Once, an old physician before the Renaissance period named “Claudius Galenus” said, “All who drink of this remedy recover in a short time except those whom it does not help, who all die.” this is referring to that before Renaissance patients and physicians relied on not approved treatments and it was absolute chaos for the medical department. Then what pathway guided medical treatments all over Europe to develop especially in Italy? The biggest inspiration which led to medical advancements was the ambition and courage to discover about new science field, “Human Anatomy,” truly blossomed during the Renaissance period.

Written and hosted by Bryan Park— an undergraduate freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Business and Sustainability.  I explored the influential events and ideologies from the Renaissance that impacted modern-day medical treatments  and the research question was, ‘To what extent did the exploration of the human body during the Renaissance lead to more effective modern-day medical practices?’
