Chaotic! Good! Hilarious! Fun! These adjectives and more apply twice-over to this podcast. I've only recently started listening, and to their latest campaign. I cannot count the number of times they've made me snort-laugh at their antics. You have to give them a try! You won't regret it!

I cannot speak to the previous story arcs, but I'm very much enjoying the latest adventure with this group! Great audio quality & sound design to go along with a fun, dynamic group of adventurers in a fun sci-fi setting. Definitely recommend it. (Also: love the cover art!)

This podcast is absolutely sensational. A problem I sometimes have with D&D actual play podcasts is that the performers don't even sound like they are having fun. With the Bastards, you know you're listening to people that really enjoy each others company and the game they are playing together. They also all happen to be Bards with 20 CHA - their art is incredible and I'm blown away by their work. They do not shout loudly about themselves enough but that is the only fault. Only rating 5 stars because I can't rate 5.5/5.5. Absolutely interstellar entertainment.

I'm still trying to get caught up but this podcast is amazing. They suck you in with the super interesting characters and then keep you with all the shenanigans. If you are looking for a side splitting comedy space adventure then look no further these folks are what you need. I definitely recommend giving this show a shot and if you love it like I know you will then join their Discord sever where the party never stops. Strawberry Rhubarb Pie.

Ricky the DM brings an exciting tale that is often thwarted by his lovable party that he does his best to ensure they don't self destruct. With a wide variety of NPCs, locations, and fantastic descriptions, he paints the word picture into your mind with ease and has you hooked on the story as though you were playing yourself. If that wasn't enough to get you checking this out then you need the party to give you a nudge. You got your man Blaznak, the man raised by pigs and swinging hammers left right and center at anything coming his way while still retaining that lovable charm only a simple soul could have. The Baron, grand and majestic, never has an empty cup and could drink a drunken monk under the table while charming their companions to join their merry crew. Always a laugh and the "brave" leader for our merry bunch, as long as he has had a few shots of liquid courage. Their accountant and clerical assistant Cedric gives the crew the devil on their shoulder the most certainly do not need, but he is always sure to line the pockets of his friends and most importantly himself. Lastly Haex Masath, the oatmeal orc pirate who fears nothing and craves everything. If she were on your boat i would highly suggest investing in some arcane locks. So if you're looking for a finely crafted story and a talented DM who is very skilled at changing his plans and machinations on a whim due to his very chaotic members then this is for you. If you're just looking for some belly laughs and dice rolls, guess what? Also for you. That's a double win for you folks who want both. So don't hold back, get to listening to this amazing story and get ready to be hooked!

This show is excellent! Production quality is top notch, and the Backwater Bastards' cast is amazing. If you are looking for adventure and comedy in an actual play podcast, but are looking for a change of scenery from the typical high-fantasy setting, then look no further, the Bastards have you covered! An absolutely top notch show all around.

The Backwater Bastards are a glorious TTRPG actual play podcast fueled by action, combat and absolute chaos. The crew has a blast playing and the audience gets to witness anarchic and at times delightfully random adventures by a party audibly enjoying themselves.

Right from the get go there is fantastic sound design, wonderful role play, and an immersive world. This is one of the few times I've seen player characters that don't necessarily like each other in the beginning still work well both in fiction and for the listener. Their jests and japes and frequent abandonment of each other to their own whims never strays far from the greater story and actually adds quite a bit of depth to each episode. Backwater Bastards is a refreshing take on sci-fi actual play that perfectly rides the line of silly and serious when telling their story and acting their parts. Can't wait to continue being an avid listener!
