2:05

point, but yeah, yeah, yeah.

2:09

Oh, man, the Twitter people love the yeah, yeah, yeah that you've stolen and

2:14

co-opted from Jimmy Jam Garvin in that ridiculous promo he cut on one of the

2:19

Saturday nights we were doing. But yeah, I forget who it was. Someone originally linked me to Jimmy Jam on

2:26

the BTT Facebook group. So, yeah, I've I've clearly I've owned that.

2:31

And yes, I am the jibby jam of the BTT podcast.

2:35

I feel like I should since I'm in Doc's chair, maybe I should do a little doc

2:39

disclaimer like he does when Harper's Harper is coming. Right. Right.

2:43

Harper is supposed to be here. Let's see if this is him texting. And it is him.

2:47

He says he is on. So let me conference him in right now.

2:51

3:25

Lance peterson all right all right it's me and doc call him the white mike.

3:33

Jesus no he's the jimmy jam garvin of

3:36

btt because whenever i introduce him if

3:39

you were on time you would hear him go yeah yeah yeah

3:43

like jimmy garvin but doing them stupid ass promos you're

3:47

an idiot man let me tell you you are an idiot oh i

3:51

know i know what's up man how you doing you

3:54

had a good day today at the shoot job or you get any chili cheese

3:57

hot dogs from the salvage store what's going on have y'all

4:01

ever watched that show uh love on the spectrum oh

4:05

my god just seen ads for it haven't seen

4:08

it no no hopper my

4:13

wife and soon-to-be 16 year old daughter were watching it about a week ago and

4:19

i kept going in the room angry at them for watching that because i am like Like, this is not funny.

4:28

Why are they putting this as a show on TV?

4:33

And they're like enthralled. Like,

4:36

they can't look away because it's so entertaining. Stop watching it, bro.

4:42

One of them, the font, loves so bad. Okay.

4:46

And you're like, oh, you know, this is the one. Then they're like,

4:49

oh, we're just going to be friends. You're like, oh, fuck.

4:55

It's like a game show. It's like, no, it's just, it's just people with like

5:00

different degrees of autism. Yeah. And they want to find a partner, a girlfriend or, or a boyfriend.

5:09

And they go to those, the speed dating things for, for autism people. Oh, okay. Yeah.

5:16

And that's how it starts. I just feel like they're being exploited.

5:22

I do, man. Like I'm not, look, I'm not, outraged by

5:25

the fact that like i i think there's

5:28

some good in it because like you know they're autistic there

5:32

are various degrees of it and they're

5:35

you know you want to match them with someone like them

5:38

not going to take advantage of them you know like

5:41

like but it like when i watch it i'm like

5:44

this feels dirty like why i don't

5:48

know man and again i am one of them i'm a type dude

5:51

who nothing offends me like i watch stuff

5:53

and go whatever i'm gonna cut the grass but i

5:56

watch that and i go is this right like should

5:59

we really be having this show on tv that's what i mean by that like i'm like

6:03

oh she went on a date with an ns all yeah right yeah so it's just it's just

6:14

it just feels weird man when you watch it it might be like i said my wife and

6:17

daughter they They couldn't look away. They're calling sick tomorrow just to finish it. Jesus.

6:24

Well, they're not like mentally challenged, right? They're just,

6:26

they just can't communicate well. Right. Exactly.

6:30

Yeah. Well, some of them have down, like there was a one girl who had down syndrome.

6:34

Why don't right. Only one with downs was when they were, it's,

6:41

it's, it's the girl that he's talking to.

6:45

She has downs. Yeah. Yeah. She has down syndrome.

6:48

Right but the actual people on the show

6:51

yeah it's just people with different degrees of

6:54

autism oh so it's not autism and autism

6:58

you know two autistic people it can

7:01

be right i mean they got one of them it's a guy with autism and he's just going

7:06

out like with a regular girl oh okay i didn't think she was regular from what

7:10

i saw but okay that sounds so mad that sounds mean when i say regular okay that

7:15

that just i don't i don't want to they got a black uh lesbian girl,

7:20

Okay, I didn't see that, but of course.

7:25

18, and she's really young. And she dresses like Strawberry Shortcake or something.

7:30

See, they need to be getting, I hope, okay.

7:34

They ain't getting paid enough for this show. That's what would make me mad.

7:39

Like, I feel, okay, well, good.

7:42

I hope they're making money off of being exploited, is what I'm saying.

7:46

I don't know, man. That show is weird, man. i i'm not saying nothing i totally

7:52

agree but when you watch this show it's like oh my god,

7:58

that's all i'm saying bro they got one dude he's

8:01

well i mean all these people never really been with you know

8:04

they're not experienced and and they

8:07

got this one dude he's like 23 and it's

8:10

just it gets to the point where you're like bro just stop being a bitch and

8:13

ask the girl out bro bruh he doesn't you see that's what i'm saying you can't

8:19

say that about him sound too forward or or you kind of but uh i'm like just ask her out again bruh,

8:28

they're like coaches they're like coach harper in there just.

8:35

He's oh there is yeah so like if you get to a conversation and it's and you

8:41

stop talking that's It's okay. You just run out of things to talk and just don't talk the whole time about yourself.

8:47

Let them talk as well and yada, yada, yada.

8:50

Because that's how Mike met his wife. Oh, he's autistic. You've been seeing

8:55

Harper there saying, come on, man, don't be a bitch.

8:58

Yeah, bro, just quit knocking out.

9:01

Oh, Harper, he's autistic. You can't just say, just stop talking.

9:07

It's not something he can control. Yeah. do you want to go watch Harry Potter okay,

9:16

The one I saw, he was on a date at the zoo with the girl.

9:20

Yes. I think that was the one. I think that's the kid from, he's from Clemson. He's my favorite.

9:29

He was like, I don't remember the girl's name. That was the girl who had Down

9:33

syndrome. And I'm sitting there. Yeah. And he's like, are you having fun, Julie? Are you having fun, Julie?

9:41

And she's like, yeah, yeah, I'm having fun. Are you having fun?

9:43

Like he kept he kept repeating himself and that's why i

9:46

was like this ain't right like i just feel like i feel

9:49

like they were exploiting them but i agree with

9:52

you i don't think i could watch a show like that i

9:55

have like i have this thing with like secondhand cringe me too

9:59

seems like that's gonna be the entire show just be

10:02

cringing the entire time and it's like

10:06

and then of course they show the parents and

10:09

they're like you know i just don't want them to be alone because

10:12

is when like we pass on who's gonna be there for him

10:15

and your heart just breaks oh man that's what

10:19

i'm saying right your heart just

10:21

breaks for you like oh my god i hope he settled i

10:24

hope he's you know dates this girl when it happens and

10:29

see the way i this is

10:32

this is i'm with crockett i think

10:35

it's cringy and that's why i'm like this is

10:37

wrong but i also see the side that you

10:40

just explained where you want them like they're even their parents are like

10:45

we want them to find someone because one day we're not going to be here and

10:48

then I don't want my child to be alone in the world like that type of feeling

10:52

and so that makes sense you have to have that perspective but I'm with Crockett

10:56

like I'm like cringing watching it,

10:59

they got one kid he loves those shitty Michael Bay Transformer movies.

11:05

And he's and he's talking to this girl and she's He's like, I love Transformers.

11:10

And his eyes just light up. Like, it's like Mike talking to his wife and she says, I love Mid-South wrestling.

11:19

You should hear a podcast I used to do. Yeah. Yeah.

11:28

All right. That's funny. That was a good one.

11:34

All right carver any other thoughts i got a couple of shout outs i gotta get

11:37

to and then we got some stuff we need to talk about all right so real quick

11:41

i did want to shout out one new patron brett k thanks for becoming becoming

11:45

a btt hall of fame patron and if you want to be like brett and become a patron

11:49

all you got to do is go to tinyurl.com slash patreon btt

11:53

11:57

12:05

So much more, all available on Patreon, the NWA Power Shows,

12:09

ECW Shows, the World Class Shows with Lance and I all are available on Patreon

12:13

at tinyurl.com slash Patreon BTT.

12:17

And I also have a five-star review to pull up from Apple Podcasts,

12:20

but of course, my phone is running very slow and I cannot get to it,

12:25

and it was a very good one. So on that note, let's go to the question we had,

12:29

Crockett, since this thing's running slow. We got a question from Steve, who's a longtime listener of the show,

12:36

and he had some questions about Sting's retirement.

12:40

Now, this is pretty lengthy, so bear with me as I read this.

12:43

He says, gentlemen, I know you guys don't watch AEW. You are correct,

12:47

Steve. But I'm curious to get your thoughts about how Sting's retirement is being booked.

12:51

If you have read anything about it, I'm sure you'll have thoughts.

12:54

And then he goes on to say, so being old school WCW guys, what do you think

12:59

stings you? What do you think of the retirement match?

13:01

I have no issue with Darby Allin being involved, but the Bucks, what WTF?

13:06

Are the fans getting another heaping helping of Eric Watts syndrome?

13:12

I'm going to stop right there for a second before I go to the rest of Steve's

13:15

question. You're right, Steve. As I was telling you on Twitter,

13:19

I don't watch AEW regularly. And my thoughts on Sting's retirement, I want to share something I was listening

13:25

to related to John Pollock's show on Post Wrestling.

13:30

Pollock said the Bucks were the perfect opponent. And what he meant by that was how hated they were.

13:37

And I was worried when I heard it was going to be the Bucks,

13:40

although I didn't watch it, that they were going to win those titles from him and Darby.

13:45

From what I heard on Pollock's show, Sting won and he rise off into the sunset.

13:51

So because they did it like that, and although I didn't see it,

13:55

I thought that was more than fine.

13:58

Although I would have liked to have seen him step away on a larger platform like WWE.

14:07

That's my thoughts. Crockett, what did you think? well he

14:11

tried to do that wwe and what they do yes

14:14

i agree job to triple h yeah yeah

14:19

and i yeah how would be bro what if he just goes at wwe years from now i mean

14:28

he's up there in age i don't know man i mean wrestlers never retire as the whole adage but.

14:36

But did we? Yeah.

14:40

Fuck, man. I saw the clip of him, like, yeah, the week before the retirement

14:45

match, throwing those jabs, and, oh, just please give it up, dude.

14:51

I mean, my thing is, okay, now what?

14:56

Now what in terms of Flair or Sting? Sting retired.

15:00

Okay, now why should I be invested in this product?

15:05

Because there's no Sting now. Sting had his, you know, his paint man moment. He's done. Okay.

15:14

Now why should they give a fuck about the cult?

15:18

I mean, here's the thing. I wasn't interested. If you like AEW,

15:23

I'm not going to say that, but MJF is out.

15:29

But I mean, like, he's a draw. all but like i like

15:33

i'm the wrong person to ask about aw in general because

15:36

i i don't begrudge anyone who watches it watch what you want to watch if that's

15:40

what makes you happy knock yourself out go do the javorski to it have fun for

15:45

me it's just not for me and i've stated that case a million times on air i've

15:51

tried a million times i've tried when punk was there the whole fiasco with tony and punk,

15:56

I just can't. I can't watch it. It's not for me.

15:59

But if you like it, and that's the type of thing you like, go enjoy it and do

16:03

the Dvorsky to it. More power to you. But, I mean, you're acting like Sting is the draw.

16:12

I mean, they'll sell out Wembley again or put 40,000 people in there, too.

16:20

OK, 30,000 people. How's that sound?

16:24

I would be surprised if it's like halfway full.

16:27

Maybe. But back to the question. This is just to close the loop on it.

16:32

I mean, what you read, obviously, it doesn't sound like either of you watched it like me.

16:37

I mean, right. right I'm

16:42

not paying whatever it is 60

16:45

bucks 60 fucking dollars to sit through shit shit shit shit shit sting at the

16:51

end well they say it was the best AEW pay-per-view ever the Will Ospreay match

16:57

was 7000 stars kicked in the balls 10 times before I could fuck J-Lo,

17:05

you'd do it. Yeah you you would do it no i i feel bad because like there's people there that

17:16

i like but i'm you're right i'm not spending 50 60 bucks on pay-per-view it's just not happening,

17:21

i don't even watch their free show so obviously i'm not doing it and i feel

17:24

bad a lot of times because there are people there that i like and actually i

17:28

was talking to people there i like to it was just you know look hey you know

17:33

what's on right now the pelican well i was gonna say.

17:37

Hey great i was gonna say like there's i've

17:40

talked to several folks who you know

17:43

they're not the biggest aw fans and they flat out told

17:46

me they actually enjoyed the pay-per-view so like they said it was one of their

17:50

better shows i'm gonna take their word for it that's great i'm not gonna seek

17:54

it out to watch it but if they like it good for them i mean that's my feeling

17:59

on it it just ain't for me i do think they did sting right like to to close

18:04

the loop on steve's question i think I think they did it right. Like I, I, like I said, I listened to Pollock's summary on it.

18:10

And from, from what it sounded like, they did him excellent.

18:16

And it was great the way they did it. And, and I'm glad because sting deserved that after this, you know,

18:22

almost 40 year career at this point. So good for him staying.

18:26

I'll never forget the first time I saw him in that blade runner gimmick and UWF.

18:31

If you could, if you would have told me that dude, uh.

18:35

Would have then went on the Clash of the Champions 1 and did what he did with Flair.

18:38

And if you'd have told me that dude would have been, you know,

18:41

Crow Sting and would have went on to this just great career,

18:44

I would have never believed it. Because he was like a robot in the ring. He couldn't move.

18:49

I mean, and it wasn't because he had muscles. It was just, he just had no fluidity

18:54

to him. He was just green and clueless.

18:57

And look what he became. And they did right by him in the end of it.

19:02

I don't think he's going to go to WWE and have any type of retirement match.

19:06

I just, I can't, me, I can't see that just because of his age.

19:09

And, you know, again, I know they did the one at the WrestleMania with him and Hunter.

19:14

And, you know, they shook hands and buried the war. You know, they buried.

19:22

I can't remember if he tried or he did hit him with a fucking sledgehammer.

19:27

And then they hug afterwards. Does that make sense to you?

19:32

Bro, I don't, like I said, that was all a show. It was cool.

19:37

That the best part about that more than anything was seeing sting in a WWE ring after all those years.

19:44

That, that was, that was the moment. Everything after that with the NWO coming

19:48

out, I was like, okay, here we go.

19:52

You know, we, we'll, we'll put this war to rest at this point,

19:55

but I think they did sting, right.

19:57

And I don't know, Crockett, you get any other thoughts?

20:00

Yeah. Yeah, I mean, the consensus online, like I said, I didn't see it.

20:03

The consensus online is that, yeah, it was the perfect ending for Sting's career.

20:08

And that's good to hear. Good to hear. But yeah, I'm not going to seek it out.

20:14

You know, attracting the casual fan, which is what you need.

20:19

Has there been somebody during the era of, I agree with you,

20:23

Harper, what you said there about the casual fan. Has there ever been somebody...

20:27

Outside of or anyone else outside of

20:30

sting that you would say is as big of

20:33

a star as he is during the era after the territories

20:36

is what i mean because the territory areas is a little different but from

20:39

mid 80s to now has anybody

20:42

up until this point been as big

20:46

of a star without having that

20:49

major wwe run and i'm

20:52

sure somebody's gonna say such and such from new japan and

20:55

like it's all all subjective but i think

20:59

no i don't know if there's anybody like i think of sting is

21:02

the one guy who didn't have that long wwe run

21:05

that is became as big of

21:08

a star as he is i mean the dude stayed in tna for all those years

21:11

think about that after wcw never went

21:14

to wwe oh dude i totally agree if

21:17

you're making money and you can live the life you want to live and why not but

21:22

i couldn't think of another like name that became as big as him that never had

21:26

the WWE machine behind him sure someone will tell you yeah somebody will it's

21:30

cool send email to Harper at yeah at Mike Mills,

21:36

but mud Mike Mills. All right let me go and you alluded to the last thing I was going to ask Crockett

21:46

one more thing Steve said am I wrong to think Ric Flair is trying to die in

21:50

the ring his latest amble Oh, he had an excellent, had an excellent flare.

21:55

I poke and everything else was just a sad old man.

21:57

It sucks to watch your favorite embarrass themselves at the end.

22:01

Hey, you ain't got to tell me that Steve, I saw his quote unquote last match pay-per-view.

22:06

That was a joke. And we reviewed it on Patreon. It was.

22:11

I think it's the only place where he truly feels like himself.

22:16

It's in the ring. It's the only place he truly feels happy. And he feels young

22:21

again And the fact that he spends money As fast as he makes it And he needs to keep working.

22:27

No lies detected. So on that note, I do have a five-star review to read on Apple

22:34

Podcasts. This comes from Nathan Atlas, and the title says, The Best Friends You'll Never Have.

22:42

There are so many great things to say about this podcast. Unfiltered,

22:45

funny, real, and all centered around old-school wrestling.

22:48

It doesn't get much better than that. However, I'm going to highlight the only negative.

22:54

After listening to just one episode, you'll want to hang out with these guys.

22:58

You'll want to be a guest on the show. You'll wish you could get drunk with Doc and listen to Soundgarden.

23:03

You'll want to go to Kenny's Key West with Hopper.

23:09

You'll want to try and convince Mike to get back in the ring for one last match.

23:16

Mike, what, do you go to high school with him? Those things will probably never

23:20

happen, but you can enjoy this show every week and pretend these guys are your

23:24

best friends from high school. If you graduated in the late eighties or early nineties, what more can you ask for five stars?

23:31

Thank you, Nathan Atlas. That is an excellent five-star review.

23:35

And yeah, unfortunately Kenny's Key West is closed, so we can't go there.

23:39

And if Luke Hawks would book it, I would have one final match.

23:43

And trust me, if you went to Doc's house, it would end in him being drunk,

23:47

sad, and listening to sound garden. Cause that's what he does.

23:51

You still have that road warrior t-shirt no no

23:55

it was no yeah it was from

23:58

the wwe it was oh is

24:00

that one that's the box with these spikes around it no

24:04

it was when it came back and like

24:07

that i think it was when he had sunny oh led

24:10

2000 that i think it was right before that it was it was the black t-shirt and

24:17

on on the front was a black and white picture of one of them it was just their

24:23

face and they're like ah and on the back was the other road warrior,

24:28

i don't remember seeing that it was something like the mid to late 90s,

24:33

well it's definitely it's definitely club wear that's for sure oh yeah bro from

24:37

dusk till dawn whatever turns you on i'll make you famous.

24:43

Unfortunately, him and Randy can't find it since Hurricane Katrina,

24:46

so we'll never see that picture of Harper with hair with a t-shirt at Kenny's Key West.

24:52

And it disappoints me. Horsemen.

24:56

We're all doing the four horsemen. They were all shit-faced doing the four horsemen

25:01

with the real horse t-shirt on.

25:04

And we got these horses to do the four horsemen thing, too. They didn't know

25:07

what the fuck they were doing. I was like, four fingers up. Four fingers up.

25:12

As Doc said, another tragedy to come out of Katrina. Yeah. The fact we don't

25:16

have that photo. Oh, man.

25:20

All right, Crockett, let's keep moving. You had something about WCW contracts once Bill Watts came in.

25:28

Harper, you're going to love this because Crockett was doing some research,

25:32

and you really need to hear what Crockett is about to present.

25:36

So, Crockett, the floor is yours. course yeah so uh bill

25:38

watts at this time as you guys have talked about

25:41

he's been brought in basically to cut costs

25:45

anywhere he can i think you guys talked about

25:48

the brian pilma situation you got into that a couple weeks ago yeah

25:52

a brief bit of um arn's take on

25:55

it yes yeah so he he came in he had just signed a contract when uh bill watts

26:00

came in with k on fry and yeah bill watts Watts did not like that contract and

26:06

started to bury him and told them and told Pillman that if he lost all the incentives

26:11

that were in the contract, that he'd start to push him again.

26:14

And apparently he did that. So that's why Pillman is coming back with a couple of wins now.

26:18

And we'll see one tonight on the show. But yeah, all the contracts.

26:23

Once Bill Watts came in, he added these five stipulations to all the contracts.

26:28

Number one, upon signing, the company owns the rights to the wrestler's ring

26:31

name and like this in perpetuity. Number two the company can give the wrestler 30 days notice to relocate to atlanta.

26:39

30 so what they gotta move to atlanta within

26:43

30 days yeah because they don't want to spend money to fly people in that's

26:48

fucking bullshit god forbid you got a family kids in school and stuff like that

26:52

that was my first thought but yeah yeah no 30 days number three the company

26:59

has the right to book the wrestler to a third party.

27:02

So they could send you to New Japan just on a whim.

27:06

Number four, the top dollar figure as stipulated in the contract is $7.50 a night.

27:11

Another $2.50 per night is listed as a performance incentive bonus.

27:14

So only the $7.50 per night is guaranteed.

27:18

And number five, it is specifically spelled out in the case of injury,

27:22

even life-threatening injury suffered on the job, that the wrestler is signing

27:25

away legal recourse against the company in regard to lost wages or paying medical bills.

27:30

Oh, fuck you, dude. Yeah, so they will not take care of you if you get injured on the job.

27:36

And you got $750 per night? That's a top dollar figure.

27:40

Yeah, that's what it says. it was a it was a

27:43

thousand but then they they took out 250 and said

27:46

that you only get that if you know you get you hit some bonus performance

27:50

bonus that sounds great man yeah and

27:54

apparently at this time just morale backstage was absolutely terrible i mean

28:00

i know arm said they he had took away catering or something didn't he yeah that

28:06

was one of the claims on fit or or he changed it he went cheaper, much cheaper with it.

28:11

And Arne's whole take on it was, you know, we're not like normal size human beings, man.

28:17

Like we have, you know, we work out, we have much more stringent dietary needs.

28:22

You know, we have to feed ourselves in order to grow, you know, muscles.

28:26

You don't just, you don't just grow from working out. You grow from proper nutrition.

28:29

Eating right and whatnot. And the thing is, you got to remember once you get into 92, you're getting

28:34

into an era of people are starting to realize you

28:37

can't just smoke and drink non-stop you you gotta

28:40

kind of train and start to eat right so

28:43

that was our that was one of our pet peeves yeah arn hates him i mean as as

28:48

we've discussed on the show numerous times yeah he was not well liked yeah i'll

28:54

send this to crockett um what what else did you have from that crockett uh harper

28:58

sending me a picture Like the, like the listeners can,

29:01

can see this picture I'm about to send you of, of this, of this real warriors, um, t-shirt that,

29:07

or animal real war animal t-shirt, but anything else Crockett before I get into

29:11

the opening of this show? No, that's about it, man. I think I got a couple more things,

29:16

but they're in the context of, of what we're going to see. So, yeah.

29:19

Okay, cool. I'm going to share my screen. Just let me know when y'all can see it. Got it.

29:24

All right. Right. So once again, we're covering WCW Saturday Night on TBS from October the 3rd, 1992.

29:30

So we're getting closer and closer to Halloween Havoc 92, where you can listen

29:35

to that review on Patreon at tinyurl.com slash Patreon BTT.

29:39

Great way to support the show and get tons of extra content,

29:42

including the video reviews that we do here as well, which Crockett and Hopper

29:46

are watching along with me right now. This week's episode was taped September 21st, 1992 at Center Stage.

29:52

It is the second half of the taping from that day.

29:54

Jim Ross welcomes us into the show. Arne Anderson is with him on commentary.

29:59

And when I go to it, Hopper, look how Arne Anderson is dressed.

30:03

He looks like a high school math teacher. Does he not?

30:08

Are you there are you on mute did he go piss anyway arn looks like a high school math teacher,

30:13

that's just the first thing that came to my mind it looks like a kind of

30:16

a yellowish t-shirt but maybe it's the hue on the screen i don't

30:19

know thoughts on arn anderson's attire as

30:22

he's doing commentary with jr right here now he

30:25

looks very dapper gentleman tonight he's got

30:28

the little tinted glasses yeah he's

30:31

a it's funny with good promo guys they're

30:34

not always great on color you know you think like ted

30:37

dibiasi mr perfect in the wwf neither of them were

30:39

really great but then you know good promo guys i the

30:43

jury for me is still out on arn he was all right a

30:46

little maybe a little low-key but he did all right this on this uh show tonight

30:50

i'll tell you who's who's good on commentary is pillman but uh he's in the first

30:55

match as we go to it is brian pillman versus brad armstrong they do a nice opening

30:59

spot that ends with brad drop kicking pillman who flies Lies through the ropes to the floor.

31:05

Man, these guys got in here and just look at that. That was impressive, man.

31:11

Crockett. I've got a few timestamps, one at 1045, one at 1150,

31:16

but I wanted to go to you because these guys kick things off and they're on fire.

31:21

Yeah, I got the 1152, but yeah, I mean, Pillman's heel turn.

31:26

I didn't see or hear the clash.

31:28

I guess that's where it happened. It's just, it's just so sudden.

31:30

And all of a sudden he's pulling hair and, you know, John with the fans.

31:35

It's, it's kind of just out of nowhere, isn't it?

31:37

It kind of did, but when they did it the way he did Brad, it was so just.

31:44

Mean-spirited as brad's on a crutch and he slaps the

31:47

piss out of him he did everything but call him a gimp is

31:50

what i told the guys and he really

31:54

like he really turns it on

31:57

man he like it was like

32:00

it did come quick but they did the

32:03

thing with with pillman a while back to where it seemed like

32:05

they were about to turn him and they didn't so you

32:09

know we had kind of seen the mean side of

32:12

him before but he took it to another level when he turns on brad and smacked

32:17

the piss out of him yeah so yeah he works the leg most of the match it's decidedly

32:22

really not a light heavyweight match and besides talking about the tournament

32:28

which is going to happen quote unquote next year,

32:31

they really are not referred to as light heavyweights and when i was looking

32:35

stuff up it says that basically watts didn't like the way that the light heavyweights

32:41

were talked about But as light heavyweights, he's afraid in the fans eyes to be taken that they'll be taken as not being

32:49

able to compete with the heavyweights because of that classification.

32:53

And yeah, and he then says if when the division returns expected to be handled

32:57

differently and probably have a different weight limit. But yeah, it never happens.

33:02

So anyway, like, yeah, they're just trying to get away from light heavyweights

33:06

and that terminology altogether.

33:09

So that goes along now. 236 or 234 well fuck that

33:15

ain't a fucking a light heavyweight why

33:19

are you trying to make sense of anything related to weights and

33:22

wrestling harper it's all of that back back

33:25

in the 80s early 90s guys were a lot bigger but but

33:29

i will say this crockett you just basically

33:32

confirmed what i was speculating about either last week or the week

33:34

before like watts's whole thing was he

33:37

didn't like the division and I'd never heard it confirmed

33:40

but I figured that's what it was so that

33:44

makes sense and that's why it never happens even though these

33:47

guys don't go anywhere for now it Watts just didn't like the light heavyweight

33:53

so we got this nice belt we had a great we've had some great light heavyweight

33:58

matches Pillman and Liger and whatnot and well screw it we we can't do that

34:04

because Bill Watts is a tyrant.

34:07

Yeah, imagine if they went back to Liger and Pillman with Liger as a heel.

34:10

It'd be a fun, like, different dynamic to the match. But no. I agree. So here's a spot that I have coming up.

34:18

There's a slam by Brad, but only gets a two count, followed by a right hand

34:21

that Pillman sells the shit out of. I just thought it was just a good little spot right there. Really enjoyed it.

34:29

It's rock bottom. Anyway. He hit him with a rock bottom in 1992. He sure did. He sure did.

34:35

Nobody makes moves up. Come on, man. Look at Pillman sell that right.

34:40

Yeah. Hopper. I was selling Crockett Crockett. I sent him the file to last week's

34:45

show, the whole bill Watts thing about the top rope.

34:48

So Crockett is aware of that. And since it hasn't, it hadn't aired as of us

34:52

recording this, but he, he is well aware of bill Watts is, I don't know.

34:58

What would you call that? Vomiting nonsense. Yeah. fucking what do you call that a word salad what the fuck pretty much pretty

35:09

much worked up last week we all did stupid,

35:14

yeah it's like like two weeks ago it was the light heavyweights the light heavyweights

35:18

will have the top rope rule waived and then I guess they decide they're not

35:23

going to do the tournament so they're just like everyone,

35:26

yeah so the finish I know the finish Finished, Brad misses a crossbody off the top rope.

35:31

Pillman boots Brad to the gut and then rolls Armstrong up for the pin.

35:36

And Arne says, that's the smartest match I've ever seen.

35:39

Pillman Russell alluding to him maybe not following the rules is what I kind of gathered from that.

35:45

Crockett, did you have any thoughts on anything else on the match?

35:48

No, I mean, right guy won, I guess. They're starting something new with Pillman.

35:53

Yeah, Brad just getting treated like crap, but, you know, what can you do, right?

35:57

We then go to an ad for Halloween Havoc, and then after the Halloween Havoc

36:03

ad, we're going to talk about Bruno right here.

36:06

And Bruno, Bruno's a broken record. I'm going to play it. We'll talk about it

36:10

on the other side. Here it is. Welcome back, everyone, to WCW Saturday Night. Jim Ross back with Bruno San Martino.

36:16

Bruno will be one of our co-hosts for the Halloween Havoc pay-per-view spectacular

36:20

on Sunday, October 25th in Philadelphia.

36:22

Now Bruno obviously the fans can call the local cable company

36:25

and watch this on pay-per-view but there's nothing like being in

36:28

the arena and seeing it live you're right Jim I can't

36:31

tell you first of all how excited I am for myself to be there

36:34

but to all the fans I would like to say this if you are

36:36

in the vicinity of Philadelphia I think you're from Pittsburgh New York Jersey

36:39

Connecticut Maryland make your way to Philadelphia because like Jim says is

36:43

to see this in person is the best way but those of you who can naturally catch

36:47

on pay-per-view because this is a night that you will never forget when you

36:50

talk about the best of wrestling and I'm not talking about the the best in the

36:53

United States, but the best in the world. You will see it that night. Jim, I'm so excited. I just can't wait.

36:58

Bruno, I know that in our conversations, you've always said that the fans in

37:01

Philadelphia and that area all throughout the East have supported you all throughout the years.

37:05

It's going to be great to see some of your old friends on October 25th. The greatest fans.

37:09

I wrestled there for almost 25 years. They were always so supportive.

37:12

I feel like a home, you know, as far as myself.

37:15

And I hope that they will all be there because it'll be great to see them again.

37:19

But more importantly, because they will have the time of their lives because

37:22

they will We'll see the best of wrestling. Bruno, thanks very much for being with us. It's always a pleasure to see you.

37:26

And now, ladies and gentlemen, let's go back up to Rhubarb Joe.

37:29

Talk about Bruno. Talk about GYD, Harper. What'd you think? Very bottom tone,

37:33

huh? Yeah. It's happy or sad.

37:41

Oh, my God. Just saying nothing while saying something.

37:47

I swear I've heard that same message from him a few times. Now,

37:50

let's move along, because the next match is DDP and Vinny Vegas versus Shane

37:55

Douglas and Marcus Bagwell. Harper, can you describe the Vegas connection, DDP and Vinny Vegas right here,

38:02

and your thoughts on what they maybe look like?

38:05

They look like they could probably sell you an eight ball.

38:09

I was thinking DDP might look like some, you know, idiot at Kenny's Key West he thinks he looks with.

38:20

Ball it's a fucking king's qs look at look at dd he probably thinks he's a fucking

38:25

pool shark oh my god i miss the black and pink tux from the vegas yeah fucking

38:34

drink it a fucking and his f-150 yeah it is fucking f-150,

38:41

Shane got his coat from the same place as DDP. Oh my God.

38:49

Well, this match is going to put asses

38:52

in the seats. It's a sellout in any building in the world right here.

38:55

Let me go to you, Crockett. What do you think of this matchup that we have between

39:00

these four over guys? Well, let me put it this way.

39:05

DDP applied a bear hug more than once. Do with that what you will.

39:11

Now i mean the vegas connection

39:15

did a couple of good blind tags uh nash

39:19

i don't know what it is nash doesn't look as big as he is like

39:23

he doesn't look super tall to me i don't

39:26

know if it's his gear or ddp being of

39:28

a similar size his upper body's

39:31

smaller that could be it too but he just doesn't look that impressive at

39:36

this point right here yeah excuse me yeah

39:41

no i'm messing with you man no but yeah i

39:44

mean it's there is some good tag work

39:47

from the heels but not a whole

39:50

lot to this one this like sidewalk slam

39:54

of sorts from vinnie vegas right here

39:57

watch the way he just toss his bag well i was impressed look

40:00

at this it's like yeah it's like

40:03

sack of crap man he's like he threw down a

40:06

sack of oysters hopper i was like what the hell got some height on it man and

40:11

then he he hits him right there with the with the sidewalk slam oh it was i

40:15

agree with you this wasn't actually bad i've got more on douglas later in this

40:20

show yeah there is something that douglas says that we're going to be going,

40:25

would you go to high school with him? So wait till we get there.

40:29

But for now, any other thoughts before I go to the finish of this one? No, man.

40:35

We get a hot tag to Douglas. Douglas is wheeling and dealing.

40:38

He hits Vegas with a big suplex, but Vegas breaks the pin.

40:41

Then all four guys start brawling. Meanwhile, in the ring, Shane Douglas is

40:46

going to hit a belly-to-belly on DDP, and Douglas and Bagwell are going to win by pin.

40:52

You know, I joked a little while ago saying this is a sellout in any building,

40:56

but it actually wasn't a bad match. It wasn't very long, but it wasn't bad at all.

41:00

I'm just giving these guys a hard time, but it was pretty good.

41:04

I mean i i didn't there was nothing like glaringly wrong at

41:07

all nobody botched anything or messed anything up ddp still

41:10

looks funny during this era but i give him

41:13

some grace it's uh not that bad give him his

41:15

flowers he's fine yeah i think

41:19

i was the first one to use the term by the way on the show i asked

41:23

you to give tom zank his flowers you should back in

41:26

the day i will not be

41:28

giving z-man flowers during i mean he's

41:32

deceased now i'll give him flowers gladly but if if we were reviewing this real

41:36

time no he did not get flowers back then that was a good duck for the clothesline

41:40

i'm telling you it was a good match the bad like you know and they're trying

41:45

to get shane over and it's fine like there's nothing wrong with this like we

41:50

i'm not gonna poopoo it at all. But one thing I am going to poo-poo is whatever the app was that comes up next.

41:58

It's Van Hammer versus Mike Freeman.

42:02

And Crockett, they replayed the world premiere video for Hammer again last week.

42:08

I, you know, Bobby Blaze tells me this guy's a good dude. So I don't like poo-pooing

42:13

on him. But the gimmick is dumb. And I'm just really tired of it. But anyway, he's taking on Mike Freeman,

42:19

who has a ridiculously stupid haircut.

42:22

Cut hopper any thoughts on what they used to call this back in the day when you

42:26

got when you got the sides like edged up or razored

42:29

like real high what did they call that back in the day that's

42:32

just a mullet right no i

42:35

mean like you see by his ears why he's got yeah right he's

42:39

got it shaved up there like like like an

42:41

asshole but yeah i think it's just a mullet right yeah

42:45

like for two inches above of his ear right uh

42:49

i think deep state hopper just

42:52

entered the chat yeah that's great yeah anything from this match though crockett

42:59

no just he does his obel slingshot suplex and that's it yeah he's wearing the

43:05

same gear he was the last one mike it's because it's the same taping.

43:11

Yeah this is this is the second half of the taping from that day from the 21st

43:15

of uh september Oh, by the way, Mike, before they went to this match,

43:19

they did like a plug for the hotline and the Ross report.

43:22

They talked about Polly's whereabouts.

43:26

And I guess at this time, Steve Austin is no longer. They took Polly away from Steve Austin.

43:32

So I think that's what's going on there. And they're going to do something else with Polly.

43:36

So I think that we've seen the last of Polly is Steve Austin's manager. Yeah.

43:42

I didn't remember it happened this quick, but there's also some stuff coming

43:46

up with Paulie and Medusa.

43:48

Yeah. And rude. That is.

43:53

I'm going to have to go grab the clip of what Medusa said about that,

43:57

of what Watts called her and Paulie after they shot a money angle.

44:04

And I'll leave it at that. It's coming up. It won't be till I think it's at

44:07

Halloween Havoc. Actually, Van Hammer wins.

44:11

No surprise there. From there, we go to the Halloween Havoc Control Center with Jim Ross.

44:16

There are a bunch of real quick promos from Cactus talking about Barbarian vs.

44:23

Simmons at Havoc. And then another replay of Rude losing the NWA title tournament

44:28

in Japan and building up Chono vs.

44:31

Rude at Havoc. there's more on sting versus

44:35

jake at halloween havoc i'm gonna get

44:37

to that promo in a second uh cracker before i get to the

44:40

jake promo any thoughts on

44:43

what i mentioned so far about the replays or

44:46

anything no i mean they showed

44:50

uh the cactus and barbarian thing i think

44:53

they're doing a good job getting barbarian you

44:56

know elevating him to getting the title match cactus i

44:59

think is injured at this time i think

45:02

he's supposed to he i read he was supposed to be out of the ring to mid-october but

45:05

he comes back before that you know cactus being

45:08

cactus butch reed was fired for

45:11

missing a shot that's why he's no longer around last week you know uh jake roberts

45:15

replaced him yep but yeah there's one more thing at the end of this but it's

45:20

after the jake promo so oh we're gonna talk about that because we're gonna trigger

45:25

harper with with that one we'll be triggered with what's coming.

45:29

He's going to be triggered bad. Just hold on. The Jake promo is good, but then we'll get into what's going to

45:34

trigger you. Cause I was like, are you freaking serious?

45:36

But let's go to Jake now talking about Halloween havoc.

45:39

Robert says, joined us and Jake, what is your opinion of this situation from WCW?

45:47

Oh, Jim, it really breaks my heart that the WCW doesn't want to be responsible for this type of match.

45:54

I mean, just because there's 12 things on the wheel that could and probably will,

46:00

oh, yeah, definitely will, in Sting's career, or possibly my own if it's the

46:05

luckiest day of your life, and it won't be, they don't want to be responsible.

46:09

They don't want to be liable. Well, I'll tell you what's going to happen. But next week, Sting and I,

46:14

we will sign some documents. The release is WCW.

46:18

That way they don't have to feel like they owe anybody anything.

46:21

And they don't have to say they're sorry. So we can have this match. So it will be non-sanctioned. It will be lights out.

46:29

But it will not be lights out for me. For you, Sting. Trust me.

46:35

Trust me, Sting. All right, thanks.

46:39

It's funny because he's talking about

46:42

wcw is gonna make them sign a waiver when they've all

46:45

signed waivers basically because watts won't take care of their medical bills

46:50

if they get hurt not watts but the promotion it's just kind of funny when you

46:54

when you listen to jake's promo and now what we know today any thoughts though

46:58

about jake's promo there from either of you no it's fine i mean I mean,

47:02

yeah, I mean, there's been better. There's been worse.

47:07

So this is what's going to trigger you, Harper. Yep. So it was announced first

47:14

that WCW TV champion Ricky Steamboat would face an opponent to be named the

47:18

following week, next week. And then it was announced that the new WCW and NWA World Tag Team Champions,

47:27

Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham, would defend their belts against Rick and Scott Steiner.

47:32

The problem is this segment that we're watching right now aired before Dustin

47:39

Rhodes and Barry Windham won the titles later in this same week from Dr.

47:45

Death, Steve Williams and Terry Gordy.

47:49

Main event of this show tonight is is dustin

47:53

barry versus doc and gordy the current

47:57

tag team here where it's his tag team championship match right so as far as

48:03

we know neither of these teams are the tag team champions well they go jim ross

48:09

goes as far to say the new tag team champions Barry Wyndham and Dustin Rhodes defend.

48:15

Yeah. So Jim Ross announces Barry and Dustin are the world tag team champions.

48:22

They hold the WCW and NWA tag titles because they defeated Gordy and Williams.

48:28

But we haven't seen Gordy and Williams. We will see it at the end of this show

48:32

that we're covering this week. So they broke the news that this would be the world tag title.

48:38

The Steiners and them would be the World Tag Titles match at Halloween Havoc 92.

48:44

But we haven't seen Barry and Dustin beat the current champs for the belts yet.

48:49

Yeah, like an hour and 15 minutes before they actually do it,

48:52

they're announcing that they won. Okay.

48:56

So maybe Bill Watts should worry more about his post-production team than finding

49:04

his fucking wrestlers and treating his wrestlers like children.

49:08

Yeah, that was horrible. That's all I'm saying. Yeah, that's fucking stupid, man.

49:15

Right, because it's your main event of this week's show. So if you're watching

49:19

this when it aired, you're like, wait, what?

49:23

Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham are the champs? What happened to Dr. Death and Gordy?

49:30

Well, you know, this is how we do it. Quality control.

49:35

It's always airtight, brother. Harper, you had stepped away for a second.

49:39

I said Arne Anderson was dressed. He's on commentary this week.

49:42

He's dressed like a high school math teacher or maybe something else. What do you think? Yes.

49:47

Oh, he's got Jerry Dooney. Take it back. He looks like my high school biology teacher right there.

49:56

You see? He went to Brother Martin.

49:59

Don't remind me. First four years of my life. Anyway. Replay of...

50:07

Hated it. Anyway. No i was in kennedy's district yeah that's true yeah right there by the city

50:17

park yeah i would have been kennedy but i actually almost went to 35 did you

50:23

say district yeah that was my that was the yeah i said dick strict no yes i said this trick.

50:34

Well let's continue we do see a replay of

50:37

last week when simmons and windham wrestled barbarian and jake which ended in

50:41

a dq with simmons and windham winning that match and then uh after the replay

50:45

we do go to ron simmons versus a gentleman by the name of uh kenny kindle i

50:51

need to get fast forward because i think i had a note from that i wanted harper's

50:54

take on this uh kenny kindle fella.

50:59

It's not a quick replay either. It's literally like 10 minutes of the match.

51:03

Yeah, it was a large clip. They were trying to fill some time, obviously.

51:09

Kenny Kendall, he is a, you know, we make fun of these enhancement talents, Harper, right?

51:15

But I want you to see this guy because he's a big bastard.

51:19

Like, watch when they go to him, which I guess is kind of cool because you put

51:22

Ron in there versus, you know, another big dude.

51:26

I mean, he's not huge, but he ain't little either. You see him right there?

51:31

I mean, he's got a little size on him. I mean, I'm probably overselling him,

51:34

but, you know, you put Ron Simmons in there against him and you let him dominate.

51:38

But Crockett, your thoughts on this match, Ron Simmons versus Kenny Kendall.

51:42

Yeah, Kenny Kendall might be a little taller than him even.

51:45

Yeah, I mean, this is just a quick squash. You got your world champion there.

51:48

You want to keep him strong. There's like a, he just like manhandles him. Like the body slams,

51:55

he's just like driving him into the mat. There's a hard buckle there that's absolutely devastating.

52:01

Kenny Kendall took it very well. And yeah, it ends pretty quick.

52:05

I guess he's almost like a Barry body.

52:09

Barry Wyndham. Yeah. Yeah, just a little bit more muscular, like a tad bit more.

52:16

I agree. I agree. He's Kenny Kendall from Kenny's Key West, I'm afraid everybody asked him. Maybe.

52:22

From dusk till dawn. Whatever turns you on, I'll make you famous.

52:27

What was the whole I'll make you famous tagline? I don't get that.

52:30

Why? Was it because B-97 would broadcast from there?

52:34

I know the guy that did those commercials and every time I see him,

52:40

I say from dusk to dawn, he goes, whatever turns you on, I'll make you famous.

52:44

It was provided by a confidential. Have you have you seen that YouTube clip that I've sent you that numerous listeners

52:51

sent to me of inside of Kenny's Key West?

52:54

And it was when they were doing the wet T-shirt contest B-97 night or something.

52:59

It's it's long. I sent it to you.

53:03

Month or two ago, whenever we first had the Kenny's conversation,

53:07

it, the footage is beyond.

53:11

I think so. The footage is beyond terrible. Cause it's shot with a fricking,

53:15

you know, VHS camcorder, you know, it's like the footage is just terrible.

53:23

I sent it to you. I'll find it again. Cause I had had so many people

53:28

send me this youtube video so the

53:31

night that we talked about it everybody must have went and googled it on youtube

53:35

and then they start sending it to me i'm like holy shit this is really the inside

53:42

of kenny's key west because i've been there you've been there right i'm like

53:45

that's really kenny's and it's right.

53:52

Oh man good times but i'll i'll i'll reset it to you tonight when we're done it's it's amazing,

54:00

it's it's long like it's over an hour but like you know when you could fast

54:03

forward and see certain clips of it i didn't watch the whole thing but i was

54:07

like oh my god that looks that is quintessential metery in the freaking 90s

54:13

it's like you if you're from there you're like Like, Jesus,

54:19

that's it. But let me go to Ron Simmons. He defeated Kenny Kendall, and let's see what

54:26

he's got to say. He's with Jim Ross. Just a few moments ago, what happened here last week, I think it was obvious

54:31

that the Barbarian and Cactus Jack want to make a very physical statement.

54:35

I know that Florida State always played Florida in the 11th game,

54:38

but there are games between now and October 25th. You're really a marked man.

54:42

You said it yourself. You are the hunted. You know something, Jim Ross? all this what i'm holding in

54:47

my hand is what every man in this sports want that be the world's heavyweight

54:52

champion i am at the top of the mountain where everyone wants to be and between

54:57

now and halloween havoc where the barbarian wants to fight ron simmons i've

55:02

got to concentrate on the rick roode the van vader whoever it might be.

55:07

Role of a world champion. I don't care who it is. But listen to this,

55:11

Barbarian. There won't be Cactus Jack.

55:13

There will not be Jake the Snake at the ring.

55:16

Where I'm from, and most of these

55:18

people can tell you, I was raised with fighting as a way of life for me.

55:22

I've literally done it to eat. And if it's a fight you want,

55:25

Ron Simmons guarantees this. It's a fight at Halloween Havoc you're gonna get. Alright, ladies and gentlemen, the champion.

55:33

I thought that was perfect. I love Ron Simmons. Crockett, your thoughts?

55:36

Oh, yeah. I was got the point across very well.

55:40

It's quick, concise Harper. Any thoughts? Yeah. I mean, he's the best thing here, huh?

55:48

Meaning he's right up there with steamboat and I'm sorry, Austin and rude.

55:54

And are you sorry if you're talking about baby faces or just in general?

55:58

Gotcha. I mean, I think you would think, huh? Am I just listening to too much

56:03

into it through like today's eyes. You listen to bill Watts. Watts, he was timid and wasn't, wasn't everything he needed to be.

56:13

And when he got the belt on him, he, he just wasn't as good as before.

56:18

If you listen to Bill Watts, his take on it, I'm just telling you what Watts

56:22

said. But as I say that, I totally agree with you.

56:26

Yeah. I don't know. Harper rude at this time.

56:29

Just, I mean, especially with, you know, Rick flares gone rude at this time

56:33

is just completely. Yeah. Not never in the conversation for being like a top promo guy

56:39

but here he is in terms of promos he

56:41

is carrying this i mentioned you this privately i think mike like a couple months

56:45

ago rude has never talked about as a big promo guy but he is like just on point

56:51

in this period in wcw he's phenomenal like his promo we've given him the rolex

56:56

and the tutu award numerous times rick rick rick rude is,

57:00

ridiculously good during this era i mean he's he's phenomenal and he does i don't i think he.

57:09

Rude it's just that not as many people have have

57:12

seen it because i'd rather watch this to him feuding with

57:15

the fucking ultimate warrior no yeah yeah i think yeah

57:18

this is his best yeah this is best stuff here in wcw i

57:22

agree it's like it's like the whole like kurt angle thing where everyone one

57:24

says you know kurt angle was in tna longer than he

57:27

was in the wwf and he had his best stuff in tna the

57:30

stuff that you know yeah fifth of the

57:32

audience saw yeah i think rude had a bigger audience with his stuff in wwf but

57:39

i think during this era if you really stacked it up against it he was better

57:45

here the problem is not as many people saw it so you won't get as many people to agree with it.

57:51

But if you know and you watched it and you've seen both and you can be fair

57:54

and objective with it, I think he was better here.

57:57

I just do. Like, his promos, he's such a prick.

58:02

He's so condescending in the things he says and talking about Steamboat's wife and kid. It's like,

58:09

That's just part of it. He is so damn good.

58:13

I mean, he's such a great heel. And he gets the credit he deserves,

58:19

but this is his best work. It's flat out. This is where he's great. But, Harper, I need you to really listen

58:26

to this next promo we're going to play. Tony Schiavone is sitting down with Shane Douglas.

58:32

And, boy, this is something. Here it is. Okay, World Championship Wrestling.

58:36

Very excited about the young top superstars we

58:39

have in our sport right now one of them certainly is shane douglas

58:42

thanks for spending some time with me you know as announcers we talk about your association

58:45

with magnum ta shane tell us more about that you know

58:47

i think once in everybody's lifetime i should have an opportunity to meet somebody like

58:50

terry magnum because he's been a real influence on

58:53

my life he's been like a second father to me and you know when i

58:56

was fortunate enough to watch hold on i gotta stop terry

59:00

well did you go to high school with him

59:02

franchise i mean i just had

59:07

to ask that question it's a good babyface promo

59:10

i'm i'm i'm gonna not really play the rest because i don't i don't know crockett

59:14

do you think there's more to it after this i mean he's good it's okay yeah it's

59:18

pretty much by the book he's he just speaks so fast it's like he's on 2x speed

59:23

this entire promo he just he doesn't take a breath i think he fucking looks

59:28

looks like a country music star. Nothing about him says Pennsylvania.

59:35

Right. In that shirt or whatever he's wearing. Yeah, the jacket with the fringe. Right.

59:43

Yeah. I'm with you. He does look like a country music star. Especially a 1992

59:48

country music star is what you mean. Oh, yeah. I can't wait to be on the road with Garth Brooks. It's a big opportunity for me. Yeah.

1:00:00

He does he no he he really

1:00:03

does he does but i died

1:00:06

when he was like terry like what

1:00:09

you went to high school with him franchise what's going on here

1:00:12

but then he does say magnum i

1:00:15

mean so he he did kind of

1:00:17

correct himself but it was fine i just i just had to

1:00:20

point that out it's a good meat and potatoes

1:00:23

baby face look at douglas you know

1:00:26

he talks about his recent wins against

1:00:29

greg valentine and the super invader and

1:00:33

again i'm making fun of it but he he really

1:00:36

was good here it wasn't bad at all like it's not it's not anything

1:00:39

to really laugh about so there was that any

1:00:43

other thoughts crocker before we keep going it's just so funny that

1:00:46

like it's just so blatantly bill watts

1:00:49

you know given the the black guy

1:00:52

the world championship and then you know where the blowjobs there's

1:00:56

the blowjob right there shane douglas they're just like it's a paint by numbers

1:01:00

it really is like he the way he he went and got i don't want to compare douglas

1:01:06

to like rock and roll express and like when watts had them in mid-south but

1:01:10

it is it's the he you know Bill, let me let me promote.

1:01:14

Let me let me make Ron my champion. And and I got to remember what Jerry Jarrett

1:01:18

told me when he said, where's the blowjobs, Bill? And I got to make sure I get a Shane Douglas, a pretty boy so that,

1:01:23

you know, the women will come. I mean, it's just yeah, it's it's Bill Watts. Like I'm not saying he was wrong to push Douglas here.

1:01:30

It's just but it is it is pain by numbers for him.

1:01:33

All right. On that note, we then saw another Halloween Havoc ad and then we go to Jake Roberts.

1:01:38

Now, this promo from Jake, it's better than the first one. So here it is.

1:01:43

Most eagerly anticipated pay-per-view spectacular ever at Halloween Havoc.

1:01:47

Spin the wheel, make the deal.

1:01:49

Three weeks away, you and Sting in Philadelphia.

1:01:53

Listen to them. They sound like a bunch of seals out there doing what anybody

1:01:57

wants. You see, I march to the beat of my old drummer.

1:02:00

I do exactly as I want to do. Don't you wish you could, Sting?

1:02:04

Let's be honest, Sting. Where are you at right now?

1:02:07

Are you at home? Are you thinking about what you've really done?

1:02:12

Do you really want to spin that wheel? Do you really want to make that deal?

1:02:15

I don't think you do. I think you're a gutless wonder. I think you've been an idol too long.

1:02:22

You make a lot of promises, Sting. You tell the little stingers to believe in you.

1:02:28

They shouldn't, unless they want to believe in a loser.

1:02:31

Because come Halloween havoc, as I said before, and I'll say it again,

1:02:36

Jim Ross, when you start playing with a snake, you're going to be bitten.

1:02:40

So don't turn your back on me sting be careful in the dark that thing that you

1:02:45

hear look underneath the bed check the closet because i'll be there.

1:02:52

Come Halloween Havoc, there are 12 matches. Which one will it be? Huh?

1:02:58

Which one will it be? It'll be your last.

1:03:02

All right, ladies and gentlemen, let's go back up to Rhubarb.

1:03:05

Jake will be with us on this contest. But now back up to Rhubarb Joe.

1:03:09

I don't remember which promo it was that Jake cut, but Ian Riccoboni posted

1:03:13

it in Facebook group. He's like, man, Jake terrified me as a kid.

1:03:17

And he's much younger than us. But so he was young when Jake was cutting these promos.

1:03:23

And if you're a kid, I think you would be terrified by Jake as bad as he is as being a human being.

1:03:30

You can understand why people kept giving him chances because he talks people into the building.

1:03:35

That was another solid Jake promo. Crocker, what did you think?

1:03:39

Yeah, it definitely was. And I was just thinking here as I was watching,

1:03:43

like, this is the second Jake promo. There was one during the control center

1:03:46

and the fact that they spoiled the tag team.

1:03:50

I'm guessing that they probably this is that control center was meant for Sunday

1:03:53

and maybe the one that airs on Sunday was meant for Saturday.

1:03:57

So you can get the kind of back to back Jake promos. That's probably what happened

1:04:01

is that they just transposed the control centers.

1:04:04

And like, that's what I figure happened there. Yeah.

1:04:07

Before the control center that aired this week, they originally intended to air next week.

1:04:13

Yeah. Right. But I can see what you're saying on the Sunday show, too.

1:04:17

It's a mistake they shouldn't have made. But I'm with you. That would make sense.

1:04:22

Yeah, for real, dude. How do you fuck up shit like that?

1:04:24

Because Bill Watts was worried about top rope rules and so much other stuff.

1:04:31

But they've always made fucking mistakes like that. I know.

1:04:35

Yeah, you can't pin that on Watts. watts i'm poking fun because because it's

1:04:41

watts right but he's made uh made errors in that way i mean spelling names and

1:04:47

and locations wrong is one thing but,

1:04:52

spoiling the main event of your own show the same show that's kind of that's a whole new level,

1:04:58

oh man all right well we got the barbarian versus rick bravo here in this next

1:05:04

match Jake is on commentary for this one. He's talking about the barbarian. He says where he heard Ron Simmons earlier

1:05:10

say that where he is from, he had to fight to eat.

1:05:13

Well, where a barbarian is from, he fights and then he eats what he fought,

1:05:16

which I thought was great. It's just a way of life for him. And then Jake talks about the release he will

1:05:22

sign next week for the spin the wheel, make the deal match.

1:05:25

And WCW doesn't want to be held responsible for what happens to Jake and Sting.

1:05:29

And that's why they will sign those releases. let me go to you crockett anything

1:05:33

from the commentary or the big boot from barbarian no yeah it was another another

1:05:38

quick one big boot i like this this line from jake he says if he had simon with

1:05:44

that simmons with that big boot his whole family will fall down.

1:05:50

Yeah jake jake wasn't bad on commentary it was short though it was only like

1:05:53

two minutes yeah it's a shame he didn't really get a chance to manage and fucking aew and just really,

1:06:00

flexes you know his muscle doing promos didn't he I mean he never really did anything though did he.

1:06:10

Know he was managing for a while there was

1:06:14

a time period where they just brought in all these legends to to

1:06:17

manage people you had jake you had toby blanchard

1:06:22

all right yeah jack victory no he

1:06:26

was there yeah remember no he wasn't he's

1:06:29

not made w jack victory was

1:06:32

not made w you know what i don't watch it google what

1:06:35

i i feel confident that he was not there okay

1:06:39

paul this time he's he's always

1:06:42

trying to be funny no i just don't i don't remember how good his run was i know

1:06:48

jake managed lance archer i saw him cut a couple of promos but yeah that was

1:06:54

it i don't know what they did with i feel like they kind of wasted tully and

1:06:59

arn oh yeah i think they wasted more More than that, bro.

1:07:03

Of course. We're going to be known as the AEW haters pod, even though we don't

1:07:08

cover AEW. We just tell people to watch it.

1:07:10

All right. Well, hey, this next clip, I'm not going to play the audio,

1:07:14

but I'm going to hit play where we can watch it. Jim Ross throws to Cactus Jack and Barbarian having a training segment.

1:07:21

And Barbarian is pulling a pickup truck.

1:07:24

And Cactus says something about, I'm not a manager, I'm a motivator.

1:07:30

Know i guess it's kind of cool to see things like

1:07:33

this uh it didn't seem too impactful what

1:07:36

did you think about this crocket yeah i think cactus

1:07:39

with barbarian it's a fun pairing it definitely adds new

1:07:43

layers to barbarian who's you know doesn't promo so i think anything that cactus

1:07:48

can do to help the barbarian because he's gonna go for the world title like

1:07:53

that's a good thing and yeah it was a yeah it's an interesting segment to kind

1:07:56

of put a little more heat on on the match coming up at Halloween Havoc?

1:08:01

Harper, I thought they showed the full pickup truck, but I guess we're not going

1:08:04

to see it. They do very briefly. Let's see.

1:08:07

Okay. Did we pass it up? I think it's a Chevrolet. Is this the one you were

1:08:12

going to buy in high school? Here it is, Harper. It's a Chevrolet.

1:08:19

Silverado. We kind of saw it right there. All we see is the front of it, though.

1:08:25

It's funny how he how he was running so fast and when they

1:08:27

finally do the wide shot it's he's pushing pulling very

1:08:30

slowly it looks like that old fucking commercial like

1:08:34

a rock commercial yes

1:08:38

strong as i can be like a

1:08:42

rock he didn't even charge

1:08:45

them for that commercial uh what's

1:08:48

his name bob seger what kind of capitalist is

1:08:51

he well because he's he's he's he's

1:08:55

from that area so he figured if

1:08:58

you're helping my people it just helps my people

1:09:01

who who are working in the auto industry then you know y'all can have it for

1:09:07

free i support y'all all right that's fair yeah that you just know that might

1:09:13

never happen nowadays no you're not how much money they probably made off that

1:09:18

That goddamn commercial. I haven't seen that commercial in 35 years. And I still fucking know it.

1:09:26

One of those things that's just ingrained in you see my

1:09:29

my dad was a chevy guy like he

1:09:32

he he if it

1:09:35

wasn't silverado or gm

1:09:38

sierra like he drove so many

1:09:42

of those he was a service he

1:09:45

was a service manager for many years so it

1:09:48

was to the point where he worked at this dealership so long they would give

1:09:51

him one to take home and i mean that's what he drove like i i remember going

1:09:57

over there on weekends and it was always in one of those he used to all and

1:10:00

he would he swore by it he was like he's like never buy an f-150 you always

1:10:04

get a silverado if you're gonna get a truck like trucks to fucking hold up man

1:10:09

i know man i know what

1:10:13

were you saying crockett your dad was us too so yeah my dad actually

1:10:16

has a 1955 chevy bel-air

1:10:19

oh no shit that's jesus it's rotting in the garage right now oh harbour wants

1:10:26

it he's gonna restore it with the five hundred thousand dollars of fifty thousand

1:10:32

a month he makes off this podcast that's my guy.

1:10:38

Oh man but uh yeah harbour harbour would love to restore that thing,

1:10:44

a 67 thunderbird and it was the same way it just rot away in the backyard and

1:10:51

i used to sit it and pull all the little switches and turn on turn all the knobs

1:10:56

yeah as soon as he died my mom was like Like, throw this shit away.

1:11:01

Yeah. Dude, the most amazing thing when you get in one of those trucks from

1:11:05

the 80s or even early 90s, mid 90s, is the amount.

1:11:11

Like, you get in a car nowadays, it's like being in a cockpit of a plane.

1:11:15

Back then, it was so simple.

1:11:19

I miss those bitch seats, bro. Yeah.

1:11:23

Fucking bitch seats. Big bucket seats. Yeah. Yeah. Could you just fucking sit there and chill, bruh?

1:11:31

I don't know, man. Like, I don't... Dude, I would take a car with a fucking

1:11:36

bench seat seven days a week. Okay, I thought you meant... So, if it was a truck...

1:11:42

Because, I mean, like... The trucks now the front seat i mean most of some of them

1:11:47

still have a bench seat you can get them sometimes with a bench seat but most of

1:11:51

them are you know bucket but they're they're pretty damn comfortable as i say

1:11:55

that it's it's a nice seat that you're sitting in like you could just sit there

1:12:00

and spread out just in all the room in the world what you're doing in the front

1:12:06

seat of that That's Silverado. Oh, you're taking the broad with the fake memory glands out of Kenny's Key West.

1:12:16

And you're Jabba Jaws. Oh, Jabba Jaws.

1:12:22

Yeah, that's still there. It's changed names about 50, 50 million times.

1:12:29

Crockett did tell me he was going to get the Jabba Jaws tonight.

1:12:32

I didn't think that would be the moment. Jesus. Jesus, Lord. Jabba Jaws. Remember that cartoon?

1:12:40

Oh, yeah. The guy, it's just a blatant ripoff of Curly from the Three Stages. Yeah.

1:12:46

Good, too, man. But, yeah, man, if I could find, I honestly would buy,

1:12:52

if it was a truck from, like, the early 90s, mid-90s hopper,

1:12:54

and it was in good shape, I think I'd buy one just to have it.

1:12:58

Dude, for real. I remember having, I had an 88.

1:13:02

And it looked just like the Fall Guys truck. truck. It was the same color pattern.

1:13:07

And the thing is, with those trucks, the inside of it was just so huge that

1:13:14

you were so far away from the dashboard to where the radio...

1:13:22

The tape deck or whatever the fuck would be like in the middle and the radio

1:13:26

would be kind of by the steering wheel because it's so far away just reach and

1:13:33

just fucking keep hitting the buttons, because i'm the unknown stuntman,

1:13:40

so i'm the unknown stuntman well speaking of uh i don't remember that school

1:13:47

but i taught ladies It is plenty.

1:13:55

All right. Speaking of guys who look like they might drive trucks,

1:13:59

we got Barry Windham, Dustin Rhodes versus Terry Gordy and Steve, Dr.

1:14:05

Death Williams for the WCW and NWA world tag team titles here.

1:14:10

Now it's going to win this one. We were spoiled earlier and given the results, but if we're going to be real here,

1:14:17

this this is four big bastards

1:14:21

going at it and they pulling punches i

1:14:24

saw several live rounds fly they started

1:14:29

this with over 30 minutes of tv time minus commercials left and they gave them

1:14:34

all the time in the world to tell a story and the early part of the match the

1:14:38

faces are in control and gordy is bumping all over the place this was excellent

1:14:44

got a few time stamps the first one I have comes at $102.55,

1:14:48

but Crockett, I guess I want to throw to you, see what you might have first.

1:14:54

The baby faces are on top that they're shine for like a good 10,

1:14:59

15 minutes before, before a cutoff comes just working that arm all over the place.

1:15:04

But yeah, it's like you said, 30 minutes, I'm looking like 30 minutes.

1:15:09

That's without commercials, 30 minutes left.

1:15:12

So this is like 45, 50 minutes of, of showtime for this match.

1:15:17

And yeah, I mean, it's a little slow in the beginning, but it, it definitely picks up.

1:15:23

There's like two heats and I like the cutoff finally when it kind of teases

1:15:30

the finish where Barry goes for the superplex, but Gordy pushes him off the

1:15:34

ropes onto the floor. So that's how they get into that.

1:15:38

Yeah, the two heats were good. There was the gut wrench by Barry onto Gordy,

1:15:43

which is Gordy's a big bastard. But I had the same thing you did. the heels it

1:15:48

took a while but eventually they they finally

1:15:51

get on top of the baby faces it just it didn't

1:15:55

happen overnight it was a little slow at times but they got after it so much

1:16:00

that it was like all right well now we're good there's a there's a power slam

1:16:06

coming up right here dr death first just big old shoulder attack on barry and

1:16:10

then he's gonna power slam. Windham after he charges dustin who's

1:16:15

on the apron yeah i had something on that spot right there that pet

1:16:18

peeve of mine if you want to just reverse back to 109

1:16:21

58 where they you

1:16:24

whip a guy into the side of the ring where where his partner is and dustin was

1:16:30

like almost right there and could have tagged but walked back over to the corner

1:16:34

it's like yeah don't whip him to the side where the guy is standing because

1:16:38

it makes kind of like babyface look stupid just to not tag him there but,

1:16:43

it's just still a pet peeve of mine why are you talking about it like it's real shut up rocket.

1:16:50

But it's true Celtics fucking beat the fucking Charlotte Hornets or something

1:16:56

okay oh come on Harper we had this discussion we had this discussion last time why,

1:17:05

I will say this I liked how Gordy and Doc cut the ring off they went real old

1:17:12

school like they And those WCW rings are small.

1:17:15

So it's not easy to cut the ring off like you could in a WWF ring.

1:17:18

So I thought that was cool. To your point, we did have the hot tag where Barry is taking the heat.

1:17:25

And he eventually makes a hot tag to Dustin. Dustin comes in and he's going at it.

1:17:29

And then eventually they get back on top of Dustin. So now we're going to have two spots like that.

1:17:36

There is a pile driver coming up right around here.

1:17:40

I think it's Dr. Death gives it to Dustin. And I was like, oh,

1:17:44

my God, there's a hot shot. And then he's going to hit him on a pile driver.

1:17:49

That's right. It's Gordy who gives a pile driver, but it's followed by a lariat

1:17:52

after Dustin kicked out. Here it comes, I believe.

1:17:57

It's just I want to emphasize it because, like, they were just.

1:18:03

God that that looked like it hurt man and it

1:18:06

and by the way just he doesn't kick out of the pile driver he gets

1:18:09

his foot on the road leg up yep good point

1:18:12

all right crocker before i go to the finish any other

1:18:15

thoughts no let's get to the finish all right

1:18:18

so we go to the finish dustin is gonna catch dr death in

1:18:21

a suplex and then he's gonna

1:18:24

make the hot tag to windham barry comes

1:18:27

in him with a hell of a lariat to gordy but eventually they

1:18:31

double team barry windham gordy goes to

1:18:34

the top rope but windham recovers and superplexes gordy

1:18:37

off the top dr death breaks up the pin before we know it all four guys are in

1:18:42

the ring and they are going at it dustin's going to hit gordy with a bulldog

1:18:47

while the ref's back is turned windham then is going to pin gordy and And just

1:18:52

as we knew it was coming because it was spoiled earlier,

1:18:55

we have new WCW and NWA World Tag Team Champions that we were told about earlier in the show.

1:19:02

But I guess it's cool because we did see the full match and got all of it,

1:19:07

not just some highlights of it. So I'm not going to complain too much.

1:19:11

Crockett, your thoughts on the finish? And then I got some stuff about what's

1:19:15

going on here and why they lost this match. Yeah, it's a good finish. I mean, like, like I mentioned with the,

1:19:20

um, the cutoff, Barry, when he goes to the floor and then doc,

1:19:25

while the ref is back, has turned the doc, doc hits him with the Lariat on the floor.

1:19:28

So it's kind of a tit for tat thing where Barry goes and finally hits a super flex here.

1:19:33

And then while the ref is getting Williams out of the ring, that's when Dustin

1:19:39

comes behind the rest back and hits the bulldog. So it was kind of like, you know, a tit for tat kind of thing.

1:19:43

And they end up winning the match.

1:19:47

The hopper any thoughts on the finish as you're

1:19:50

watching it here too much they fucking ruined it

1:19:53

i mean what do you consider it's like hey

1:19:56

you know at empire strikes back you find out that the dark

1:19:58

vader is his dad thanks for fucking ruining it asshole yeah

1:20:04

it's kind of unfortunate that's how it goes down right that they say that who's

1:20:11

booking this shit well it wasn't the book as much as it's the production yeah

1:20:17

i hope uh bill watts handed out some hefty fines to the,

1:20:22

that's that was my point like when

1:20:25

i was saying he's all worried about the wrestlers and what they're doing and

1:20:29

all this stuff and i hope you taking that keeping that same energy with whoever

1:20:37

messed up the production of this and to your point they've done this before

1:20:41

the watts It's not like it happened because it was his leadership.

1:20:45

But yeah, why don't you jump on somebody's back and leave your wrestlers alone

1:20:49

is I guess what I'm looking to say here.

1:20:52

So this is Gordy's last Saturday night match.

1:20:57

Williams will have a couple more before he's he's done.

1:21:02

Now, I went ahead and I was looking up the timeline of this because I just didn't

1:21:07

remember off the top of my head, obviously, getting old.

1:21:10

So as we know, they come in to the promotion in 92.

1:21:17

I think, Crockett, were you doing the shows with me? Was Doc out at the time when they first came in?

1:21:23

Yeah, I did the NWA tournament with you, and they just kind of come in.

1:21:28

Where william says that

1:21:31

unfortunate word during his promo yeah yeah okay

1:21:36

so i was trying to trying to remember exactly so they come

1:21:39

in they win the world wcw world tag titles then they win the nwa world tag titles

1:21:45

when they have the tournament i think the final was at the bash or something

1:21:48

like that or the finals of the nwa tournament was at the bash and then the next

1:21:52

week they won them won the WCW titles. I can't remember. Maybe I'll get the order confused.

1:21:57

So they feuded with the Steiner brothers, which in Japan was them feuding with

1:22:05

the Steiners was hyped as a few between the best foreign teams of the two top Japanese promotions.

1:22:11

So the Steiners were with new Japan and at that time, and then Gordian Williams,

1:22:19

I think we're with all Japan. And in despite advances by New Japan, Gordy and Williams had loyalty to All

1:22:28

Japan Pro Wrestling founder Giant Baba. They refused to compete for New Japan, which New Japan had business ties with WCW at the time.

1:22:39

So that's what actually leads to Gordy leaving. And why you see this title change

1:22:45

at this point before Halloween Havoc and eventually Dr.

1:22:52

Death is gone shortly after Starrcade.

1:22:55

So that's the mess that happened here.

1:22:58

It would be easy to blame someone in WCW, but.

1:23:05

Think you really can while at the same time maybe you would say well why did

1:23:08

you bring him in if you didn't have that squared away from the get-go but it

1:23:12

is pro wrestling so that's kind of how it works but that's the mess that occurred

1:23:17

and why we end up in this situation where,

1:23:20

not that dustin and barry aren't worthy but

1:23:23

they never got anything out of gordy

1:23:26

and williams would you agree harper no well they

1:23:30

don't get too much out of fucking anyone

1:23:33

one yeah this

1:23:37

is unfortunate here that you're you're paused here it's in the the eric watts

1:23:42

and dustin rhodes it's it looks like something more is happening here than okay

1:23:47

let me let me advance it a little i was gonna play the promo yeah what are you

1:23:52

come on i'm out this amount bro. Worth of hard body harper from several years ago but let

1:23:59

me go to your thoughts crocker do you have have any thoughts about them

1:24:02

losing the belts the whole all japan new japan thing

1:24:06

and i think i got it right if i didn't send

1:24:08

that email to chris hopper 16 at wow wow

1:24:12

wow cat at gmail.com i think it is

1:24:14

uh any thoughts crockett no yeah

1:24:17

i mean i didn't know i didn't know that deal anyway with all japan new japan

1:24:22

but we're about to lose a couple of uh top tag teams here in wcw i think think

1:24:27

rick steiner's gonna be injured very soon and their contract's about to come

1:24:32

up and i think i think they're they're gone i think we might have seen the last

1:24:35

steiner's tag team match, oh shit it happens right now i think so

1:24:40

yeah i forgot about that yeah they go to wwe

1:24:44

and yeah and just like they start doing like

1:24:47

scott steiner singles thing yeah that

1:24:51

doesn't last very long and then they're gone because i think they at this point

1:24:54

they only have like a couple of months left in their contracts and i don't think

1:24:57

rick gets back in time gotcha okay so we lose doc and gordy and the steiners

1:25:04

that's great i mean four heavy hitters just poof,

1:25:10

but it really like i mean look it's october they came in in the summer with watts.

1:25:18

They it's it's kind of really messed up because they put them over so strong

1:25:22

like right away and And we knew who they were, so it's not that it's their fault.

1:25:27

Like, we didn't doubt that they shouldn't have won. It's just,

1:25:30

damn, you got nothing out of them in terms of, like, money-making feuds or pay-per-views.

1:25:38

Like, you just didn't. There was no payoff.

1:25:42

They come in, they dominate, and then they lose, and they're done.

1:25:47

And by the way, spoiler alert, fast forward about 30 seconds if you don't want

1:25:51

to hear this. the team that they just lost to ain't even going to have the belts that long.

1:25:56

They're just transition champions, essentially, in a way.

1:26:00

It's unfortunate because Gordy and Williams are so good, but you got nothing out of them.

1:26:07

You got a few months out of them. And then they weren't even here for a lot

1:26:10

of the time. So it's, eh, whatever. What can you do? That's bullshit.

1:26:15

I can't even think of who are the other heel tag teams. Is this when the Hollywood Blondes come in?

1:26:20

Well, yeah. You're going to have, we're still months away from Austin.

1:26:25

We're not far away, but we still got some time before Austin and Pillman.

1:26:29

Who are the heel tag teams at this point if those guys are good? State Patrol.

1:26:37

I don't even think that's true. It's just Buddy Lee around now.

1:26:42

You can tell they don't have much of a plan because of what's going to happen with Dustin and Barry.

1:26:48

You can tell it's in disarray in terms of tags. And you say,

1:26:54

well, who's the heel tag teams? It's funny because you got Arne Anderson and Bobby Eaton, and they just treat them like piss. Right.

1:27:04

So we got people we could do something with. It's just Bill Watts wrestling Jesus.

1:27:11

Anyway. All right. So let's go. We're going to play a promo.

1:27:15

This is how the show will go off air. This is after Dustin and Barry win the titles. Here it is.

1:27:20

Music.

1:27:20

Stage we've got new world tag team champions

1:27:23

this crowd took the rip off of it Barry Windham holding

1:27:26

all the gold but it was Dustin Rhodes and that bulldog

1:27:29

Dustin what a move man what a move on Terry Gordy and Gemma I'm just excited

1:27:34

it's the greatest day of my life you know it's the greatest day of my life and

1:27:38

we couldn't have done it you know we trained real hard and now we finally did

1:27:42

it we conquered what we set out to do and I'm just happy man well Barry you're

1:27:45

there you're the the experienced man on the team, Barry Windham.

1:27:48

What are your thoughts right now, Barry Windham? What a move this kid made,

1:27:51

and it brought you guys a championship. I knew that we could do it.

1:27:55

Dustin and I studied these guys and watched them day and night.

1:27:58

I spent a lot of hours watching films of these guys after the loss that we suffered

1:28:04

in number four when we didn't win the championship. I knew that if I got the superplex in there, I knew that we could win these belts.

1:28:11

Music.

1:28:17

Barry Windham carrying all the gold. What a... It's unfortunate that they spoiled

1:28:21

it earlier in the show, but that was a pretty good promo.

1:28:26

I mean, I don't blame these guys at all. It's not their fault, obviously.

1:28:30

But, you know, what can you do, right? Right. Yeah.

1:28:34

Has Eric had his first match yet on TV? I don't think so.

1:28:38

No, not yet. It's coming up, huh? God help me.

1:28:43

Waiting with bated breath. Oh, the nepotism.

1:28:47

Oh, it's like he's cut a couple of two promos or one, I think one so far. Yeah.

1:28:56

So anyway, we need to hand out, we need to rate it, hand out the toot toot award for the week.

1:29:02

Before we do so, remember the only way to listen to Halloween Havoc that's coming

1:29:06

up is by going to tinyurl.com slash Patreon BTT.

1:29:09

That is tinyurl.com slash Patreon BTT. Also, while I have Crockett here,

1:29:14

let me plug the fact that he and I did a patron show revisiting the Herb Abrams

1:29:19

Dark Side of the Ring episode from several years ago.

1:29:22

We actually did it as a live stream. It was a lot of fun.

1:29:24

We got some good stuff in and thoroughly enjoyed it.

1:29:27

So check that out as well on Patreon at tinyworld.com. So it's Patreon BTT.

1:29:33

You know, you're standing in for Doc today, Crockett. So what are you going

1:29:38

to rate it? Oh, man. It's just...

1:29:42

The faux pas and the control center just kind of takes everything down a couple of notches.

1:29:49

First of all, this seems like I've been hearing you guys doing shows.

1:29:53

Oh, this one's 32 minutes. This one's 41 minutes. This is the full two hour show.

1:29:57

So that takes it down at least cold percentage points. Yeah.

1:30:03

The Crockett curve strikes again.

1:30:10

I can't really, i can't argue with that so

1:30:14

i mean you get a couple matches here a lot of quick squashes

1:30:17

that of course the main event

1:30:20

is a decent match tainted by what happened

1:30:23

during the control center i'll say b yeah i'm gonna give it a see i don't want

1:30:31

i always say this with doc and harper i don't i don't like penalizing the wrestlers

1:30:37

for the faux pas that the promotion makes and sometimes those things kind of

1:30:41

blend together in this instance. If we wouldn't have had that mess up, we'd probably give this an A or an A+,

1:30:50

but I'm going to give it an A-, but it's on the border of a B+.

1:30:57

Yeah, because there was a lot of good stuff in this.

1:31:01

The whole mess up was just, it really taints the whole thing.

1:31:08

But I'm going to give it an A-, Harper, what about you? you it's a c bro because

1:31:12

i don't i don't reward bad behavior,

1:31:16

octa they can get no goddamn beat you think just because you showed up gotta

1:31:22

respect it yeah no participation trophies for hopper's kids.

1:31:30

All right fair enough so then we need to hand out the toot toot award Crockett,

1:31:36

who are you giving yours to? By the way, you can give it to a match, a tag team. It doesn't have to be just one person.

1:31:45

Well, you got to reverse to toot for the production team, of course,

1:31:49

for that fucking unforgivable error.

1:31:54

I mean, I guess I'll, I'll give it to the, to the main event is a good match. They had plenty of time.

1:32:01

But I don't know. I'm just, I'm not, I'm not overwhelmed with joy for any of these.

1:32:08

I can't really pick out something that's stands out like head and shoulders

1:32:12

about the rest. So I'll just say the main event.

1:32:14

Yeah. I'm gonna give it to Barry and Dustin. It's not their fault.

1:32:17

Production did a reverse to toot for the week and gave the results away.

1:32:23

So Barry and Dustin can get it from me. Harvard. What about you?

1:32:26

Oh because at least dr death and and igor to get the fucking leave right so,

1:32:35

yeah so i'm giving it to barry and dustin

1:32:39

we're sticking with it man do you at all blame watts for either of you blame

1:32:46

watts for maybe not trying to figure it out beforehand so that they wouldn't

1:32:51

have been in this situation where he's got to pull the belts off these guys

1:32:54

I would have done some yes,

1:32:58

I think yeah Japan.

1:33:04

Well he knew they had obligations I'm just talking about just squaring it away

1:33:09

simply from a point of look you know you got these obligations but we're going

1:33:14

to put the belts on you we need reassurance that,

1:33:19

we're going to get X amount of time from you with the belt we've already got

1:33:24

this working arrangement with New Japan we understand you,

1:33:28

that's what I'm saying I feel like more due diligence needed to be done before

1:33:35

they were before he comes and brings them in and throws the belts on them we've

1:33:40

had problems with that a fucking while oh I can't make it that super good shit star wrestling,

1:33:48

you're a champion I can't make it well then fuck you get your phone number.

1:33:54

Why you gotta watch who you put belts on if if

1:33:58

they have obligations to other uh that's my

1:34:01

point like that's what i'm saying i'm a little bit

1:34:04

more lenient on on an independent standpoint because

1:34:07

like it's just a different animal but right but

1:34:12

with this i feel like he yeah

1:34:15

i just i just feel like with this

1:34:18

he needed to i don't know man look i

1:34:20

know it's complicated they have this working an arrangement with other

1:34:23

promote with another promotion but the guys are loyal

1:34:26

to another promotion in japan and it's just

1:34:30

very complicated and i feel like watts should

1:34:33

have i don't want to put the blame just on watts but did these guys even have

1:34:39

a contract i don't know how that whole thing works like were these guys under

1:34:45

contract here i don't know their specifications on and And their Japanese contract,

1:34:51

I could tell you who they were working for and I could, you know,

1:34:54

which we talked about during the show. But again, that's just one of that's that's my point. That's making my point.

1:35:02

If you know, like you got a man, these wrestling organizations,

1:35:08

none of them are perfect. But if you're going to do what you did with those two guys, put the WCW and

1:35:16

under NWA tag belts on them both.

1:35:20

You better have it airtight,

1:35:23

brother, in terms of what you're going to do with them,

1:35:28

who you're going to put them with, who's going to eventually go over on them,

1:35:32

and it not be a three-and-a-half-month thing where they barely defended the titles in WCW.

1:35:41

The tag, the NWA belt, were they going to what was left of the NWA? No.

1:35:48

No no no I mean there's the NWA is a shell at this point like like fucking back then no.

1:36:02

Working shows like i mean they went back to japan but i

1:36:05

mean like there's no they ain't making no circuit around

1:36:08

the territories the nwa is there's only

1:36:11

a name i'm gonna piss people off i think it's only a

1:36:13

name at this point it's this it's a

1:36:17

brand it's it's not a company or or it's

1:36:21

not a brewery it's like what pat's blue ribbon is

1:36:24

yeah there is no pat's blue ribbon brewery

1:36:28

yeah it's just a brand and someone else

1:36:31

fucking makes the beer put the sticker on

1:36:34

it yeah so i just

1:36:37

think like i'm not trying to put it all on watts but at some

1:36:40

point you have to you can't make

1:36:43

this move to put these belts on these dudes if you

1:36:46

don't have a solid plan and know for

1:36:49

a fact of what's going to happen now you know

1:36:52

how wrestling is guys can say you

1:36:55

know no no bill it's no problem you know know we're good

1:36:59

and you know and bill's taking their word for it

1:37:01

that's what i'm saying i'm not trying to blame watts completely but i

1:37:05

just think it's a big mistake to do it the way they

1:37:07

did it because they got nothing out of i don't say they got

1:37:10

nothing but they didn't get much out of dr death is all i'm saying

1:37:13

and steiner's all right.

1:37:16

Well on that on that you know we're almost done here crockett thanks again for

1:37:22

doing the show you're back with us next week but before we get get out of here

1:37:25

you got anything you want to plug got anything you want to add now's your time

1:37:30

this is this is you this is your me time as you told us when you did the shows with us last summer.

1:37:36

No man thank you for having me i know like you know

1:37:38

you doc and harper you guys are the the free birds

1:37:42

of wrestling podcasts and you know

1:37:44

happy that uh jimmy jam shows up every once in

1:37:47

in a while so thanks for having me yeah yeah yeah i was trying to look up the

1:37:53

tournament as as i was i was putting this in but i can't seem to find it so

1:37:59

nwa tag who was he shooting the promo i think it was on wahoo,

1:38:06

man. That's way back. Oh, you mean in like the mid-80s? I said, what are you...

1:38:13

Uh... That's a good question. No.

1:38:21

By the way, so they were here before Watts. I was just double-checking.

1:38:28

So it's kind of unfair to put this on them, on Watts. I'm sure Watts is blaming

1:38:33

the previous administration. Of course he does.

1:38:36

It's always somebody else's fault like come on you know that,

1:38:44

it's always somebody else's fault but yeah I was trying to find so they beat

1:38:50

the Steiners in the second round, and I was trying to find Rhodes and Wyndham

1:38:57

I think is who

1:39:00

they beat but I couldn't remember he did reference

1:39:04

in the promo Barry did about uh listening to

1:39:08

that before i think that's who they beat i'm not

1:39:11

100 positive but yeah so anyway

1:39:14

um again if i got that wrong dm hopper

1:39:17

he loves hearing from our wonderful listeners he he loves it he loves it with

1:39:21

a passion he he does the javorski when our listeners reach out to him anyway

1:39:27

on that note we're gonna get out of here hopper you got anything for i have

1:39:30

you hit the tagline see you next week crockett we'll do this again hopper let's roll role.

1:39:38

Music.
