Series: Business Advice with Elijah Dérismé

About: This series is advice and opinions from my point of view and experiences in the field of business. I am not a business guru or an educator or have an extended amount of years in business, and I was blessed to see, learn, and pick up valuable lessons for over four years that I would like to share with others.

About the Host:

Elijah Derisme is an entrepreneur and is the CEO of Mbele’s Experience & this media company, Mbele’s Grace, whom he named after his daughter.

Elijah’s plan was never to start a photo activation company. He wanted to help push his father's menswear tailoring business. He thought to himself to buy a high-quality camera, and that would be it. Little did Elijah know, there's more to shooting and posting photos online. Long story short, he learned how to use the camera by watching videos on YouTube and applying what he learned in-studio sessions.

During that time, Elijah had just left as an EMT for a private ambulance company and was not making any money doing photography. Even though he was developing some skills, learning about camera angles, etc., his partner persuaded him to look for a job in the field of photography via indeed. Elijah’s spirit was open to working for someone else when his partner came to him because he had shut down the idea of working for a new employer a few months prior. He applied to the leading photo booth company in the world, which he had never heard of, and got the job.

Fast forward three to four years later, after working for the leading global photo activation company, he now operates his own and is sharing his journey.
