Welcome to Season three
0:13
of Finding Our Way.
0:16
I really wanna start by
0:16
just saying thank you.
0:20
I wanna say thank you to our
0:20
listeners over the last two seasons.
0:25
I wanna say thank you to
0:25
our Patreon subscribers,
0:29
the folks that sustain this podcast. And I wanna say thank you to this growing
0:31
community of people who are engaged in
0:36
reflection, engaged in
0:36
changing. From myself,
0:41
from Eddie, from devon, really
0:41
from the bottom of our hearts.
0:45
Thank you so much. Thank you for the
0:45
sweet messages, for the study groups,
0:50
for really engaging with
0:50
what we're exploring here.
0:54
So we're back, and before I kind
0:54
of talk about where we're going,
0:58
I wanna talk about where we've been.
0:58
We have been doing a lot of things.
1:03
I had a kid and by the time this airs,
1:06
I will be a parent to a six
1:06
month old child who is really
1:11
amazing and is a light
1:11
in my life right now.
1:14
And I'm really lucky that I gotta
1:14
spend the first few months just
1:19
looking in their face and watching them
1:19
grow. And I also, in the last year,
1:24
started an organization called
1:24
The Embodiment Institute.
1:27
And at The Embodiment Institute, we are focused on developing our
1:29
embodied emotional capacity to
1:34
have just relationships with one
1:34
another and with the world around us.
1:38
So I have been hard at
1:38
work over the last year,
1:42
building that organization and hiring
1:42
a really amazing team of people
1:47
that are bringing that work
1:47
to life really beautifully.
1:50
And one of those people is devon
1:50
de Leña, who works on this podcast.
1:54
So devon has been so central
1:54
to this podcast and how it
1:59
looks and how it feels to all of you. And she's brought the same magic to The
2:01
Embodiment Institute and the work there.
2:04
She just helped us launch a self-guided
2:04
course; say, if you're interested in,
2:08
you can check out on our website, theembodimentinstitute.org, or on our instagram page
2:12
@the.embodiment.institute.
2:17
One other fun fact about devon
2:17
is that she, in this last year,
2:21
has been driving across the country and
2:21
across the west coast in a van that she
2:25
converted. She's been surfing.
2:25
She's been having a good time.
2:28
So devon is out here, which
2:28
I think is really cool.
2:34
And as many of you know, my brother, Eddie is one of the
2:36
producers on this podcast,
2:39
and he has been working on another
2:39
podcast in our time off the podcast,
2:44
How We Breathe, which
2:44
is a podcast of BOLD,
2:46
Black Organizing for
2:46
Leadership and Dignity.
2:50
And that podcast is a collection
2:50
of intimate conversations with
2:55
black organizers past and
2:55
present across the country.
2:59
If you've ever wanted to really look into
2:59
Black organizing and what's happening
3:04
on the ground, this is an
3:04
amazing podcast to check out.
3:06
So the podcast is called How We
3:06
Breathe. And it's a podcast of BOLD.
3:11
Also this past year, Eddie was an associate producer
3:12
on the HBO Max documentary
3:17
Hallowed Ground,
3:17
which I was in. You should check it out.
3:22
But we're really proud of him for his
3:22
work that he put into this documentary
3:27
that had current day organizers in
3:27
conversation about their experience
3:32
witnessing and being inspired by
3:32
the original Black Freedom Movement
3:37
documentary, Eyes On the Prize. So
3:37
if you haven't checked that out,
3:40
it is still on HBO Max. You can go back and watch the
3:41
original Eyes On the Prize and
3:46
then catch up with Hallowed Ground.
3:46
It's a really amazing piece.
3:49
And we're so proud of
3:49
him for working on that.
3:52
Now we're back and we're
3:52
back here on Finding Our Way,
3:55
and we're really excited to get into
3:55
it with you this season. You know,
3:59
it's been an, a real honor, I think,
4:02
for all of us to cultivate this community,
4:05
to cultivate this collection of
4:05
guests, some of whom, you know,
4:10
but maybe are hearing something
4:10
different from, in our podcast.
4:14
And I hope there's a lot
4:14
of people you don't know,
4:16
or haven't yet met that you're learning from. So far in the last two seasons,
4:20
we've gone a lot of different places.
4:23
We've journeyed from the potential
4:23
inside of every seed that we grow,
4:28
to the depths of the ocean, to
4:28
abolitionist futures and beyond.
4:34
We really hope that Season Three,
4:34
and I believe that it will be,
4:37
is as compelling as Season One and
4:37
Season Two have been. This season,
4:41
like the previous ones, we
4:41
intend to bring stories, ideas,
4:46
from thinkers, feelers,
4:46
doers on the precipice.
4:51
Our hope always with this podcast is
4:51
that you viscerally engage with it.
4:55
That when you listen, you notice
4:55
the places where you disagree,
4:59
or you notice the places
4:59
where you get a little freer.
5:03
We're always trying to have these
5:03
conversations in a way, and at a pace,
5:07
where you can feel them, where you can get inspired to
5:09
share the wisdom that's in you.
5:14
So this season we are back on the edges. We're learning from the people who
5:16
are often disappeared in this world.
5:21
And we're learning, especially this season on the inner
5:22
workings and the intricacies of change.
5:27
As I'm recording this right now, we're already several
5:29
episodes into this season.
5:31
And I have been honestly feeling so much.
5:34
I had forgotten how much recording
5:34
these episodes changed me.
5:40
We'll start airing the
5:40
interviews. Until then,
5:42
I wanna encourage you to re-listen to
5:42
episodes that maybe you haven't listened
5:47
to in a while. I wanna encourage you to share this
5:48
podcast with someone in your life that you
5:51
care about, who doesn't know about it yet, who could benefit from it and might
5:53
use this week to catch up. Um,
5:56
so they can be ready for Season Three. And I also wanna encourage you
5:59
to become a Patreon subscriber.
6:03
We do not get any grant funding. We
6:03
receive no grants for this podcast.
6:09

6:11
on this podcast and to keep
6:15

6:17

6:20

6:20

6:29
for your support there.
6:32
