1:31
Hey Bobes. How you doing, man? What's up,
1:33
Cliff? I just got done with an amazing
1:36
interview with a fantastic witness
1:38
you missed it, man Barbara was awesome.
1:41
And for all you listeners, you're gonna be able to hear what
1:43
Barbara has to say in just a few minutes after This but
1:45
Bobo had some issues today. Yeah,
1:47
I got done with physical therapy because yesterday my
1:49
phone my
1:51
Recording setup wasn't working so good. I needed to
1:53
get new headphones and I
1:55
went to Target and got them and got
1:57
back on his you know, they got back and said like 10 minutes
2:00
before we were gonna start recording. So I was like, oh great, I made
2:02
it in time. Yeah, and kudos to you, Bobs,
2:04
because you called me an hour beforehand and said, Glo, if I'm
2:06
gonna go to Target and get new headphones, which I applaud
2:09
you for, because we've had problems with your headphones for a few
2:11
weeks now. And you got back
2:14
right when you told me you were going to. It was like 3.05
2:17
when I was on the call or whatever. I got back 15
2:19
minutes before that, I was trying to break in. Oh,
2:21
I was trying to break into what? My
2:24
house. I had a key
2:26
made, like, God, it was like probably a year and a half ago, and
2:29
it was for the house. And they
2:31
gave me that little janky little key ring, like that
2:33
little cheap, thin one. Yeah,
2:35
the one, you're just supposed to throw that away, aren't you?
2:38
Yeah, but I just clipped it on my key
2:40
ring, and I've had it for like a year and a half, and it
2:42
actually
2:43
came off about six or seven
2:45
weeks ago, and I put it on, I was like, I gotta
2:47
remember to go to the locksmith
2:50
or the hardware store and get a copy made, and get
2:53
a real key ring, you know?
2:56
And frickin' thing, I didn't hear it fall
2:58
off. It's the parking
3:01
lot, so right along the 101 freeway, and there's
3:03
cars and people, and so I
3:06
just didn't hear it fall, I guess. And I get home,
3:08
and then I was like, oh, man. And
3:10
then I, so I went, we have a hide-a-key, I went and got the
3:12
hide-a-key, it was the wrong key. So
3:15
you lost your house key, and then
3:17
your hide-a-key wasn't the right key?
3:20
Yeah, it was a quickset
3:22
lock, and it was a quickset, it looked just like
3:24
it, it looked just like it, but it didn't work. And
3:27
I knew it was, I was like, going, I don't know if this is the right
3:29
one, because it wasn't all like,
3:30
the other one we had, there was another for like a couple years,
3:33
so it's like fully like got salt damage
3:36
to it, you know, it's like it's been sitting on the beach
3:38
for a couple years, so I was like, this thing's
3:40
pretty smooth, I don't know, I
3:42
noticed that when I was, I thought, oh, it's a pretty split-out of new
3:44
key, and then it doesn't work at all,
3:46
I was just like, oh my God, so then I was
3:49
able to gimme up, like I
3:51
climbed up on my neighbor's trash cans, because the
3:54
bathroom window's probably about nine feet, the
3:56
bottom's about nine feet off the ground,
3:58
and I was like trying to, stack trash
4:00
cans and make it not wobbly to climb
4:03
up to get in the window. And I
4:05
got the window open. Like I had to like pound it
4:07
without breaking it to get the stick that we
4:09
put in there to keep it like locked because
4:11
there's no lock on it. It rusted
4:13
away. Of course. I got that stick
4:15
to fall. Then I got the window all the way up. And then,
4:18
but I was only up to about my neck to
4:20
the window and I was trying to
4:22
hop up. I couldn't pull myself up and get
4:24
in the window because it was such a tight squeeze because
4:26
it's a small window. Then I got stuck there
4:29
for like two minutes. I was like killing
4:31
my chest. I couldn't breathe. I was like, oh my God.
4:33
So I
4:34
got down. I got down without falling. Actually, that was good.
4:37
I was like, OK, I got to find someone to climb in this window.
4:39
Someone, you know, something smaller. But
4:41
there's no one around like usually the workers
4:44
are around here like working on
4:46
their houses and stuff. And they're all gone. I
4:48
was like, oh, man. So I was just
4:51
looking around for somebody. Then I walked
4:53
down. I was like, oh, it's like three three
4:55
fifteen or whatever. Like those
4:58
kids are coming up from school usually around now.
5:01
I'll get one of them. So
5:03
I walked down a couple of blocks down to the main
5:05
street. There's a bunch of kids that walk down that road
5:07
now because the school bus drops them off and they've they've been caught
5:10
on. We had a rash of break ins the last
5:12
year. Not not the last couple of months,
5:15
but people
5:15
had them on their on their doorbell
5:18
cameras and stuff like these junior
5:21
high kids and high school teen kids
5:23
breaking into people's houses all the time. Oh,
5:26
yeah. You might as well put you might as well put their skills to good use.
5:28
Then that's what I was thinking. I'm like, these kids, I
5:30
got experience with this stuff. Then I started thinking,
5:32
like, I don't want to get too old of a kid because then I
5:35
know how to get into this place and I don't want
5:37
to become a target. So I was like,
5:39
I don't want to get too like, you know, like I
5:41
want to get a kid looks like like a boy scout, not like,
5:43
you know, some skate punk kid that look like one of
5:45
my friends growing up, some hooligan
5:48
or something. So I was like, I see these two kids,
5:50
two boys walking up and I was like, oh, perfect,
5:53
they're like, like fifth, sixth grade or something. Well,
5:55
hey, what's up, you guys? And like kind
5:57
of a stranger danger, you know, there's like. They
6:00
said, nod the high, hello,
6:02
whatever. And they're, hey, you guys, want
6:05
to exit money? I go, I'll give you like five bucks.
6:07
If you go climb my bathroom window, I'm
6:09
locked out and just go in and unlock the door for
6:11
me.
6:12
The kid looks at each
6:14
other and looks at me, and I'm like, look, I'll give you 10
6:17
bucks. They
6:19
start walking away faster, and their eyes are all big,
6:21
and they're scared, but they
6:23
just start running. I was like, oh,
6:25
no. I was like, oh, my god. They're going
6:27
to run home and tell their parents I tried to
6:30
kidnap them. You know, like, hey, you
6:32
want some candy? You know, you want some money? Come
6:34
with me and climb in this bathroom window. And
6:37
they just took off running the night. I took off running
6:39
the other way. And
6:42
I was sitting out front just waiting
6:44
for the cops to pull up, and I'm like, oh, I gotta
6:46
explain this one. Yeah, you
6:48
try to sneak them into your house somehow. Right,
6:51
right. It's not a good look, Bobo. It's not a good look. It's
6:54
one of those things, like, you know, you get caught in that situation, like,
6:56
but really, I was just, you know, like, you just look
6:58
guilty no matter what. Yeah, no matter what.
7:01
And anybody who doesn't know your background would
7:03
say, that doesn't happen to people. You
7:06
know, there's no way that you lost a key on a key chain,
7:08
and then the other one doesn't work, and
7:11
this is nonsense. It's like watching an
7:13
episode of Seinfeld with Kramer or something. Exactly.
7:16
Well, you live like that, man. How do you deal
7:18
with
7:18
your life, man? I hate it. It
7:21
just must be so frustrating. It is,
7:23
because I was back on time, like, I was going to
7:25
be all set, ready to go, have
7:27
my new equipment, and then also,
7:30
I don't have my key, and then the key
7:32
in the hiding spot is the wrong key.
7:34
Weird. Yeah. Well,
7:36
you missed a great witness, unfortunately. Her name's Barbara,
7:39
and I guess you'll be listening
7:42
to the podcast. It's like all of our listeners will
7:44
be listening after this. So
7:46
I guess with this, Bobs, why don't we just
7:49
cut to my interview with Barbara, and
7:51
you can enjoy the episode along with everyone else.
7:53
Yeah, I want to hear this. You've been raving
7:55
about her, man. I'm so bummed I missed
7:58
her. I just, ah. So
8:00
she's super cool. She's 100% legit
8:02
man. And she had a crazy encounter. So
8:05
listeners, Bobo feast your ears
8:07
on this.
8:08
Will do. Hello, everybody.
8:11
Welcome to another episode of big fun
8:13
beyond with Cliff and every once in a while
8:15
Bobo. Bobo is not here,
8:17
although he is currently as I say
8:19
this desperately trying to
8:23
break into his own house.
8:25
That's true. I'd rather Bobo
8:27
get to tell you this story and I
8:29
mean, I've been to Bobo's house. I know what it looks like.
8:32
I know the quality of the house. It really should
8:34
not be that hard to break into the house. A
8:36
good push on the front wall would collapse
8:38
half of it. So I really think
8:41
that we will be hearing from Bobo at some time
8:43
in the next hour, but I cannot guarantee
8:45
that. I wish I could. And
8:48
I'll tell you, it is quite the story this time.
8:51
As you know, Bobo has a cloud of chaos following
8:54
him around wherever he goes, just like pig pen
8:56
from the Snoopy cartoon has a cloud
8:59
of filth following him around. But
9:01
chaos has struck again. Murphy's
9:04
law has struck again. Bobo
9:06
is just Bobo and there's nothing any
9:08
of us can do about it. Not even Bobo,
9:11
but at the same time,
9:12
that's the reason we all love Bobo, isn't it? Bobo
9:15
is himself unabashedly and unapologetically
9:18
and he's a victim of himself,
9:21
unfortunately. And today's another example
9:23
of that. But hopefully Bobo can break into his
9:25
own house and turn on the computer and
9:28
join us in the next few minutes
9:30
or hour or something. We'll see because
9:32
Bobo is going to be super bummed he's going to miss
9:34
this one. We have a fantastic guest today.
9:37
We've brought in this witness. This
9:39
woman, his name is Barbara. She came into the NABC
9:42
last week or something like that. And
9:44
I took a citing report from her and
9:46
it was just one of those citing reports
9:48
that I just knew I had to share with the
9:50
larger public. It is so great,
9:53
so dramatic and so unusual.
9:56
I just knew I had to share it with you guys and
9:58
because you know, I
9:59
am a.
9:59
Most sightings are the thing random ran
10:02
across the road or is standing on the side of the road and
10:04
it's a point on a map It is a place in
10:06
the time on a map that points us to maybe we
10:08
where we can look for Sasquatches in the future
10:11
But this one this one's a little special
10:13
in some ways and you'll see what I mean So
10:17
Barbara, oh by the way, if there's a that also
10:19
I want to let you guys know that Matt Prude is a fantastic
10:22
producer And he's gonna make this sound as good as possible.
10:24
But Barbara is actually sitting in the same room
10:26
as me right now So if you feel that this
10:29
that this podcast is not the same
10:32
audio quality or something like that,
10:34
that's why I know Matt's gonna do a great job cleaning
10:36
it up and making it sound great But Barbara and I
10:38
are sitting around a microphone together upstairs
10:41
at the North American Bigfoot Center right
10:43
now So if you probably hear some of the room
10:45
noise room ambience and that sort of thing So
10:48
I wanted to explain that as well. But
10:50
Barbara, thank you very much for coming
10:53
on Bigfoot and beyond with Cliff and every once in a while Bobo,
10:56
thank you Cliff. It's nice to Yeah,
10:58
thank you. Thank you so much Well, let's start
11:00
by talking about your background
11:02
a little bit because you are a very competent
11:05
observer because of some of the things You've done in your life
11:08
like law enforcement, for example, so can you tell us a
11:10
little bit about your background?
11:11
Sure I have
11:13
degrees in building inspection plans examining
11:16
and worked in Marion County doing that
11:19
until the housing
11:21
crunch in the 80s and Then
11:24
I went into law enforcement
11:25
because there's no shortage of criminals No,
11:27
and I don't think there ever will be I stayed there with
11:29
Multnomah County for 16 years
11:31
as a deputy and After
11:34
that I retired were you a
11:36
beaten copper? Just a dust thing or what were
11:38
you doing for that because I was a lot my father was a sheriff
11:41
So there's all sorts of roles. What did
11:43
you do? I did everything from courthouse
11:45
to transports
11:47
When I injured my knees, I end up with
11:49
three total knees Then I
11:52
went in inside correctional facilities
11:55
because I could work for controls and things like
11:57
that. Great. Okay now the siding
12:00
That was before you became a law enforcement officer,
12:02
is that right? Correct. Okay,
12:04
okay. Very good. Now, had you ever thought
12:07
about Sasquatches before the sighting
12:09
at all?
12:10
I had heard about Bigfoot, but I
12:12
used to laugh because I thought these people were
12:15
bonkers. I didn't believe in Bigfoot
12:17
at all. Okay,
12:19
and just to set the scene here, your
12:22
sighting happened when?
12:26
The first or second weekend in July. Okay,
12:29
very good. Well, let's just start from there. What
12:32
were you doing? Who were you with? How
12:35
did you get to the spot? All that sort of stuff. Just
12:37
tell us the whole story, and I'll prompt
12:39
you if I need to about questions. Okay,
12:42
I was dating a man who was a Native
12:44
American Indian. He
12:46
was 6'7",
12:47
very
12:48
bold-billed, because
12:51
of his Indian heritage, was able to gain
12:53
entrance to the Umatilla
12:55
Reservation where we ended up going that
12:57
weekend. We chased wild horses,
12:59
swam in the river, and just kind of spent
13:02
the whole day there. He said he knew his
13:04
favorite campsite, which was up in
13:07
above Pringville, about 20 miles
13:09
up on an old logging trail. He
13:12
used to go bow and arrow hunting from
13:14
the time he was 12 up in that
13:17
area. We
13:19
had his Jeep. The ride-up
13:22
D logging trail was pretty hazardous
13:24
because it washed down in several spots.
13:27
We made it to the top, and there was a small plateau.
13:31
The plateau
13:33
ended. It was the end of
13:35
the trail from the logging trail. Under
13:38
one of the trees was a small, miniature,
13:42
beautiful little spring,
13:44
kind of like a mini crater lake.
13:47
So, an actual pit full
13:49
of water, kind of, or is it a spring seeping
13:51
out of the ground? No, it was a pit full of water right
13:54
at the base, the roots of a tree.
13:56
You could see quite a ways down
13:58
into the water. It was crystal clear. And this
14:00
is at the top of a mountain, so there's no other water
14:02
sources nearby. Correct. Okay.
14:05
Yeah,
14:06
we were about 30 to 50 feet from the ridge
14:08
going over the mountain.
14:10
So anyway, we made
14:13
a campfire, had
14:15
dinner, and we were pretty
14:17
tired from the
14:18
day's activities. So we went to bed in a
14:20
pup tent. And
14:23
about 3.30 in the morning, this
14:26
god-awful, screeching, screaming,
14:32
it's hard to describe. It made
14:35
your body vibrate. It
14:38
hurt your ears, and it was
14:40
just one after another.
14:43
And we had no idea what was going
14:46
on. So
14:47
he said to get out of the tent, and
14:50
it was pitch blackout. We couldn't see our hand in
14:52
front of our face. The fire had gone
14:54
out.
14:55
So we stood with our backs up against
14:57
a tree, and we couldn't
15:01
figure out what it was. We couldn't hear each other
15:03
as we were standing side by side because it was
15:05
so loud. So you couldn't hear yourself over
15:07
the screaming that woke you up?
15:10
No, because we both had guns. He had
15:12
a .45 and I had my .38.
15:14
And he said after a few minutes
15:17
of this, he said, I'm going to fire up in the
15:19
air and see if it scares whatever it is off.
15:22
And I said, if you do, we're dead.
15:25
And I truly believe that. So
15:27
I stepped forward into the Jeep, and he pulled
15:29
a switch. I don't know what
15:32
it turned on the headlights. Oh, okay. How
15:34
far away was the Jeep from the tree? Two
15:36
or three feet. Oh, so it was right there. You didn't
15:38
have to make a brake for it for 20 feet or something.
15:40
No, it was right there. And
15:43
turned on the lights, and
15:44
we saw three Bigfoot. He
15:47
was not a believer in Bigfoot. He'd
15:49
heard legends from his tribe that
15:52
his grandmother used to tell him, don't go out
15:54
hunting after dark because there's
15:57
a name that the Cherokee Nation has
15:59
for Bigfoot.
15:59
I can't pronounce it right now, but
16:01
he used to laugh at that thinking
16:04
she was just overprotective. Mm-hmm.
16:06
Where were the Sasquatches that you saw
16:09
when the lights came on? Probably 10
16:12
feet in front of the Jeep. So right there,
16:14
right in the spotlights? Right there.
16:17
Wow. What did they look like? Describe those
16:19
to us. Were they all the same or
16:21
were they different or what would they look like? They
16:23
appeared to be about the same height. They
16:26
weren't touching. They were
16:28
side by side and
16:29
I noticed they
16:31
didn't have a neck. They had
16:34
a concave head
16:36
shape. Oh, the conical shape? Yeah.
16:39
Conical? Yeah. And all I
16:41
could basically see was their eyes. They were very dark
16:44
color. We could tell they were angry.
16:46
They were just... I
16:48
wish I could better describe the noise. It
16:51
was unbelievable. It was horrifying. Was
16:53
it a high-pitched shriek or a low thing?
16:56
No, it was very high-pitched. I
16:58
couldn't even reach that pitch if I tried. It
17:01
was extremely high-pitched. Were the
17:04
screams long and drawn out
17:06
or were they short bursts? They
17:10
were shorter in
17:11
time-wise but they
17:14
were communicating. One
17:16
would scream and then
17:18
we would hear some behind us or one.
17:20
I can't tell. I didn't see it. And
17:23
then the other.
17:25
They were communicating with it. The
17:27
three that you saw right in front of
17:29
the jeep, ten or so feet in front of the jeep,
17:32
you would see one of them scream and
17:34
then one behind you in the
17:36
dark would answer. Yes, they would respond.
17:39
So it would be safe to say there were at least four there.
17:42
Exactly. Okay. Three
17:44
that I could see and the rest I had no idea. Okay.
17:47
Now, what color were the Sasquatches? Dark.
17:50
Very dark brown to black. Dark brown to black.
17:53
And all three the same, more or less the same color? Yes.
17:56
Like skin on their faces or any. No.
17:59
No, I couldn't. I could see eye glare,
18:01
but because
18:04
the Jeep was kind of tilted
18:06
slightly downward
18:07
from where they were standing, I
18:10
didn't get a full-on
18:12
shot of their face with the headlights. It
18:14
was more
18:15
from here down. Oh, I see. So the headlights illuminated,
18:18
made their chest downwards because
18:20
it was facing downslope and they were on maybe
18:22
an up slope, maybe in front of it. Is that right?
18:25
The Jeep was like this and they were kind
18:27
of on this little slanted spot
18:30
here. Okay, that makes sense. That makes sense. Stay

19:45
What color was the eye glow? The
19:48
reflection. It was
19:50
like the reflection of the headlight with maybe a
19:52
little bit of red in the eyes. But
19:55
that wasn't something I was real focused on. I
19:58
imagine not.
19:59
I really thought we were going to die because
20:02
you're witnessing something
20:04
that, number one, neither one of us believed in.
20:07
Number two, it's horrifying and
20:09
terrifying. And number three, I thought
20:11
they were going to kill us. We
20:13
didn't know why. Why they even appeared
20:15
in our camp. And then it dawned
20:18
on us later after the episode that we
20:20
were sitting on top of that spring.
20:22
And this is the middle of summer. So
20:25
that's probably their only drinking
20:27
source up on that ridge.
20:30
So of the three Sasquatches
20:33
that you had eyes on, not
20:35
counting the one behind you, do you think all
20:37
three of them vocalized at some point
20:39
or was it mostly one doing it or
20:42
could you even tell? I
20:44
couldn't really tell. It sounded different from
20:46
each one. They were, I
20:49
don't know how else to say it, communicating. And
20:52
I believe it was to see whether we lived or died.
20:55
How thirsty they were.
20:58
Were they moving at all or
21:00
were they stone still? What were they
21:02
doing actually while they were standing there screaming?
21:05
They were stone still
21:07
until, and I can't give an
21:09
estimate as to time, I'm guesstimating
21:12
five minutes, six minutes maybe. And
21:14
then they slowly started walking.
21:17
They turned slightly to
21:19
head up toward the ridge and
21:21
they never took their eyes or their head
21:24
off of us as they went up the hill. And they
21:26
continued to screaming until
21:29
they were well down the other side of the mountain
21:32
until we were out of earshot. And
21:34
we stood up on that tree for about
21:36
an hour and a half until daylight because
21:38
we were afraid to move. Sure. So
21:41
you had your backs against the tree, shoulder
21:43
to shoulder, looking at these things that
21:46
everybody else in your entire life has told you aren't real.
21:49
I just believed they were. Yeah.
21:51
You're just like, well, now what? And
21:55
you thought you were going to die at the time. I did. Yeah.
21:59
What were you trying to do?
21:59
trying to communicate with your partner who was there.
22:03
We didn't know what we were seeing until he flipped on
22:05
the headlights or what we were listening to. His
22:08
first thought was maybe a bunch of bikers
22:10
who'd come up there with a boombox.
22:14
And I said, it doesn't sound like that. And
22:17
then he said, well, I'm going to fire my gun and see if it
22:19
scares whatever it is away. And
22:21
that's at that point, I said, don't or we'll die. Don't
22:24
do that. After he saw them,
22:26
I don't think he's ever spoken to this
22:28
day about the sightings. Although
22:30
we did go down to the ranger station in
22:33
Pendleton
22:34
and walked in there because we had
22:36
footprints right where they were standing.
22:40
And we walked up to the ranger. He was sitting
22:42
at his desk and we just thought
22:45
we'd made the discovery of a lifetime. And
22:47
I said, do you have any plaster of Paris?
22:49
Because we can get footprints.
22:51
And he looks up from the desk like he's just irritated.
22:54
And he said, lady, I know they're up there. What
22:56
do you want me to do about that? And
22:59
we were like, what? He
23:02
knew it. He said, just ask a logger.
23:04
They won't tell you because that would be their
23:06
livelihood
23:06
going away. So
23:09
that was it for my Bigfoot experience.
23:12
Well, what was the conversation like in the car
23:14
once daylight broke and you had to break camp?
23:18
He was focused on getting to the
23:21
ranger station because
23:22
we could prove what we had seen.
23:25
And after that, I think it kind of deflated everything
23:28
for him. And
23:31
I don't know how he processed it because the rest
23:33
of the way home back to Portland, he
23:35
didn't speak about it.
23:37
He never said a word. I just tried to bring it
23:39
up. And I think it rattled him so
23:41
badly that he just couldn't process.
23:44
So his Indian tradition
23:47
grandmother was right. Yeah.
23:49
So now this is
23:51
just some man that you dated way back in the day. Did
23:54
you keep in how long did you did you keep in touch with
23:56
him at all or just kind of faded away as
23:58
people often do?
24:00
He just faded away. I see. So we dated
24:02
for maybe a year. A year or so.
24:04
And then, OK. And then didn't really
24:07
come up in conversation after that so much? He
24:09
said specifically he didn't want to talk about it.
24:11
Oh, OK. Whereas I wasn't
24:14
too keen on talking about it either at the time,
24:16
but it's
24:18
just one of those things you can never undo.
24:21
Once you've seen it, it's there permanently.
24:24
So I just delved heavily into Bigfoot
24:27
research and
24:28
reading and movies and videos
24:30
and anything I could get a hold of. They just joined
24:32
the subject in general. To try and understand
24:35
what it was we had seen and
24:37
what they were.
24:38
Well, there's been a few decades of processing
24:41
now, since the early 1980s. What
24:45
conclusions, if any, have you come to?
24:47
How does this sit with you nowadays?
24:49
A friend of mine saw Bigfoot last Saturday
24:52
up in the McMinnville area. You told me I'm going
24:54
to see if I can check that out maybe this weekend. Yeah. OK.
24:58
And she asked me if I wanted to go with
25:00
her.
25:01
And at this point in my life, I
25:04
told her no, because I have no desire.
25:06
I've seen it. I don't want
25:08
to put myself in jeopardy,
25:12
which I think she possibly was
25:14
doing because they discovered a Bigfoot
25:16
nest. And that's at the point where
25:18
the Bigfoot made themselves known.
25:20
They growled and they stomped. And
25:23
she actually saw one dart behind
25:25
a tree. That's something she'll
25:27
have to do on her own, which I will
25:29
not participate in. But
25:32
everybody else I know is curious. They want to
25:34
go up there.
25:35
And you're done with this. You have no reason
25:38
to try to see a Bigfoot again. I don't
25:40
need to prove that Bigfoot exists, because
25:42
like I said, I can't undo what I saw. I'm
25:46
curious as to what they are,
25:49
what their being is
25:52
about, why they're so elusive.
25:55
I have many, many questions about Bigfoot,
25:58
but as to their existence. that
26:00
question has been answered.
26:02
So you said the vocalization noise was higher
26:04
pitched than you could manage. And
26:06
was it repeatedly the same
26:09
sound over and over from when it woke you up until?
26:11
No. No? It changed
26:14
it. It went from highs to, not to lows,
26:16
but it was high pitched and
26:19
each one would
26:20
do their pitch and
26:23
then one would respond, whether it was one
26:25
beside them or one behind us. It
26:27
alternated because you could tell they were communicating.
26:30
Okay. But
26:33
each individual animal seemed
26:35
to be emitting the same noise when it went off
26:38
again? It wasn't the same.
26:40
It was like same high
26:42
pitch, but different. How
26:45
was it different? When I'm pushing you, but you know.
26:47
Just the intonation, the
26:50
sound wave, the, it's
26:53
so hard to describe. I can't
26:56
tell you. Right, okay. I get it, I get
26:58
it. And was it a single pitch
27:00
like, ah, or did it go, oh,
27:03
and drop off or? It didn't go low, but
27:05
it vibrated up and down. Oh, vibrated
27:07
up and down. Oh, okay. Interesting,
27:10
but always in the higher pitch. Always high. You
27:13
can tell it was very, very angry. And
27:16
that was the impression that we both got. They
27:19
were not happy with us. Interesting,
27:22
interesting. And even when they were walking
27:24
away and you couldn't see them anymore and their
27:26
sound disappeared into the night, it
27:28
was the same sort of warbly high
27:30
pitch thing? Yes. Okay. They
27:33
never stopped till they were well out of ear shot on
27:35
the other side. Stay
27:37
tuned for more Bigfoot and Beyond
27:39
with Cliff and Bobo. We'll be right back after
27:41
these messages.
27:47
With Lucky Landslots, you can get
27:49
lucky just about anywhere. Daily
27:51
Beloved, we are gathered here today to, has
27:54
anyone seen the bride and groom? Sorry,
27:56
sorry, we're here. We were getting lucky
27:59
in the limo when we lost our I'm sure the experience was
28:01
probably very overwhelming in a lot of ways.
28:19
And
28:24
also the headlights weren't on the faces
28:27
of the animals in front of the cars, but maybe from
28:30
the chest or whatever down. What
28:33
details can you remember about the
28:35
body or the shape or the color, the hair,
28:38
or any of those things? Well,
28:40
they didn't have a neck. They had very
28:43
long arms that came below their knees
28:45
because they were just standing there with their
28:47
arms at their side. Very,
28:50
very broad chest. They
28:53
were huge. How wide
28:55
do you think they were? Like a three foot
28:57
thing or a four foot width?
29:02
Very similar to the Bigfoot
29:04
you have downstairs. Oh, Murphy, our
29:06
model. Yes. Okay, yeah. His
29:09
is about maybe almost four feet wide. It's
29:11
about
29:12
that, you know, along those parameters.
29:14
Okay. So was
29:17
anything else similar to Murphy
29:19
or different that you can think of?
29:21
No. You see any
29:23
muscle definition? No.
29:26
Just all covered in hair? Just bulk and hair, dark
29:28
hair. Dark hair. How long do you think
29:31
the hair was? Probably
29:35
three inches maybe.
29:36
Okay. And all
29:38
one color that weren't patches or like lighter
29:40
tips on the hair or anything? I didn't see anything like
29:42
that. Just dark brown, blackish sort of. Right.
29:46
Okay. The footprints that
29:48
you saw, how long were they? They were
29:50
big because Jack wore a size 14
29:52
shoe. And
29:55
he put his foot beside the print
29:57
and there were at least three to four inches.
30:00
longer because he had really large feet.
30:04
But we never got to cast them, so I wish we
30:06
had. Were
30:08
they disproportionately wide?
30:12
Much wider than his foot, yes. Were
30:15
there any marks inside them or whatever?
30:18
It was a beautiful, just clean stomp?
30:20
It was in dirt. There
30:23
was a gravel area, but
30:25
the print we found that was the best was
30:27
right in the dirt beside the gravel. It
30:30
was tilted slightly, headed
30:32
toward up the hill. Interesting.
30:38
When they walked, did they walk just
30:40
like a person or was it different
30:42
in some sort of way?
30:44
They moved with their head toward
30:47
us. Their head was turned
30:50
facing you. They were headed up the hill, but their head
30:52
was on us.
30:54
They walked quickly up
30:56
the hill. They took big steps.
30:59
A lot of people describe Sasquatches
31:01
as moving very fluidly,
31:04
almost like they're floating in a way because they're graceful
31:07
and it's a consequence of what
31:09
we call the compliant gate. Did
31:11
you see this or was
31:13
it just like a person bouncing its
31:15
head or do you even remember?
31:17
Because it was going uphill, I
31:19
would say it's more fluid, but great
31:22
big steps. They
31:25
didn't stomp or anything like that. In
31:28
fact, other than the screaming, you wouldn't
31:30
have known they were there.
31:31
Oh, you didn't hear them while they were moving? We couldn't
31:33
hear them crunch over the screaming. I guess not. You
31:36
couldn't hear yourself talk over the screaming. Of
31:39
course.
31:40
Anything
31:43
else that you can remember you think would be important to share?
31:47
Not really. I don't recommend spending the
31:49
night in the middle of the summertime
31:51
in that particular area. I
31:54
still want to. I have no idea how bad I want to know
31:56
where that spot is. I'm sure
31:58
you could look up, though.
31:59
warehouse or logging map.
32:03
Yeah.
32:04
From the probably 60s 70s
32:06
era. Mm hmm. And find out
32:08
that where that trail is because they
32:10
probably would mark that spring. Yeah,
32:12
certainly the spring would be on there. But right
32:14
how many springs are there in the Ochicos, you
32:16
know, I don't know, there must be quite a few. Yeah,
32:19
I don't know. I very
32:21
much would like to go there and spend a week or so. Okay,
32:25
well, I wish you
32:27
luck. I'm not as smart as I look. Don't
32:30
let these glasses fool you. Well,
32:33
maybe you could take my husband because he wants to
32:35
go up there too. I bet he does.
32:38
What do you think, Matt? That's amazing. I know
32:40
that had to be terrifying and harrowing. But
32:42
as someone who's been trying to see one for a very long
32:44
time, I'm very envious. So I'm
32:47
situations like yours, I think, you know, you're not just
32:50
a witness, you're kind of a survivor because
32:52
it had to be fairly traumatic to
32:54
some degree. So thank you for being willing to
32:56
share that.
32:57
Yeah, Matt, I think it's totally fine that we use your,
32:59
you know, you use your track for
33:02
this recording too, since Bobo's not here.
33:04
Do you want to do any follow up questions or whatever?
33:06
Well, we have her.
33:07
Yeah, I'm always interested, you know, after an
33:10
encounter like that, there must be so many
33:12
frustrations when you see representations
33:14
of Sasquatch in the media subsequently. So
33:17
I wonder how someone who's had
33:19
that direct experience and observation
33:21
perceives, let's say, Sasquatch as it's
33:23
treated by the popular media over the years,
33:26
you know, always being dismissive and dismissive
33:29
of witnesses and of the potential
33:31
reality of these things. And how has that shaped
33:33
the way that you've seen the subject represented
33:36
since then?
33:37
I've seen it represented in many, many different
33:39
ways. The one thing I
33:41
object to is when they
33:43
try to make it seem like a soft and fuzzy,
33:46
cuddly,
33:47
big teddy bear, which it certainly
33:49
is not. It's to be taken seriously.
33:51
I would agree with that. Again, those
33:54
experiences like yours are so rare,
33:56
like Cliff mentioned in the beginning, you know, most witnesses
33:58
have this sort of, you
33:59
know, sort of serendipitous, very
34:02
brief encounter, and they're usually fairly benign
34:04
because most of them are motorists or they're seeing
34:06
it at a distance, even if they're on foot. And
34:09
so
34:09
those sort of close encounters that have
34:12
real peril at hand like yours
34:14
are rare, but are so impactful.
34:16
So I don't wanna sound disrespectful when I say
34:19
I'm envious because I'm sure if it had
34:21
happened to me, I would
34:22
not have wished for it
34:24
in those early days. But
34:26
it is the willingness
34:28
of witnesses like yourself to come forward
34:30
and describe those experiences that I think helped shift
34:33
it out of that
34:34
goofy, campfire monster,
34:36
schlockumentary, comedic
34:39
character into like, no, these are real animals
34:41
and they are large and they pose physical
34:43
threats. Whether or not they
34:45
behave dangerously or not, they should be
34:47
taken seriously.
34:48
Well, I'm just in love with the fact that they decided
34:51
not to kill us. Amen.
34:55
Yeah, it makes you wonder like, what
34:57
would it take? I
34:59
think it's a reasonable
35:01
conclusion that you were camped at a place
35:04
they wanted water and they didn't like you there. They
35:06
probably could have snuck in and got water without you knowing,
35:09
I guess.
35:10
No, we were like a foot away from it. Oh,
35:12
really? You were kind of camped right on top of it
35:14
then. Pretty much. It was a very small plateau.
35:17
Oh, I see. It was a sheer cliff like
35:19
on
35:20
that diorama. So
35:22
it was very close. Yeah, she actually
35:24
made a diorama of
35:26
the scene, complete with the Sasquatches in
35:28
the brush and in front of the Jeep. It is absolutely
35:31
cool. It's adorable, frankly. But
35:34
it's really good actually. Maybe we can post
35:36
it for something.
35:37
You know, one of the other things that I always
35:39
find so interesting, having interviewed witnesses
35:42
for as long as I have and witnesses who've
35:44
had those sort of up close, frightening
35:46
encounters,
35:47
is that there's a few things that have made their
35:49
way into the mythos and especially within
35:52
the skeptical or cynical realm.
35:54
One being that, you know, the Sasquatch is like
35:56
a wish fulfillment. You know, it's this
35:58
sort of like delusion.
35:59
hallucination that comes
36:02
from humankind's desire
36:04
to be connected to the wild. In
36:07
stories like yours, it's like, well, first of all,
36:09
there was no desire to see such a thing. So
36:12
it's not like there was a prerequisite
36:13
that served as a trigger for this particular
36:16
event or experience.
36:18
And it certainly doesn't sound like it was
36:20
a wish fulfillment. I mean, I think most witnesses
36:22
in those cases wish that it hadn't happened
36:24
because of not only the intense
36:26
fear or terror at the moment, but the
36:29
anxiety that comes in the aftermath of
36:31
not wanting that to happen again, not being
36:34
able to share it with
36:35
peers or friends or loved ones because
36:37
of fear of ridicule or disbelief. And
36:40
I was curious about how if
36:42
you felt those things in your own life where it was really difficult
36:45
to talk about or if you ever desired to
36:47
talk about it with other people.
36:49
This happened shortly before I entered law
36:51
enforcement and having
36:53
that job was not conducive
36:56
to anything other than a psychiatric
36:58
review. If you mentioned seeing Bigfoot,
37:00
so it's not something I would talk about. My
37:03
own daughters, I have twin daughters that do
37:06
not believe that I saw Bigfoot
37:08
to this day. They're
37:12
slowly turning around because they've
37:16
heard Bigfoot and their encampment
37:18
over in New Matilla when they go deer hunting.
37:21
So they're kind of on the skeptical mode at this
37:23
stage of the game. But
37:28
yeah, I had no clue
37:30
Bigfoot really existed. I didn't believe
37:32
in it. And the only thing
37:35
we had guns out there for was in
37:37
case we ran across a cougar like a bear
37:40
and that was just for protection. So
37:43
I don't think it would
37:44
have been anything more than a bee sting had
37:46
he fired at them. And it would
37:48
probably just enrage them. And I think there
37:50
would have been severe consequences.
37:53
Yeah, it certainly could have escalated. And
37:55
that is, you know, the anxiety
37:58
in the aftermath of such an.
37:59
experience very often is tied to that
38:02
the inability to discuss
38:04
the event because of the repercussions and and
38:06
I always say to those skeptics too about the wish
38:09
fulfillment like you know, I would have seen
38:11
about a hundred of them by now because I don't think many
38:13
people want to see one as badly as I do
38:15
and yet I never have I think Cliff's probably in the
38:17
same boat there too. Yeah I would
38:19
have so I would love to find out where this is just
38:21
to see if they keep going back there and it sounds
38:24
like a place that if you actually could stay there
38:26
for a month or two. Are you they
38:28
probably come back more than
38:29
once I guess I'm guessing but I don't know I
38:32
don't know I'd love to know where that was if that had a name
38:34
or something. I know you and jack
38:37
didn't really want talk about it so much
38:40
but you certainly told some people after that
38:43
and was it a mixed reaction some believe you
38:45
some didn't or was it really just written off.
38:48
The only person I told were my twin
38:50
daughters good and when were they
38:52
born
38:53
nineteen seventy five nineteen seventy five
38:55
so they're very young at the time and be told many
38:57
way like it's six years older seven no years
38:59
later okay it's gonna say it's not that's good motherhood.
39:04
No it was just something I kept to myself because
39:07
first of all you don't believe what you saw
39:10
and you can't shut it down because your
39:13
brain won't allow you to do that once
39:15
you've seen something it's there even though I'd
39:17
love to
39:18
forget it but that's not going to happen.
39:20
Did it cause you any stress
39:23
or negative feelings
39:25
of the time like I can't believe this my crazy
39:27
or no one else believes this and
39:30
I don't want to share it with or.
39:32
I love camping and I'll never go again.
39:35
I did sad every time I go
39:37
near the woods I need to be out of there before
39:39
dark really it's just the way it is
39:42
so you don't even camp to this day because
39:44
of that experience. I'm we've
39:46
taken our travel
39:48
trailer down to esta queda where they're
39:50
supposed to be some sightings but
39:53
unless I'm in the trailer that's
39:55
my safety zone. I
39:58
have camp that way but never.
39:59
again in a pup tent out
40:02
in the open. Oh,
40:04
you poor thing. I feel bad for people whose
40:07
Sasquatches have changed their, the
40:10
way they interact with the woods.
40:12
You know, I know some hunters who have never hunted since
40:14
they saw
40:15
them. And this seems like something similar
40:17
to that. So it's
40:19
unfortunate in a way, because it took something
40:21
that you love. It did.
40:24
But again, it's an experience that not everybody
40:26
gets to have. I guess it's a fair trade.
40:29
I feel lucky in one way and cursed in
40:31
the other. So what are you going to do?
40:33
I don't know. This, I guess.
40:36
All right, Barbara. Well, thank you very much for coming back
40:39
and sharing your story with our listeners again
40:41
and taking time
40:43
out of your day. I apologize about the
40:45
late start, but Bobo is who he is. So

40:54
and how he got into the house, because I'm sure that's going to be a
40:56
heck of a story. Great. Thank you. Thank
40:58
you so much for your time and your willingness to share.
41:00
We really, really appreciate it. And hopefully
41:03
more witnesses like you can step forward and we can
41:05
push the ball a little bit
41:06
further down the field and learn a little bit more about these
41:08
things.
41:09
Great. Thank you. All
41:11
right, listeners, there you go. Another episode
41:13
of Bigfoot and Beyond with our fabulous witness Barbara,
41:16
who came face to face, I guess, with three
41:18
of these things, screaming at her and there's
41:20
one behind in the dark. And in a way
41:22
I'm envious and in a way I'm super glad it
41:24
didn't happen to me. But I'll
41:26
tell you, it's a little bit of both. It's mostly envy,
41:29
but there's a little bit of the other side too. If
