God’s strength made perfect in our weakness. As I’m writing this post, I’m realizing that again, because I literally melted down selfishly over something related to food prep and making food, all because I am TOO focused on food control and such (ED GO AWAY!). Yet God is working on me, and I’m writing this realizing how silly it is of me to melt down over things like that; I am still very much a work of pottery in progress, a wretched sinner being mended, refined, stripped of so many idols.
These eating disorder recovery stories remind me of the beauty of that journey of God’s grace, of Jesus’ cleansing power. Naomi is one of those. She started her blog almost a year ago, and I can not believe that I found her blog and found some of the most encouraging posts I’ve encountered on eating disorder recovery, body positivity, and food freedom that I’ve ever read.
Here are some of my most favorite post from her:
I Don’t Remember What I Weigh
Lessons Learned From A Batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies
When Micromanaging Your Body Is No Longer a Tool
Naomi is kind and tender and truthful in every one of her blog posts. She understands the struggles of diet culture in college. She understands the struggles of transitioning to intuitive movement and intuitive eating, but I have been humbled and thankful to see how she has grown incredibly over the past year in these areas. You will smile so much and nod in agreement with Naomi’s story in many ways. I’m thankful to be able to share it with you.
In the Episode we talked About:
Naomi’s Story of Developing an Eating Disorder, Being Diagnosed With Anorexia, Going Through Treatment, and Coming Out the Other End
How to Talk With Others at School When There is Diet Culture
How People Can Encourage and Help Others Who Are Struggling With Eating Disorders and On the Road To Recovery
Learning How to Honor Your Body’s Need for Movement and Rest
Finding Positive/Not Negative Influences on Social Media/The Blog World That Promote Healthy Body Image and ED Recovery
Her Fear Foods and How She Overcame Them and Loves Them Now
These are just a few of the things we talked about, and I hope that you are full of hope and joy for recovery after you listen. If you loved it, I would really love for you to leave a review on ITunes so others can find the show!
No specific questions, but I would love to hear your thoughts and takeaways from Naomi’s story!
