Hello, everybody.
0:02
Hello everybody and
0:02
welcome to the show the biggest
0:04
show the most important and
0:04
critically acclaimed podcast is
0:07
recorded. Big breath, they're in
0:07
our car, and today we are in the
0:12
Hemi studio. That's right, we
0:12
are in the 397. Hemi studio, and
0:19
we are going down the road.
0:19
Beautiful day and we're here to
0:24
talk about security. We're gonna
0:24
talk about security, actually,
0:29
we're gonna tie it to kinds of
0:29
security. We're gonna talk about
0:33
just observations from sort of
0:33
security we've done and then
0:36
we're going to talk a little bit
0:36
about security that we can you a
0:40
person can do that is both
0:40
stealthy, and will be effective,
0:46
at least to an extent if the
0:46
power is on or off. And we're
0:50
not talking about combat type
0:50
security, we're talking about
0:53
home type security,
0:56
keeping somebody from
0:56
Boston in your door and taking
0:58
your stuff.
1:00
Now, first, we're going
1:00
to talk about some things that
1:04
we've done in our, in our, or at
1:04
least one thing that we've done
1:07
at our home that has made a huge
1:07
difference in the amount of, of
1:12
security basically, that, you
1:12
know, we have in, in our little,
1:18
our little piece of land in
1:18
town, we live in a town of about
1:21
1200 people, and it's not a very
1:21
dangerous place to live. There
1:26
are no riots going on in our
1:26
community. And it's not the kind
1:33
of place that I can never
1:33
imagine there being riots going
1:37
on short of full scale teotwawki
1:37
because, frankly, the little old
1:44
ladies in town just really don't
1:44
scare me that much. And half the
1:49
town is the ladies a good
1:49
portion of the roster, Amish and
1:54
Mennonites and they're really not
1:55
not very violent,
1:57
violent, no.
1:58
But to the rest of us
1:58
aren't all that violent or prone
2:02
to taking other people's stuff either
2:04
in the few that are
2:04
everybody knows. So, you know,
2:10
we know who to look out for.
2:10
Now, let me give you the caveat
2:14
here of we do not live where we
2:14
live by accident, okay. We don't
2:21
live at what other people would
2:21
consider a bug out location. By
2:28
accident, we live there on
2:28
purpose. We've lived there on
2:31
purpose for many, many years. We
2:31
live there because we like not
2:35
having to worry about city and
2:35
suburb things.
2:39
As well as liking to be
2:39
out among gardeners creature the
2:44
Wild Things Are,
2:44
yeah, absolutely. Where
2:44
the Wild Things Are. And so
2:51
anyway, one of the things we've
2:51
done though, is we've had a we
2:55
years ago, we live in a town or
2:55
a little town, one of our quirks
2:58
for our town is we have a I
2:58
don't call it assisted living
3:01
because it's not assisted eliminated residential
3:03
cares, residential care
3:04
facility for people who
3:04
have
3:09
developmental disorders
3:11
and mental problems, but
3:11
they're non dangerous. And
3:18
they're non criminal. They're
3:18
just people that need a place to
3:22
stay. But it's a residential,
3:22
residential facility. It's not a
3:27
lockdown facility because
3:27
they're not criminals. And they
3:31
just are there because you know,
3:31
that we have some things yeah,
3:35
they get fed, they have good
3:35
hygiene, well, enforced hygiene
3:41
kind of stuff. And you know,
3:41
that's, that's, I think, but
3:46
they can get out if they want
3:46
to, there's no it's not there's
3:49
not a lock on the door.
3:51
And they frequently are, frequently are
3:53
out at night. And we I
3:53
noticed a bunch of footprints in
3:58
my yard one night in the snow.
3:58
And I was like what in the world
4:01
is going on? So I started trying
4:01
to figure it out what was going
4:04
on and what was going on. And
4:04
some of these people were out at
4:06
midnight or 1am wandering around
4:06
the neighborhood just looking
4:10
around at stuff. They weren't
4:10
stealing anything. Nothing was
4:13
missing. Nothing was broken
4:13
into. They were just out
4:16
wandering around
4:17
poking around, poking
4:17
around. Yeah.
4:21
And you know that that
4:21
does not fascinate me at all.
4:24
I'm, that's not my dance. I'm
4:24
not into that. So I went out and
4:27
bought an inexpensive Do It
4:27
Yourself 12 camera home security
4:32
system and I put up the cameras
4:32
one day, one weekend. And it was
4:39
interesting what happened to the
4:39
snow, the footprints in the snow
4:42
immediately stopped. Okay. And
4:42
then within the next couple of
4:48
weeks, we started hearing
4:48
comments when we were at the
4:50
grocery store in the gas
4:50
station. Some from people who I
4:54
really didn't even know and who
4:54
I was pretty sure and had no
4:58
idea where I live. I mean, it's
4:58
a small town, but it's not that
5:02
smaller. Everybody knows. Well,
5:02
there's two subsets of people,
5:10
one subset of people, they No,
5:10
no, everybody know everything
5:14
and everybody,
5:15
they would say we live in
5:15
the Helen Gibbons house. That's
5:17
right, which is right
5:17
across the street from the
5:19
Hudson house. Okay, and Helen
5:19
and Gibbon have both been dead
5:23
for 30 years, but has been dead
5:23
for almost 40. But we live in
5:27
her house. And you know, was a
5:27
little old lady. Where do you
5:32
live? We live in the Helen
5:32
Gibbons house. Oh, yeah. Okay.
5:37
Well, hello there for 60 years.
5:37
And, you know, anyway, pushing
5:45
right along. The security system
5:45
went up cameras, and we got the
5:52
little red eyes on and we
5:52
started getting people
5:55
commenting. Say, Hey, we haven't
5:55
put the security system up for I
5:59
noticed you have those security
5:59
cameras now. And people just
6:03
driving around. They noticed
6:03
that we had a security system.
6:08
These weren't people who
6:08
drive around town casing
6:10
people's houses so they can
6:10
break in. No, no, I don't recall
6:14
a break in in town for years.
6:14
I'm sure there have been.
6:17
Well, there was that. You
6:17
talk about?
6:22
Oh, yes. The guy who did
6:22
it on a snowy day in the tracks
6:27
lead right back to his own back
6:27
door?
6:29
Yeah. He broke into the
6:29
neighbor's house and stole their
6:32
coin collection so he could use
6:32
it to go out and buy some drugs.
6:37
I mean, there's there's these
6:37
types of jewelry. But it was a
6:39
snowy day. And the guy just
6:39
walked out his back door, walked
6:43
across the yard, broke into the
6:43
neighbor's backyard and walked
6:45
back to his own backyard or
6:45
door. And there were tracks are
6:50
sure have figured that one out
6:50
right away, too. Yeah, that was
6:54
not a city police. That was not
6:54
a really desperate, hard case to
7:01
crack.
7:03
Yeah.
7:05
Those are those kind of
7:05
idiots. And every time no matter
7:07
what you're doing,
7:09
yes, crime, crime can
7:09
happen anywhere, which is why we
7:12
got this thing. But I started
7:12
hearing it from people. Salty
7:18
knows a lot more people around
7:18
town. He works in town, I work
7:20
in a different town. I don't
7:20
know nearly as many people. But
7:26
I heard it from more than half a
7:26
dozen people in a single week.
7:29
Many of whom I really, I knew
7:29
there are townspeople, but I
7:33
really didn't know who they are.
7:33
So these were people who are
7:36
driving around casing the joint
7:36
they just noticed. And if
7:41
they're noticing that a whole
7:41
lot of people are noticing,
7:43
yeah, people actually
7:43
people, the Relay for Life, I
7:46
was on the committee. Hey, tell
7:46
us all about that security thing
7:50
you put in there like? No, I
7:50
thought we were gonna put your
7:56
plan the survivors parade not
7:56
talk about my home security
8:00
system. Anyway, long story short
8:00
home security system. I've just,
8:06
this is something people will
8:06
notice. Now a caveat, we live in
8:11
a town where there are no
8:11
professional home security
8:14
companies. We live in a county
8:14
where there are none. You can
8:18
get the national ones. And you
8:18
can get the ones that you know,
8:22
that are internet based. Sure.
8:22
But there are no we will come
8:27
and install these internet or
8:27
the security system in our
8:31
county. And again, we live in a
8:31
county that is doesn't have a
8:37
stoplight that changes color.
8:39
We have more deer than people.
8:40
We do we have a lot more
8:40
here than people.
8:42
Yeah. The point is,
8:42
though, that I actually was
8:48
like, yeah, whatever, if you
8:48
want to get one, I had no
8:51
confidence that it would make
8:51
any difference in our lives at
8:54
all. But I was amazed at how
8:54
many people had noticed. And if
9:00
people are noticing, that means
9:00
it's going to be a deterrent.
9:04
Because these days, you know, if
9:04
that little red lights on the
9:07
camera, the probability is high
9:07
that there are images going up
9:10
somewhere on the cloud. And
9:10
people are going to be noticed
9:15
if they're messing with stuff,
9:16
that's exactly how it works, you know? Yeah, like I come in, go into my house and
9:18
steal the steel. The thing is,
9:22
yeah, but it's it's uploading it
9:22
onto the cloud storage. So
9:25
that's not gonna help.
9:27
Yeah. So we just got a
9:27
picture of you and we can come
9:29
track it down.
9:31
Okay, so this is just an
9:31
observation of people do notice
9:36
this stuff. So what are some
9:36
things you could do? That would
9:43
help you with your home
9:43
security, that don't require
9:49
power, and the people will not
9:49
notice because you don't
9:52
necessarily want people noticing
9:52
your home security stuff. This
9:55
is not necessarily the goal is
9:55
Oh, yeah, they've got security.
9:59
It must have Something steel.
9:59
You know, that's not necessarily
10:03
the goal. You don't
10:04
want to look like a soft
10:04
target either, though, no.
10:08
Certainly, backyard fence
10:08
would provide a small, very
10:14
negligible amount of security,
10:14
it would keep people from
10:17
wandering in. But, you know,
10:17
backyard fences, I don't care
10:22
what kind they are. They're easy
10:22
to get over.
10:25
Frankly, I think the most
10:25
important value of a backyard
10:28
fence is it's just you may have
10:28
a dog. Right. And dogs are much
10:32
bigger determined than a little
10:32
backyard fences.
10:37
And speaking of dogs be
10:37
clear I see this this out there
10:41
all the time. People saying
10:41
guard dog watchdog using them
10:43
like they're in an interchangeable term. They're not. guard dogs are the big you
10:45
know, German Shepherd,
10:48
Rottweiler. big, powerful. legal
10:48
right there. Yeah. Driving
10:54
within a few feet of him. He was
10:54
just right there. I'd say within
11:01
30 feet of him. beautiful bird.
11:01
We were shooting pictures of
11:06
Eagles all morning, all
11:06
afternoon long
11:08
that our first Eagle of the day, but
11:10
this is not our first.
11:10
This is our closest equals. Now
11:13
mine. Oh, and it got both.
11:17
Yeah, got both.
11:19
You know, it's one of
11:19
those deals where a little bitty
11:24
Chihuahua can be a great
11:24
watchdog totally useless as a
11:30
guard dog. But a fantastic
11:30
watchdog. yappy little ankle
11:37
biters can be great watchdogs as
11:37
long as they make a lot of
11:40
noise.
11:40
Yeah, and we say watchdog
11:40
we don't mean the golden
11:43
retriever, who's gonna watch him
11:43
come in and wag his tail. Or
11:46
somebody who's gonna at least
11:46
make noise. Did you know
11:49
Cardinals are good, there were
11:49
like six or
11:51
seven male Cardinals all
11:51
hanging out. She must be a
11:54
hottie. She must be the bomb.
11:54
There's a whole we're driving.
12:00
And there's a whole flock of
12:00
male Cardinals, which I
12:04
don't generally associate
12:06
recall seeing before,
12:06
that's kind of cool. Anyway, I
12:10
guess the Cardinals are gonna
12:10
have a good year, not that the
12:14
football Cardinals because my
12:14
beers just bounce them out of
12:17
the playoffs. But that's what
12:17
I'm pressing right along.
12:23
The Happy dogs will
12:23
dissuade people, often who want
12:28
to break in and take stuff. I
12:28
have read from writings
12:34
purportedly by people who do
12:34
break into houses for a living.
12:38
But they don't want to mess with
12:38
dogs. They don't care if it's a
12:40
little handful of dogs they
12:40
could kick into next week. They
12:43
don't want to mess with dogs.
12:43
They don't want the noise. They
12:47
don't want the hassle.
12:47
Certainly, if it's a bigger dog,
12:49
they don't want the bitten. So
12:49
even a small dog can be a fairly
12:55
big term. Besides saying you
12:55
have a dog may well be with.
13:00
And then the first
13:00
version of this podcast. This is
13:02
actually the second version of this podcast. Not that it matters. The battery died on us.
13:04
We're making any big change to
13:09
it. The battery died on us while
13:09
we're recording it. She talked
13:12
about peacocks. Oops.
13:15
peacocks are something
13:15
that a lot of people out here in
13:19
the country. Oh, not a lot, but
13:19
a few. Some will. They'll buy a
13:22
couple of peacocks and put them
13:22
out there with their domestic
13:26
fowl. Because if somebody and by
13:26
somebody I generally mean a
13:31
coyote or a hawk or something
13:31
else that's going to eat fowl.
13:36
Anything starts to mess around
13:36
that the peafowl consider a
13:40
threat. No, it's not like
13:40
they're gonna go out and kick
13:44
its tail, but they're gonna
13:44
start screaming. They're going
13:48
to literally cry for help
13:48
because if you've ever heard a
13:51
peacock's distress call, it
13:51
sounds a lot like it's calling
13:56
for help. And people will put a
13:56
peacock or two out there with
13:59
their fowl. Anytime the peacock
13:59
start going off at night, they
14:03
know to let the dog out and turn
14:03
on the lights and see what's up.
14:07
So they don't lose too many
14:07
chickens to the foxes or
14:09
whatever because the beef fowl
14:09
are a lot better at alarming
14:14
than the other domestic
14:14
follower. And they're pretty. So
14:18
bonus.
14:20
A slight diversion.
14:20
You're driving around the
14:22
country and you're driving by
14:22
and you see a bunch of sheep or
14:25
goats and you see one llama out
14:25
there. There's a reason the
14:31
llama is out there not just
14:31
because people like llamas,
14:34
it will kick things tail.
14:36
It is a guard llama and
14:36
we're not kidding. It's not a
14:39
watch llama. It's a guard while
14:39
suckers
14:42
will take out Coyote. Oh,
14:42
they
14:44
hate coyotes. They will
14:44
take the biggest threat to
14:47
protect. Llamas are some of the
14:47
sweetest animals in the world up
14:52
until that time when they're
14:52
not. And they're very, very very
14:57
dexterous and they Got a kick,
14:57
literally like a mule.
15:03
I have seen videos of one
15:03
that grabbed a coyote and just
15:08
shook it said until the coyotes
15:08
back was broken and then tossed
15:11
it into the bushes. We'll look
15:11
to the next one. So people know
15:14
that and don't mess with those
15:14
either.
15:18
Okay, now we are not
15:18
recommending that you go out and
15:21
get a watch guard Llama
15:23
Llama? Yes.
15:25
We're not recommending
15:25
that you suburbanites out there
15:30
were people of any type.
15:32
The idea is that an
15:32
animal that alarms can be about
15:39
as useful as an animal that
15:39
actively defends your stuff. It
15:45
serves as a very large
15:45
deterrent. And it scares off a
15:49
lot of trouble you might
15:49
otherwise have and it alarms you
15:54
that you need to go and watch
15:54
for things. So you don't
15:57
necessarily have to think big
15:57
bitey things that you may or may
16:01
not want in your apartment or
16:01
something like that.
16:06
Now one big advantage the
16:06
yappy little ankle biters have
16:09
as a dog over guard dog is they
16:09
eat a lot less a 50 gallon. 50
16:14
Gallon 50 pound bag of dog food
16:14
goes a lot farther with the
16:18
shihtzu then it will with a
16:18
golden which are useless except
16:25
to pet their heads. I'm not sure
16:25
anyone that what's your tennis
16:34
ball hunting? golden retriever
16:34
like exactly what you want.
16:39
Okay. All right. Anyway.
16:42
I even know some people
16:42
who put up beware of the dog
16:44
signs when they don't have a
16:44
dog. Because they are of the
16:47
belief which I think is not
16:47
entirely unjustified that it
16:50
will discourage some people from
16:50
trying to come in and mess with
16:53
their stuff when they're not there.
16:54
Or even when that dog is
16:54
a golden retriever. You know it
16:58
does does serve a purpose though
16:58
you might trip over one of them
17:01
in the dark, just laying there
17:01
sleeping. But anyway, I like
17:06
goldfish. I'm not down on Golden
17:06
Retrievers I just not really
17:09
what you would call a practical
17:09
service.
17:13
They're just not.
17:15
If you got a tennis ball
17:15
here, you're in business, you're
17:19
their friend. Anyway, long story
17:19
short, pressing right along
17:24
doors, doors, doors, one of the
17:24
things you can do. Or if you're
17:31
wanting to do something to
17:31
harden your house a little bit,
17:33
the best thing you can do, the
17:33
single best thing you can do is
17:36
to replace your doors, your
17:36
entry doors with, it's not just
17:41
about the door, a solid core
17:41
door, it's about the frame, a
17:46
really difficult or metal frame.
17:46
To hold that to really anchor
17:51
that door in will make that door
17:51
a lot more
17:56
robust, and the hardware
17:56
that holds the door shut, so you
17:59
can't just kick through it.
18:00
Right. And we've got one
18:00
of those things on the cabin. We
18:04
bought one and just kind of as
18:04
experiment It was a heavy chain
18:08
and has a loop that goes around
18:08
the door handle. But this isn't
18:12
one of those little hotel room
18:12
chain things. This is a real
18:16
actual heavy duty chain that
18:16
bolts into a plate that runs up
18:21
and down the side of the side of
18:21
the doorframe and it has to be
18:26
big, deep set hard bolts that
18:26
run deep into the doorframe and
18:33
a full full sized person can
18:33
kick it, kick it and kick it and
18:38
it will not let go it's really a
18:38
thing.
18:40
They would probably kick
18:40
the hinges off the backside of
18:43
that door, which would be quite
18:43
the trick before that cheap
18:47
little door handle would give
18:47
way
18:49
wasn't that cheap.
18:51
The handle itself is
18:51
cheap. The cheapest kind of
18:55
outside door handle. It's just a
18:55
little
18:57
right. Okay, that is all
18:57
in cabin. But the anti kick open
19:02
mechanism was not cheap.
19:04
No, but it is quite
19:04
robust. And the angle you would
19:08
you would be pulling on it if
19:08
somebody was kicking on the door
19:11
would make it extremely hard to
19:11
break that door handle and break
19:13
in that way.
19:14
Right now. It's kind of
19:14
there's only to a point because
19:20
that has a big glass window to
19:20
the door does so I mean, we're
19:23
not trying to we're not trying
19:23
to stop a gorilla from getting
19:31
through the door.
19:32
No, but if I often sleep
19:32
at the cabin by myself and it's
19:35
a rather isolated spot and
19:35
there's no lights or anything
19:38
else. And should somebody try
19:38
and come in that door when I'm
19:43
in there at night. I want to
19:43
know what's happening and have
19:47
time to react.
19:48
In other words, say hello
19:48
to get through the door. They
19:52
step in and it's like that Gunny
19:52
commercial. You pick the wrong
19:57
house because She's gonna be
19:57
there saying hello with Mr.
20:02
Glock in her hand.
20:03
Yeah, I, I don't actually
20:03
think anybody's going to mess
20:06
with me there. But it's a very
20:06
flimsy door and it's very
20:09
isolated. So we put something on
20:09
it to give me a little warning,
20:14
give me time to wake up and
20:14
figure out what's going on. If
20:16
somebody does decide they want
20:16
to come in while I'm in there.
20:20
Now one thing you can do,
20:20
if you don't want to really go
20:22
too crazy under door is you can
20:22
buy brackets and nice big strong
20:27
bolts and get some two by fours
20:27
or two by sixes. In make, have
20:43
the makings on hand, so that you
20:43
can put brackets on all of your
20:47
doors and then put two before
20:47
bracing. on them, you don't have
20:53
to leave them on that 20 473 65.
20:53
But if you have the stuff on
20:57
hand to do it, if the situation
20:57
deteriorates on you, you can
21:03
always you just go back into
21:03
pull the stuff out of the out of
21:07
the storage area and bolt up
21:07
your doors. Same thing will work
21:11
for Windows,
21:12
as long as you put the
21:12
attachments out of reach. So you
21:17
can't just break the glass and
21:17
reach in and remove it.
21:21
Right Well yeah, but you
21:21
can you can easily put down
21:24
system that you couldn't just
21:24
reach into the grass
21:27
and it doesn't have to
21:27
make your house look ugly or
21:30
look like Fort Knox or keep you
21:30
from opening the windows or do
21:33
anything else.
21:33
And it doesn't even have to affect your daily life because you don't even have to
21:35
install that up until you need
21:38
it. But just have the trick is
21:38
to have it on hand and know how
21:42
to put it in if you need it.
21:42
Another great thing that that we
21:49
really like and have actually
21:49
done some of at our booth at the
21:54
place of the yard. We've we've
21:54
got some some entanglement type
21:59
of bushes,
22:01
berry bushes,
22:02
berry bushes, yeah. berry
22:02
bushes, they have a foreign talk
22:07
on them. You don't have to have
22:07
thorns on them. But ours have
22:10
thorns on them. As they grow
22:10
berries is food, food food in
22:13
the summer, you're always
22:13
growing, you're growing food,
22:15
you're printing stuff that you
22:15
can dry and have in the winter,
22:18
get your vitamin C's in the
22:18
winter if you need to. And it
22:22
gives you the ability to have
22:22
your car pooped on by with
22:26
purple poop for birds.
22:28
Actually, that doesn't
22:28
happen that much. No, because if
22:31
they start stealing too many of
22:31
my berries, I throw fruit
22:33
netting over him for one thing.
22:33
But I put them in frankly, on
22:37
the fence that divides us from
22:37
our neighbors, just because it
22:40
was a fence that was up and it
22:40
would support the berries. And
22:42
it would make it easy for me to
22:42
go pick the berries and I didn't
22:45
have to build furniture for
22:45
them. But man, I wouldn't eat it
22:50
completely lousy little excuse
22:50
for a fence. But it would be
22:54
such a total pain in the rear
22:54
end to try and get through even
22:57
the ones that don't have thorns.
22:57
Unless you've ever tried to get
23:01
through something like that on
23:01
foot, especially in the dark at
23:04
night. You probably don't
23:04
understand just how much of an
23:10
motivational it is to try and do
23:10
that if you don't have a really
23:13
strong reason to go there.
23:14
Now, one thing that you
23:14
could do with these these pages,
23:19
you can put these up. And you
23:19
can make them look realize
23:21
there's no reason they can't
23:21
look nice, keep them trimmed
23:23
and, but like roses, you can put
23:23
roses right up underneath your
23:28
rose bush and roll your
23:30
windows or Holly. It's a
23:30
beautiful plant. It attracts
23:33
birds, it makes nice shelter for
23:33
him in the winter.
23:36
And your neighborhoods.
23:36
If you have one of those
23:39
neighborhood associations, don't
23:39
just gonna complain because they
23:41
meet the standards of the
23:41
neighborhood association.
23:43
We just like your place
23:43
to look nice. It still looks
23:47
nice, and nobody's gonna want to
23:47
stand in it and get get through
23:50
there. Where I grew up my
23:50
neighbors notice somebody
23:54
hanging around outside, it was
23:54
out in the country, they ran a
23:58
dairy farm. But still, they
23:58
noticed somebody hanging out
24:01
outside in the yard one night
24:01
and made them feel less than
24:06
completely comfortable. So she
24:06
just went out, planted a bunch
24:09
of rose bushes under the windows
24:09
and wasn't anybody out hanging
24:12
out right under the windows
24:12
after that. Just no fun to do.
24:17
An average person who's going to
24:17
try and break into your house is
24:20
not looking for awards for
24:20
getting through the most
24:24
difficult barriers. They're
24:24
looking for easy targets often.
24:31
Yes. Another thing that
24:31
you can do is if you really can,
24:37
convinced that you want to have
24:37
some Home Security safely is you
24:43
can put in blackout curtains, or
24:43
at least stocked blackout
24:48
curtains. Because there are
24:48
times when you don't want to be
24:53
the only house in the
24:53
neighborhood with lights on.
24:57
There's another Eagle right up there.
24:58
Yep, I see him
25:01
right a little cemetery
25:01
that always forgets there.
25:06
There's a little bitty tiny
25:06
cemetery like eight graves must
25:08
have been a primary cemetery
25:08
family cemetery. And there's
25:11
another one right on the other side of the road that is a little more than that. mibbit a
25:13
church there one time. I know
25:16
people there was probably a
25:16
church that looks like might
25:19
have been a church scrapyard.
25:19
I've never seen a sign there.
25:23
Anywho I know you don't care,
25:23
but we're driving down the road.
25:25
And there's a there's, there's
25:25
things to see there's debtors
25:27
all over the place. Okay. That's
25:27
pretty much what I wanted to say
25:31
about the subject. So
25:32
lots of things you can do
25:32
without disturbing the look of
25:36
your house. Useful for day to
25:36
day useful if there's a larger
25:40
problem. Doesn't, you know, take
25:40
a crazy amount of investment.
25:49
pretty effective. Now, this
25:51
is the takeaway here
25:51
isn't dogs isn't rosebushes and
25:57
it isn't. Barring your doorway,
25:57
stay not peacocks. And certainly
26:02
not peacocks. Unless you do live
26:02
in the country. They're kind of
26:04
cool looking anyway, the
26:04
takeaway is, just think of
26:10
things now. Think of things now
26:10
that you can do, that are fairly
26:17
non invasive, that are something
26:17
nobody else would notice. And
26:22
you know, stuff like, you know,
26:22
preparing door blocks and stuff
26:26
like that. If you have a spouse
26:26
that is absolutely adamant that
26:31
you're not going to mess up the
26:31
house with your prepping stuff.
26:33
You don't have to you just take
26:33
the stuff, you get it, you put
26:37
it in the garage, or wherever
26:37
you store your stuff. And you
26:39
forget about it. Well, she needs to know
26:41
you don't forget about it, you remember where the heck you put it. That might be an
26:42
issue once you've got a lot of
26:46
prepping stuff.
26:48
Well,
26:50
maybe we admit,
26:54
this is not a denial,
26:55
but you don't have to
26:55
mess with it until you need it.
26:58
But then you got it. And you
26:58
don't have to be one of those
27:02
people go Oh, but they're sold
27:02
out of X, Y and Z. And I
27:05
desperately need x, y and z. So
27:05
you don't you got it right
27:09
there. And it was a couple of
27:09
brackets. It wasn't, you know,
27:12
your paycheck.
27:14
One of the things that
27:14
spice and I always harped on and
27:17
we have a podcast on it or two,
27:17
we have stories on three b y or
27:22
two is one of the one golf I
27:22
think most preppers should have
27:28
it that don't is the whole you
27:28
know, every time you hear people
27:33
on the prepping farmers and
27:33
stuff like that, what's the last
27:36
thing you have one last trip to
27:36
the store? What are you going to
27:39
pick up now, I'm not going not
27:39
going. My goal is to not ever
27:45
need to go to the store for that
27:45
one last trip. Because that one
27:52
last trip puts you out amongst
27:52
the chaos. And that's the last
27:56
place you want to be is in a
27:56
store with panicky people
28:01
and driving around on streets
28:02
drive around the streets
28:02
with panicky people know you
28:07
want to be home by bad or you
28:07
want to if you're bugging out,
28:09
you want to be out of dodge by
28:09
them. And for those of us who
28:13
actually have been to Dodge
28:13
City, we know that getting out
28:18
of dodge is easy. But then
28:18
you're in Kansas and it lasts
28:23
for ever. Darcy's way over
28:23
there. I mean, it's way over
28:32
there.
28:34
It is middle of
28:35
middle of nowhere. So
28:35
getting out of dodge isn't that
28:37
hard, but getting to where you
28:37
want to run dodge.
28:42
It's gonna take a while
28:42
to pay what you need. All right,
28:45
that's what we have
28:45
today. Thank you. Bye bye.
