Spiritual warfare. It’s real, and I believe that a lot of the battle faced in eating disorder recovery is not something that is seen. As a Christian, a Jesus follower, I know that Satan does not like my master Jesus. Satan doesn’t like him, because Jesus crushed Satan’s head on the cross and through the resurrection. And Satan is the greatest adversary we as human beings can face, and we can’t do it without Jesus. Satan is more powerful than me, but he’s not more powerful than Jesus.
1 Peter 5:8-10 says this so well, ‘Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.’
It’s Jesus who stablishes us in this battle, who equips us for the battle with the whole armor of God. And without that armor, we’re defenseless.
This came to my mind the other day when I was watching a TV show with my sisters. It’s a show about bad guys vs. good guys. (Shocker right?).
Well, the thing that stood out to me about the show was that the people who are fighting the bad guys who are trying to take innocent lives are always ready for battle.
That’s what ED recovery is about; it’s about being ready for battle. That’s why this podcast episode is so near and dear to my heart. The more I’ve realized how much of the battle is waged in the spiritual realm before I see victories in the natural realm. They are so tied together, and I have been in prayer more this year than ever as I’ve faced some of my old ED doubts, lies, and struggles as they rear their ugly heads.
Taylor encapsulated the spiritual battle so well in this podcast.

I wanted to say thank you to Georgie (whose podcast I follow occasionally!) for giving me the idea of using these bullet points to give you the main ideas of what was covered in the podcast!!!! Check out her latest episode with Dana about Winter Wellness. (I wouldn’t say I 100% agree with everything, but I love the simple tips about keeping healthy simple, and I love many of Dana’s thoughts about nutrition and balance and not obsessing over social media).
I wanted to share too that I KNOW that this was not easy for Taylor to share. Taylor shared that although she is a food blogger, it’s hard for her to conquer her fears and eat the food she makes, but she does. And she is slowly but SURELY conquering through the power of Christ Jesus those fears.
Taylor is a truly gifted woman of God, and I know you will be blessed by her transparency, her love for the Lord Jesus Christ, her honesty, and her willingness to bare her heart and share the hardest parts of her journey and how she has started to pursue even more healing just this year.
Thank you SOOO much to Taylor, and I hope many of you are encouraged, uplifted, strengthened for this spiritual battle in recovery.
