Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we head to Tomorrowland at Disneyland to take a round trip ride on The Monorail!

The Disneyland website describes this attraction saying: Ride the historic, high-speed zero-emission transportation system that rockets along a single rail through the Disneyland Resort.  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction.

Before we ride, here are five fast facts about Disneyland’s Monorail.

1. The Disneyland Monorail opened on June 14, 1959.  When it opened it was called the Disneyland Alweg Monorail System.  Alweg being the German company that helped Walt Disney and Bob Gurr build the attraction.

2. The Disneyland Monorail fleet is currently made up of the Red, Blue and Orange Mark VII trains.  The recording for this episode was made on Monorail Blue.  

3.  The Monorail system uses a 600-volt DC power source and as such, it emits no direct exhaust or pollutants into the atmosphere.

4. Each Monorail train can accommodate approximately 120 guests.

5. There is approximately 2.5 miles or 4 kilometers of Monorail track at Disneyland.
