For the first time, we took Bubbly & Banter on the road to visit some amazing friends in Beverly Hills. Usually, a 15-20 minute endeavor, this is an extended B&B (coming in at close to 50 minutes) because we stayed true to our roots and drank the whole bottle before ending the podcast. And, to drop some knowledge, a jeroboam is four bottles so, we were busy. In case you don’t want to listen to the whole thing, here are some places to jump to for interesting content:
3:30; 10:00, 19:00: Local, twitter, Yelp, etc. (local comes up again at 19:00)
8:40: why this group hates Foursquare
13:20: Are you drowning in your own Koolaid? And are you really moving the needle with those social media stuff?
15:00: Stop treating social media like traditional marketing
17:00: Engage with the people who are pissed, they care (forgive the bubbly refill break, this convo continues after)
23:20: Why consumer feedback for brands is crucial – and why you should listen
25:40: Promotion vs Connection (the old vs the new)
28:00: Crowdsourcing Vitamin Water label with Facebook
31:30: All the “You” campaigns – and, if your product sucks, no amount of PR/marketing money will help
34:15: Mark drops the LA vs SF bomb, the room reacts
38:50: Jeroboam is empty, Jean immediately asks re location of regular size backup bottle
40:10: The Rise of the Creative Class and why you should read this book
41:45: “We could open another bottle of champagne” @julzie – “Hey, his glass is empty and I’m not OK with that” @notcot
44:00: Nicole drops some knowledge from UofO that continues to drive her – if you are a creative, constant output requires constant input – and why Jean built a network of sites around this powerful idea
And, to recap the things that make Bubbly & Banter so amazing:
