Hi. It is another episode of BrightTitan Cast, the main, and only podcast of BrightTitan so far, where we report the week’s most important news. This week, so far, the most important news was Tesla’s event.

On Wednesday, Elon Musk held an event for Tesla. While we were expecting to get more information about the Tesla Model 3, the event was all about autonomous driving.

Yes, both Model S and Model X had sensors with which they could drive themselves, sort of. Those sensors were mostly to help the driver; not to replace the one who drives the car.

However, new Tesla vehicles don’t need a driver at all. Every Tesla vehicle, including Model S, Model X and Model 3, which will be produced from now, will have a new hardware.

This new hardware is equipped with 8 cameras and 12 radars so that, the vehicle is able to sense more. All of those new sensors make the cars capable of Level 5 autonomy. In other words, now, Tesla vehicles are capable of going from a to b without someone to control the car. They can do it all by themselves. You just need to say where do you want to go. And that is all. Fully autonomous vehicles are here, way early than we expected. If someone said that we would have this technology five years ago, we would laugh. But, we are in the era where we are about to say goodbye to driving a car. It is amazing but I don’t know if I want computer to drive my car. First of all, you are putting your life in the hands of a computer. Even though Tesla says that autonomous vehicles are way safer than the human drivers, a simple bug may kill you. Yes, it is true that computers are better drivers than us, but that is when they work properly. When using a software, the chances are you will probably encounter with a bug. Sometimes, the bug is so small that you don’t even notice. But, what if there is a major bug in the software. Then, it may simply kill. By the way, that is why Tesla will not replace the drivers until 2017. Yes, the Tesla automobiles produced from now will have this technology. However, it will not be until the end of 2017 when you could just sit back and tell your car to go from a to b. Anyway, the real reason why I don’t want computers to replace us is that I have no problem with driving. Like most of the people, I simply like to drive. Yes, in some cases, it would be just better to sit back and tell your car to take the control, but in general, I wouldn’t like that.

But keep in mind, it is just the second step. First step was to help the driver to drive more safely. Until now, Teslas, and most of other vehicles, had the technology to keep your car in line or brake in emergencies. However, you couldn’t rely on the car to drive itself. But, with the second step, it is more than that. It is not about to help you drive. It is about to help you to arrive your destination. This means when you sit in your car, you will only required to tell the car to go to your desired destination.

That was all about Tesla event and now, it is time to talk about one of the most interesting news of the week.

Apple just sent out invites to the media for a new event dated on October 27. The invitation includes the tagline, “Hello again”. It is probably a reference to the first ever Mac event which was tag lined as “hello”.

We except the event to be about all about Macs and the star of the show will probably be the 2016 MacBook Pro, which will be finally updated with a new design. 2016 MacBook Pro will be thinner and lighter. But don’t forget that you are getting more portable design in favor of the standard keyboard and many ports. Instead, you are getting a keyboard like the one we have seen on the MacBook and only Type-C ports. Also, it is important to mention that it will come with a headphone jack in any ways so you don’t have to worry.

However, I am actually curious about the new OLED touchscreen which will replace the function keys. It will be interesting to see a display like that. Nevertheless, Apple is not still putting a touchscreen, but the question is do we really need a touchscreen on laptops. As a MacBook user, I have never wished for my screen to be touch sensitive. As long as the touchpad works great, there is no such a need.

Besides the MacBook Pro, Apple may also upgrade the MacBook Air with a new design, but we can’t say anything solid about the new MacBook Air. In the past, Air was about being portable although it was also cheaper than the pro. Now, we have MacBook and MacBook Pro. If you want your computer to be slim, then there is MacBook. But, if you want to have more power instead, then there is the Pro lineup. Currently, the only advantage of the Air series is its price.

I actually think that Apple should remove the Air series. Apple proved that they are not interested ( and successful ) in making affordable products. You can say even the Air is not extremely cheap. No, it is not, but at least, it is priced below $1000.

The sources also indicates that Apple might choose to update its desktop computer, Mac Pro as well. However, we literally don’t have any information about it. Even though we can guarantee that a new MacBook Pro is coming, we can’t say anything about neither the new MacBook Air nor about new Apple desktop computers at all. If Apple actually releases a new MacPro though, it will also come with a new 5K Apple display, which was yet another Apple product that needed an upgrade.

Actually, every Apple computer except the new MacBook needs serious updates. They are old in terms of design and they don’t come with the newest technologies. It is really time for Apple to upgrade those.

And we come to the end. While we are publishing the new episodes of BrightTitan Cast on each Friday, you can always go to BrightTitan.com to see the latest topics. This week, we also published the review of Google Pixel. In a short description, it is an example of how Google wants Android phones to be. But to learn more about how we think about the device, go ahead to our website.

See you on the next week.
