This was not a podcast I intended to listen to for my job. I work as a risk analyst for a bank, and I was mostly interested in this show to learn some more about a tragic disaster. But this podcast is an astonishingly accessible and enjoyable way of absorbing some surprisingly advanced concepts in Risk. The story focuses on the Piper Alpha disaster, on the lead up and how, bit by bit, procedures built to prevent disaster were slowly dismantled as people's perceptions of risk shift to allow more and more risk. It's an incredible story, with a really important point to make, and it's definitely worth a few hours of your time.
