Alan Mertens is currently a Senior Mechanical Designer at Sandia National Labs. He's a talented designer, engineer, and thinker.
He taught me CAD fundamentals while I was in high school, pursuing mechanical engineering. Though I did not end up in engineering, I use CAD as a designer nearly every day. Alan's mentorship has been invaluable and it was an honor to get him on the podcast.

Designed and manufactured a prototype Galmer G91 chassis (plus five production models), which went on to win the 1992 Indy 500
