If you thought it took a lot of money to purchase a home in Bismarck-Mandan, then you are in for a surprise. While traditional lending required 20% down, government backed loans allow home buyers to purchase homes for as little as 3.5% down. That is great news, but with the average house costing $295,000 in our area, that 3.5% still means you need to save up over $10,000. 

Thanks to some awesome programs at www.ndhfa.org you can get some help to purchase your home with as little as 1% down!! A program like this is the ND START program. You can find a list of lenders on the same website sorted by city or you can read more on my blog HERE.
