The daughter of a Buddhist lama and a Jewish-Athiest schoolteacher, she was raised with equal measure cynicism and freedom. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Mass Communications and Creative Writing, she moved to Atlanta to work for CNN, where she would collaborate on a Peabody-award winning team for four years. She's been the recipient of two international reporting fellowships with the International Center for Journalists, first in Berlin in 2010, and then in Moscow in 2013 ahead of the Winter Olympics. Rachel has produced documentaries, films, and commercials around the world, and has written for VICE News, CNN, PUNCH Drink and more. Most recently, she acted as the Sacramento Locations Supervisor for the Oscar-nominated film Lady Bird. Rachel is currently in the midst of directing her first narrative short film, "Rocking Horses," which will release later this year.
