On this weeks episode Kelly welcomes Mandi to the podcast.

Mandi talks about what it is like to be 15 years on from the loss of her son Kaian. Kaian sadly died 2 weeks after birth due to Edwards' syndrome (also know as trisomy 18).

Mandi shares her experience of loss, birth trauma, near loss of her own life, the birth of her rainbow baby Tia and the feeling of isolation (which she still feels today).

Mandi touches upon her Indian culture, the lack of emotional and physical support from friends and family, as well as, the importance of social awareness around baby loss. 

Kelly and Mandi talk about Mandi's new and positive level of acceptance and how her experience shaped her to be the strong and open minded person she is today.

Edwards' syndrome (also known as trisomy 18) is a genetic condition that begins to affect babies when they're in the womb, and continues to impact their health throughout their life. It's a rare but serious condition. In the UK, around 3 in every 10,000 births are affected by Edwards' syndrome.

Sadly, most babies with Edwards' syndrome will die before or shortly after being born. A small number (about 13 in 100) babies born alive with Edwards' syndrome will live past their 1st birthday.
