I am so excited to have you here today. Hello. I am super excited to be here and thank you so much. You are so very welcome. I am absolutely loving the fact that we are both dressed in our leopard print today It is a testament to our personal styles and also you our friendship Totally two peas in a pod. I love it. Absolutely love it When we turned up today I'm like, Oh my God! Great minds think alike, 100% awesome. Well, we're here today to talk all about bravery in business. And I've known you a while, and I know that you've done some incredibly brave things in your business. So I'm really looking forward to exploring that in today's episode. But before we dive into the media questions and we start talking about those brave moments, I would love for you to tell me a little bit about your business and how you got to where you are today. So a little bit about my business. Well, my business is about creating communities of women where we uplift each other. We inspire, we motivate, and we really offer each other support. And we do this through workshops by playing the game. Some people choose to one on ones, so my business now has grown to a lot of workshops. Actually, that's what I really am passionate about women coming together and trusting one another again when we have been very hurt by something that's happened to us in our life. I suppose where it all started was I was married for 17 years, and then we were divorced in 2002, and I think that just sent my whole life on a whole new direction. So I think in doing that, I started to develop personal development books and enrich my life with that and realised that I did have control in my life. I mean, I know one of the NLP practitioners that I went to, she was absolutely hilarious Big. She smoked a pen. She had the queen at the back of her. She was absolutely. She changed my life so much. And she really gave me all the tools to move forward and that I I had the power within to change everything I remember. She said to me, You created that I create anything. So I actually think she gave me the confidence to was down such a rabbit hole. It really sent me that. I sent me a message that I could create anything that I wanted. So I suppose that's where my business really did start because I went and certified myself as a Louise Hay trainer, which I really enjoyed. And then, you know, he's on the journey and you well, some people choose to learn more so that they can see people one on one. And then I started to create my own courses, how to be a queen and have a king. Unless your intuition. And then I successfully had those up and running, which was lots of fun. And I really enjoyed giving back all the beautiful knowledge that I had to learn with my own flavour. I think what happens is you know you'll get so much and then you'll have your own your own take on what's going to enrich someone's life. So I suppose that's where it will be done and what my business actually does now. It actually brings women together in a safe environment so that we can all learn and grow together and support one another. Absolutely. I love that Angie, and as a member of your community, everything that you said there is 100% true. And I really love the way that in that community that you create, the women really do feel safe to come along and share their experiences and to dive deep into their intuition, which I think is one of the real magical things about the find your blame game. Oh yeah, yeah, about the game. Absolutely. The game is definitely so that you can get clarity and direction and reconnect with that intuition because as women we all know those moments that we know we're doing the wrong thing, but for some bizarre reason, we just walk on into it. We don't go the other way. You ask any woman she'll say. I knew my America's over five years ago, but I didn't have the confidence to leave. I didn't have the money to leave. I didn't have the the know how to me. I didn't feel I had the support to leave. And you know, when the scales do tip, you eventually just go. I'm going and it's almost like a three second decision, just like it was a three second decision walking into something you didn't think was going to be good for you. Whether that be a job, friendship, it could be anything. But we all know, I think, have those pivotal points in our life where I suppose it's like a fork in the road. I'm not quite sure. It's like a fork in the road and you know that you can go, I'll be. And sometimes you know it is the same for one that you take B. It's it's all interesting. I think you and I both from our discussions that we've had through both coaching and also our friendship, have acknowledged that both of us have been really good at ignoring red flags in the past. It's a bit of a journey to be able to get better acknowledging those red flags and actually listening to them. So I would love for you to tell us a little bit more about the find your bling game and how that came about. Because I know that when you first created it, it wasn't you know, you didn't do it with the plan of of, you know, having this amazing game that was available for the public. It was more or just a little treat for you and your girlfriends. Yes. So how it worked was I used to run in Canberra, a beautiful group called Diamond Club, and they were just the most awesome bunch of ladies, and we would get together and I would create things all the time. I am the queen of creating things, and they're never doing anything because I'm so high variety that that was lots of fun for a couple of months, and I pushed to the side along to the next new shiny thing. So in about 2000, and I think about 2008, 2009. I created this game. It was just a simple game and it was five decks of cards. The B l I N G. And they took you on a journey. And after a few months, as per usual, I put it away. And then in 2019, I was doing a Christmas party for the 2018, 2009. I can't remember which one it was two years ago and I was doing a Christmas party in barrel for the Diamond Club in Sydney and the Diamond Club in Canberra, and we all got together and someone said, Hey, could you get that game out that you made years ago? Now I will be honest. I couldn't even remember it. I was like, What was the game again? Like, I'm kind of curious and I sort of could remember, But you know how you didn't really know what you've done. So I went back to my computer, looked at when I had put in there, and then I thought, This is actually really exciting. This would be super fun the girls will love this at Christmas. So I made a game of 250 cards. I took it up, and at the end of the day, two of the ladies came up and said they'd like to buy it and I was like, Oh, my goodness, no, you can't just like I put this together for you So I went to my dear friend Kate, who has quick copy here in Sydney, and I asked her to print me up 30 games, and I extended the packs, the five decks to 80 cards each. And I just started playing the game with the dice, hiring venues, inviting people along. And we started that journey of the game. But over the year, it ended up being eight decks of cards, dice aboard it and ended up being a board game. Yes, so that was the journey of the game over 2019. And then I decided that I put it into production, and that has been a journey in itself. It's been a really big journey, but a good journey, you know, like it's been full of twists and turns, ups and downs learned a lot about myself. A lot. About what? When you're having a product. Yes. So? So that's now what the game has come to. Yeah. Awesome. And I guess, on the topic of bravery taking that step to actually manufacture the game to the scale that you have done. So today I can imagine that that would have been a really challenging decision and would have been something that took a lot of bravery from you. Can you tell us a bit more about that? Do you think you have to be brave in business, right? You would understand that because, you know, I'm a part of your ex besties, and, you know, you've given me a lot of confidence to keep going. I think I'm pretty good at actually jumping in and then swimming like crazy, and I think actually won. A few people were saying to me, This is not working out. You've just got to push it to the side. I actually think that maybe I thought that's a motivational speech. Thank you. I am not giving up. I'm not giving up. So I think sometimes it did look a little what It was deep, and I probably should have said this is enough, but I don't know. Something inside of me just knew that this game needed to go out, and it would really help women, you know, regain their trust within themselves and with other women because I had a lot of issues around, you know, not trusting women. And it actually really took me on a journey where I could trust myself again and, you know, invite really worthy women into my life. Amazing. I really love that. So if we were to look at, I guess your journey with bravery, do you think that manufacturing the game is the bravest thing that you've done in your business, or is there anything else that you'd want to highlight? I think it's the greatest thing ever. I think it's very brave to invest in something because you're the one backing it. I think that's always a really big journey. When you go, I'm going to back myself on this and it's a great it's a great feeling when you go, I'm going to invest this much. However, you end up investing a lot more, and I suppose it is important to get yourself a really good account so that you can know whether you are actually going down a rabbit hole and you need to get out or whether you can see clearly and you can see how you can get out of its like. I don't think everyone should just jump in. And, you know, this is my dream. And do it. I think you do need to gather as much information as you can get as much advice as you can and then, you know, jump in with both feet, not one big toe, just jump in and go for it. And you've really there are days when that I really wanted to give up. I felt defeated by what was going on. I was very disappointed by people around me what things had been done. I know I went through Alibaba, and this is my first time ever making a product. And when they asked me for more money around things, I would generously give it, and they turned out that they didn't hold their end of the bargain. So there's been a lot of things on this journey that have opened my eyes. So I really like what you said about making sure that you're doing the research and join your due diligence before actually diving in. I'm really interested in the concept of bravery but specifically bravery with intention. I think there's a lot of propaganda out there that tells you, you know, follow your bliss and and dive straight in and, you know, be brave and and and all of that And I think you know, some times we can be tempted to just be brave for the sake of bravery sake, whereas I think being intentional about those brave moments can give you so much deeper reward. If we were to think about brave in business, what does that mean to you? I like what you just said then that I think being brave in business is about making yourself as knowledgeable as possible about what you're doing. Because, you know, I employed someone to help me to procure this, and that was a journey in itself. I think that it's brave to do something like reaching out to other people and the skills that you don't have that you find someone that does have the skills that you have. Yeah, I think I think it's very important that you gather as much information as you can like. We did the best we absolutely can with the knowledge that we had in going through Alibaba choosing the factory that we chose. And we still actually ended up with quite a few problems along the journey, as in with delays, some of the stock was damaged, what you've paid insurance for, and then what it really didn't cover. You know, there are going to be listen turns in that journey that you didn't see coming, even though they have done the best you could. Yeah, sure. And that in itself is quite interesting, because when I think about bravery, I think about the fact that it's often tied to fear, and often it is that fear of failure or worried that things could potentially go wrong. So you've highlighted that as part of the manufacturing, in delivering of the game, that there were some issues. Do you want to give us some insight, maybe into what that felt like, You know, Did it feel like a failure? And how did you actually overcome that situation from a mindset and mental perspective? Well, I think first you have a few sleepless night which way is is going? I suppose I'd really encourage people to keep talking to people and that you're not alone. I know one of the best things I did was join your best best is and you know, the integrity of the women in there that you could actually reach out and some in business, like sometimes you don't need business support all the time. You need emotional support, and I think it's really important that you make sure that you have that because you're not always going to get that at home because the people at home are trying to protect you. So they're the ones that are going to be telling you. You need to give this up. Oh my God, you're thinking too much money into it. It's not working, And that's why it's important to have an account where you can say are my figures on track or off track, and how much more would I need to invest? And, you know, is this something that I do need to call it quits on now? Or should I keep going? You know, like what you were saying about before following your bliss? I don't I don't believe I have a dream and I should go chase it. I think it is really about going on that path of gathering as much information as you can keep going along in the defeated moments. You are going to have to dig so deep, and that's why it's really important to be emotionally attached to your your dream and what your vision is, because you really don't feel it is there you are going to give up. And the sad thing is, I think a lot of people actually give up when they're nearly there. That is so true. I've seen that happened so many times and, you know, and that is really sad, I guess, because maybe it would have just taken one more day of one more week or one last push to get there. So do you think it's important as business owners that we do step out of our comfort zone? And if so, why do you think that's so important? Yeah, I think it's very important. Business is uncomfortable. It's very uncomfortable. There are conversations you need to have that have to be had that you never knew how to have them before I think that again. It's very important to surround yourself with a group of people that really do believe you. You need a cheer group that are going to say, Keep going. Keep going. You've got this because you are going to You don't have a lot of doubt. Some days, some days you're just gonna go. Oh, my goodness. You know, I didn't expect to be sitting in a warehouse for five weeks after I received my game sorting out the issues that we had, You know, it's unpredictable. You're going to have to step out of your comfort zone because you're going to need to learn skills that you never had conversations that you never had, and you learn so much from it. You are going to grow so much from it. And it's actually very fulfilling, Like I look now at how many times I was told to give that up, and I now feel that I've left something for my Children. You know that when I am gone, they'll be able to play it and go. You know, this is what nanny and she thought was absolutely fab You. Yeah, well, it's a real legacy. You know, and I really believe that about the fund. Your blame game is that I mean, I look forward to seeing it being shared more throughout Australia, more globally. But I think hopefully one day find your bling will be a household name. Yeah, that would be absolutely fantastic. I absolutely love that. Yeah, I would encourage anyone. Just feel the fear and do it anyway. Just go for it and just surround yourself with great people. I think that's really important. One of the things that I'm very passionate about and something that I share with the bling babes a lot is you know, when you have a question reached out to three people that are very knowledgeable around that topic and pick their brains as much as you can, and then just go away and make your own decision. I think one of the biggest things in businesses don't just do something because someone said it. It needs to be your decision because you need to wear the fall if if it falls. Yeah, that's a really big thing with some really great advice. Is there any other advice that you would offer the business, women or business owners in general who are not currently going after their dreams because of fear. I think that's more on the case of Do your research. Don't just go on a feeling actually sit down with people, do some figures. I think sometimes I've seen people throw money into something without getting advice, and it's all fine to do that. If you want to do that, that's great. But it's much harder to than a dollar than it is to save a dollar. So you know, I'm very big on the do your best you can. They are going to be problems along the way, and some of those problems are costly. But as long as you have made the best educated, yes you can, you're going to feel good about doing it. You're actually in the early. I feel great about everything that I've achieved, you know, like so you know, I would encourage people to do the research. Make sure that after it give yourself a deadline that after one year, if I'm here or then and that can all change, you can keep everything flexible and just keep reassessing and have someone that you can talk to. I think having a business mentor has really helped me a lot. And I know you've been my business mentor back, but just having someone there for you when something does go wrong so that you can be heard and validated that tomorrow is going to be okay because I did not feel that a few times. Like I can't tell you when you're looking at the mess that there is. You're like, Oh my God, there's no way out. And it's amazing when you have someone that you can vent to that you have someone that can give you some solid knowledge. When you're feeling highly emotional that it's OK, it's all gonna be okay. And it does. It all unfolds perfectly. Absolutely. And you know, it has been my absolute honour to be able to support you through this. You know the latest stage of the process and to find your bling game. Honestly, like I look up to you so much energy and I think that you have exhibited so much incredible bravery through what you've done. I think it is a real inspiration, not just to me, but also your whole community of bling babes as well think, speculate. And I would just say to those sorts of things that just makes me, like, so warm. I can't tell you it's so great. But you really cannot do things alone, you know, And you really do need that community. And sometimes you're in a community that you think are supporting you, but they're not feeling so. I encourage average people also, that if your intuition is telling you that they this is not the space for you, it doesn't mean people aren't good people. It just means maybe they don't have the knowledge or they don't have belief in you. I really encourage people to find that group that can genuinely cheer them on. And I know that's what I have found. The best is I cannot believe like I said it a million times in a video like Oh, my God, I love you, girl. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, Thank you. Because I think and you would understand this spec Sometimes we're looking for a kind word. It's just that kind word. That is what I felt absolutely valuable as well as your business knowledge. When I've actually had a real problem that needs to be noted out, That's really important. But I suppose being a woman, I'm still going on that space of life when I really needed some safe hands that yours and the ladies investors was really saying And I have been so grateful for that. You have no idea. That has just been life changing. Thank you. And we are very grateful to have you in the group. So, Angie, I'm really thrilled that you're going to be joining us for the popular business Conference. I am just absolutely pumped that you have agreed to come along and speak and to share to find your blame game with the popular business community. What are you most excited about? In terms of the conference? I'm excited about lots of things. Well, firstly, I am absolutely honoured to be a part of the conference back. So thank you so much for having vulnerable in there. But really, I'm most excited about the other speakers. You have got the best speakers coming along, and of course, you know my business is still evolving. It's still growing. I still need lots of information. There's lots of learning for me to do, so I would say the most exciting thing for me is being a part of the other speakers being a part of the community, seeing everybody because I know that I have so much to learn and grow that after this conference I'll be able to come home and it will enrich my business and take it to another level. So that's what I'm really excited about, as well as playing the game there and meeting all the other beautiful women that would love to come and experience the game. Awesome. I'm excited about that. Yes, I just think the speakers that you have coming, you know, from Melbourne also some others city, the cameras, everything is just going to It's really going to put everybody on a total high with just tools and strategies that they're going to be able to take back to their business and implement. Its gonna be great. I agree. I'm counting down. I absolutely can't wait, really Do it. So, aside from speaking at the popular Business conference, what else is coming up for you in your business? And what would you like to tell the audience about what's coming up? We will be doing events in Sydney. But we will be doing events in Canberra and in Sydney again. But we have extended the offer, especially because of lockdown if people would like to buy their game now because I know there's lots of people that you know at home with their families and this game is going to bring you together and have those conversations that's going to really be meaningful and soulful and really enriching day. You're going to learn things about each other that you didn't know before. So sorry I went off a little bit there. But what we're offering now is still the by one and we will donate one to a domestic violence centre in Australia. We have now a great list of domestic violence centres that would love to take the game that would love to have it at their centre. So we're still offering one for one. If you buy one, I will give one away on your behalf. And if you have a business, I'd love to take it with you and we can deliver it so that they can see where you're the game that you contributed to us going to. Yeah, that's amazing. And I mean, as you know, I'm a huge fan of the fund, your bling game. I have got my own game, love playing it with family and friends and also see it as being just such a great coaching tool. And as a survivor of domestic violence myself, I really, really appreciate what you're doing in terms of making sure that those games get out into those domestic violence centres because the game is such a fantastic tool, and I know that it can help so many women. So thank you for that generosity. It's really amazing, you know, I grew up in domestic violence to back and I don't think anyone I know you didn't grow up in that yours was different. But for people that have been in any point of their life, they know the fear that someone feels and I'm my dream with the game is that we all know that when ladies go into these domestic violence centres, they are most likely going to go back and I'd love to think at some stage they actually take a calm and it's that one card that gives them the hope that they can make the change and it might be the right day for them to get out before something very serious happens. That's definitely my dream is that it helps people make a decision to move forward with their life and what a dream to have. I think it's phenomenal. I hope so. I hope so because no one can really understand the fear unless you've been in it. I I understand people are very empathetic to it, but the fear that really does run through your veins when you're tiny and these people are all big around you and things aren't very ideal. It's pretty scary and you actually live with it for the rest of your life. You know, it's not something that you just get to go and see someone for a little while and it's all okay. It's actually something that is with you for life, and you need to learn how to deal with that and they find your bling game is such a great tool for that. So thank you, thank you. Where can people find you if they want to find out more about what you're doing and about upcoming events and everything else that you've got going on If you would like to join the signs of bling community, please come over to Facebook. We do a little bit on Facebook. We also have a bling village. Once you have purchased your game or being a part of a workshop, we'd love to invite you there. And we have lots going on in there. That's pretty much how people find us. I'll go to our website at find your bling, and you'll be able to find all the information and what we're offering their excellent. And we will make sure that all of the links in the show notes so that people can find you on social media and on your website. Thank you so much, Angie, for being here today. I've really enjoyed this conversation and I highly encourage everyone to check out and find your blame game if you aren't already familiar with it. Thanks so much, Angie. Thank you back.
