The unity of a people is always based on something that is bigger than any individual. No one man or woman can be the salvation of a people because when that individual dies the unity becomes fragmented due to a leadership vacuum. Embracing our ancestral culture and spirituality has been something we, African Americans, the descendants of enslaved Africans, have never seriously considered. Why is this?
