Mona Heydari’s only crime was being born as a girl, as a woman. By 12 year old, she was forced to marry her cousin and two years later she became a mother to a baby boy. Five years into the marriage, Mona reached a breaking point and needed to get away from the constant abuse she was receiving from her husband.
Whilst this move initially provided her with some peace and relief, she would end up paying for it in the most horrific way.
