Jerome Avery tells us his journey from Olympic Trials competitor in the 100m & 200m Dash to becoming a Guide Runner and eventually guiding David Brown to Paralympic Records.
Avery has been a guide runner for Team USA at the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Paralympic Games. Avery is tethered to blind sprinters by a shoelace and communicates to his race partner from the gun to the finish line. David Brown and Avery set the 100m Paralympic Record on their way to Gold with a time of 10.99s. David Brown is the only fully blind man in history to break 11 seconds in the 100m dash.
