Detective Sergeant Dave Wise speaks to the Daily Echo outside Winchester Crown Court following the sentencing of Damien Sean Johnson, Hayden Johnson and Dominic Macdonald on Friday, July 15.

The trio admitted the manslaughter of 56-year-old Michael Bastable. The three defendants also admitted charges of robbery relating to the incident involving Mr Bastable on Friday 14 January 2022 and a second incident on Wednesday 19 January 2022. Damien and Hayden Johnson both also entered guilty pleas to a third robbery on Friday 21 January 2022.

Damien, aged 31 and of Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, and Hayden Johnson, aged 29 and also of Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, were sentenced to 22 years in prison, with an extended licence period of a further three years, and Macdonald, aged 30 and of St John’s Road, Bournemouth, was given an 18-year jail term.
