You don't have to go at this alone. Entrepreneurs really need sounding boards, which can come in many shapes and sizes. Coaching, mastermind groups, trusted partners and other mentor environments are critical to your success. When I started my firm in 2009, I created a personal board of directors, which included several professionals that I respected and knew could help me grow. I asked them to donate time to help me succeed. I was respectful of their time and set clear expectations. It was incredibly helpful and I never received a single no. The truth be told, people want to see you succeed. They may try and derail you, but their intentions aren't sabotage you, but protect you. In the end, your success is their success if they are helping guide you to the finish line.
