's
1:58
going on, you're gonna be able to see that there's
2:00
stagnation and maybe something's wrong
2:02
so that you can communicate earlier, find out what's
2:04
going on and be more proactive with
2:06
what your next steps are. We. We also
2:09
thought it was really important to be able to set
2:11
alerts in the home. So if there's a restricted
2:14
room, a room that is a fall
2:16
risk or like the basement or garage
2:18
that you know that your stall
2:22
stairwells, we want to be able to tell
2:24
you, hey, mom's out into the basement
2:26
right now and you can call her and say, hey, I'm coming
2:28
over after work to do laundry. I
2:30
see that you're in the basement. Let's make sure you get up those
2:32
stairs so that you're not finding out
2:34
about it after that. Or
2:36
if your loved one has issues with leaving
2:39
the home at maybe times that they're not
2:41
supposed to or maybe wandering. We
2:43
want to make sure that elopement is part of
2:45
the alert package so
2:47
that it really is sort of all of those behaviors.
2:49
And then if your loved one needs assistance,
2:52
they can actually request it through their watch
2:54
and that notification goes directly to
2:56
your app. It's a push notification and
2:58
you can see mom needs help. She's currently
3:00
in the bathroom and you're able to make
3:02
a plan for what's next. Yeah.
3:04
And you know, it's all, it's such a good
3:07
way of not feeling alone,
3:09
you know, and not having a situation
3:11
where, you know, you might fall
3:13
in the bathroom or you maybe cannot
3:15
get, get up out of a chair. Sometimes
3:18
those things happen. Obviously,
3:21
you guys have the ability to have that
3:23
connection with their primary
3:25
caregiver, daughter, son,
3:28
something like that and it gives that connection.
3:30
So where, you know, you're throughout your day
3:33
as you, as you're working your job
3:35
or anything like that, you could feel come to confident
3:38
of what's happening with your loved one.
3:40
Absolutely. Yeah, I think one of the other unique
3:42
aspects is that the change in behavior. So
3:44
if there's increase in toilet, you
3:47
might be saying, hey, is there a UT I
3:49
thing uh issue or if
3:51
there's decrease are we having
3:53
dehydration issues. So any change
3:55
in behavior would also give you a, you know, there'd
3:57
be alert to give you a deeper insight into
3:59
changes in the care plan. Yeah,
4:02
and that totally makes sense in
4:04
how that all comes together.
4:06
So can you guys give me an example
4:09
of, you know, some of the ways in which
4:11
people are using care care bloom?
4:14
Absolutely. I think actually
4:16
just like following on with Shannon
4:18
just said is, you know, we had
4:20
one individual who
4:23
was talking about how lightheaded he was
4:25
and all these like, I'm so fatigued
4:27
and he was an elderly gentleman and you
4:29
know, you start to wonder like what's going on, his vital
4:31
signs were looking good. But after
4:33
watching him for a series of days, we
4:35
were noticing that there was
4:37
no toilet activities. Yeah,
4:40
so went in and kind of monitored
4:42
him for a little bit and he wasn't drinking.
4:45
No one was there reminding him it's time to
4:47
have a glass of water, it's time to drink during
4:49
the day. And you know, dehydration
4:51
really plays heavily on our seniors.
4:53
Yes, it does with confusion and all
4:56
of that. And you know, it was an easy thing to remedy
4:58
that we were able to see within a matter of
5:00
days. No doctor
5:02
trip, nothing. And it was a quick fix
5:04
that just from looking at the data, it was able
5:07
to be resolved.
5:08
So Lindsay, um here's, here's
5:10
another question that I'm not, I don't really totally
5:13
understand. Does ter bloom work only
5:15
with in the home or does it work outside
5:17
the home? What is the, um, the,
5:20
uh, boundary, I guess, of the
5:22
product it, it works with inside
5:24
the home. Most of our seniors
5:27
are pretty much the focus
5:29
group. They're very much at home. If, if they're
5:31
leaving most times it's to a doctor's
5:33
appointment or with a family member.
5:36
Um, we do alert
5:38
as soon as the patient has left the house,
5:41
but once outside the home
5:43
then we don't.
5:45
Yeah. Yeah. So it's, it's a wonderful
5:48
home monitoring system
5:50
that obviously, um, would
5:52
it, we just outside the
5:54
boundary, like, say on a patio or something
5:57
like that would, would the signal go
5:59
that far? Yes. Ok.
6:02
So if they walked out on a patio
6:04
or a walkway or something like that, they
6:06
most likely would be monitored if they picked
6:08
out their mail. If it was closed, something
6:10
like that, it would be, it would still
6:12
work. Yes. That's
6:15
amazing. That's amazing. So, tell
6:17
me a little bit about,
6:19
um, your promotion and really
6:21
what, um, what are people gonna get? Yeah.
6:24
So when, when we're looking to, um, we're
6:27
giving away two care bloom, um, for
6:29
a year. So we're doing that in June and September.
6:31
Uh, when they receive the care bloom, they'll have
6:33
enough to monitor one individual
6:35
in the home and five rooms.
6:38
Um, so it comes with all of the hardware, um
6:40
and then service packages for a year.
6:42
So you'll be able to, you know, go on to your app
6:44
or you can go on to the website, um and
6:47
see all of that data. So all of that notification.
6:49
And so Shannon, uh and Lindsay, what
6:51
is when you say a room, what is involved
6:54
in setting up a room? Yeah.
6:56
So we've, we've really tried to make, I know
6:58
that, you know, hardware can be, you know, challenging
7:01
and, and, you know, I even
7:03
think about how I'm integrating hardware
7:05
into my home and all of the sensors
7:07
that we have. Um So we really wanted to
7:09
make it really user friendly. So
7:11
setting up a room includes a
7:14
anchor that goes into a wall outlet.
7:16
And the only kind of rules are that
7:18
the anchor shouldn't be blocked by furniture.
7:20
Um And that um it
7:23
should be um accessible and plugged
7:25
in at all times. Um And
7:27
then we have room sensors
7:29
that monitor if someone
7:31
has moved into a room. Uh So it's
7:33
a motion sensor. Um And those two
7:35
things work together to really provide
7:38
100% accuracy of,
7:40
of where a person is moving and it's very,
7:42
very delicate. So a kitchen
7:44
in an apartment can be very close to the living
7:47
room or an open floor, um you
7:49
know, kind of design in a home. And so
7:51
it really is sensitive. So four steps,
7:53
either way, we can actually tell you where your,
7:55
your, your loved one is. So, if there's something
7:57
wrong, you're able to locate them very quickly.
8:00
And obviously, like you said,
8:03
if they haven't got up out of their chair for a long
8:05
time, you're gonna notice that if,
8:07
if you know you, uh, five rooms would
8:09
easily be enough for the bathroom, the bedroom,
8:11
the kitchen and the living room and you've got one
8:13
extra. Absolutely fabulous.
8:16
And everyone, we're going to be right back
8:19
and we're looking forward to,
8:21
um, talking a little bit more about costs
8:24
and what happens with care bloom right
8:26
after this. We
