From the Today show to late night infomercials, to actual scientific research, I hear about these things a lot. Like a lot a lot. At least once every other week, I get a question concerning some type of new cleansing diet program or some form of procedure that detoxifies the body. But, to be honest, I have always just shooed them away or told them how bad these things were. I give one of my many sermons: they are a scam, they just want your money, you’re just losing water weight, etc... But people keep asking and companies keep making products. Obviously someone keeps buying these things. Does that mean that they really work? Why are real doctors talking about this stuff—and why are they always located conviently close to a new book they just wrote? And what exactly is a toxin anyway? And how in the hell does Maple Syrup, Cayenne Pepper, & Lemon Juice eliminate “toxins” from the body?
