This episode we talk to Canberra composer Chloe Hobbs. Chloe is a composer and performer of open and improvised music who is currently completing her PhD at the ANU school of music. Chloe’s work has been performed by ensembles such as the ANU chamber orchestra and The Noise to name a few.

Chloe talks to us about her approach to composition and composing with both standard and new forms of notation, including the use of graphics. She tells us about her thoughts on composing using open parameters and how she writes for specific instruments or open ensembles. We also talk about her focus on toy ensembles and the toy piano.
