In this episode, we welcomed our first guest to the podcast, Louis Byrd. Louis is an electrical engineer turned principal consultant and cultural brand strategist leading day-to-day operations at Mellie Blue. I first met Louis via LinkedIn. I liked a comment he had posted on a discussion, which led me to check out his profile. It turned out, we had a lot in common, so I reached out to connect. We quickly set up a video chat and the following week we were recording this episode of the Brand Experience Podcast!

About Louis Byrd

An electrical engineer turned principal consultant and cultural brand strategist, Louis Byrd runs the day-to-day operations at Mellie Blue, a cross-cultural brand consultancy that helps engineering and technology firms operationalize their brand systems with cultural competence and intelligence.

Feeding on the fundamental idea of being more human—Louis believes business leaders have to reframe how they think about diversity as it relates to their business. He operates from three guiding principles:

  1. Increasing diversity in the corporate setting is not the greatest challenge—fully integrating, engaging, and empowering people from diverse backgrounds is.

  2. Your brand is your business and not a function of marketing.

  3. Nothing endures but change.

Combining these principles has allowed Louis to help business leaders realign their brand and repurpose how they incorporate inclusion throughout their organization.  He has demonstrated expertise in improving business processes and serving as a change agent for his clients.
