This podcast episode examines the many intersections, historical and socio-cultural narratives dictating the perceptions and understandings of black mental health. Narratives of mental illness are coded white and purposefully leave out and neglect people of colour, pathologizing them.This framework of theory is supported through examples of historical classifications of mental illness allocated specifically onto black folk , and using scholarly work.
